The Lions have, arguably, the most talent of any team who's coach was fired this year. If they can get the right coach, there's no reason they can't make a playoff push next year.

Then I remember that this is the Lions I'm talking about here. They'll find ways to continue shooting themselves in the foot and miss the playoffs no matter who their coach is.

have seldom been posted!

Though I've always at some level been a Lion's fan, decades ago they were relegated to nothing more than a diversion while my true sports addictions became Michigan Football and Tiger Baseball.  Right now, they rank about 6th on my radar, as I also care more about Michigan's Basketball and Hockey teams and the Red Wings than the Lions.

I've never experienced anything from the Lions other than disappointment.  Do I expect that to change now?  Well, can the ownership be fired?

I've been a Lions fan forever and I know it doesn't matter what coach they have, these players (Lion's players) need to be accountable for their play, and actions. They don't want to win, nor play together. They are all about stats, and getting their face on television.

I say fine them, dock pay, or whatever you want to call it for dumb play, penalties, and lack of discipline. THEY HAVE NO PROFESSIONAL WORK ETHIC, and you as fans continue to pay for b.s. and fake as promises. They get your gauranteed money (seat licenses, and season tickets), and you're left with why can't they do this, or if they would do that.

Firing the coach does nothing! The NFL will shuffle is A$$ off to another team, and Detroit will continue to play like crap for the next coach.

AND YES I WILL TUNE IN NEXT SEASON!

Restore the Roar!

Pay Gruden 20 mill to coach the lions and wolverines at the same time. Have Kate Upton announce the games in a European news kind of way and provide free beer for life for fans that have spent money supporting this awful franchise.

I cannot imagine investing the activation energy necessary to (1) recognize sports fandom seldom yields returns large enough to be worth it and (2) step away from the unhealthy aspects of being a tireless fan...only to swap teams and do it all over again except in different colors. Why not stop tirelessly following the sport altogether?

Hike. Read books. Pet a cat. Kiss a girl. These would seem to me a more profitable use of your energy investment and a better match for your self-righteousness.

Yeah, I just gave up all Michigan sports teams too! I'm now the proud fan of Alabama Football. Miami Heat, Chicago Blackhawks, Boston Red Sox, Louisville Cardinal Basketball, and whoever wins this years Super Bowl!! /s Seriously, this is ridiculous. Stop rooting for a team not only to bandwagon a division rival, but also a team that you have no affiliation with whatsoever? Serious question: how long before you start rooting for Ohio State?

I am surprised and pleased! I didn't think they'd pull the trigger. Please please please hire someone who can help Matt Stafford reach his potential and keep Suh in line!

did to get Scotty Bowman.  They need a proven winner to take this team to the next level. Not sure who that is but just a suggestion.  Another coordinator becomes HC is not the answer.

Schwartz = Amaker?

I'll always admire Schwartz for taking over the reigns of a pathetic team and at least making them functionally mediocre and sometimes good.   Kind of like the mid-00's Amaker hoops teams that led us out of the abyss, showed some promise, but ultimately plateaued.

Godspeed, Jim Schwartz.

I liked both Linehan and Cunningham. I guess we lose those guys too. Dammit.

NFL head coach (with a few rare exceptions who actually get the power or stick around long enough to shape their teams) is one of the most useless high-paid positions in America, but they're good scapegoats when a team just runs into terrible luck.

So long Jim Schwartz. Good luck with your next set of dice.

Big deal. Let me know when something happens with M.
(I'm actually satisfied with Jim gone, but I can't focus on other athletics at this moment, yet)

For the last 15 years I have always thougt the Lions were the "New York Knights" of Malamud's ' The Natural'. WCF is the Judge and wants the Lions to perform poorly, in spite of all their talent. Not sure who Roy Hobbs is in this... but pretty certain about the Judge.

With the news that Ben Tate most likely won't be resigning with the Texans and the fact that the Bucs want Love Smith, the Lions job easily has to be the best available.
