Yes, I know they will probably lose, but a man can be optimistic can't he?

I might cry. We can't catch a break. We can't. Stafford can't stay healthy, the whole team can't stay healthy, we should've won, this is horrible. This is such an unbearably bad loss. Wow. Just fucking wow.

Julian Peterson is channeling his inner Spartan with that end-of-game meltdown. You can take the player out of Michigan State but you can't take the Sparty No! out of the player.

There was a famous picture of a fan holding up a sign that said "I can now die in peace".  That's how I'll feel when the Lions win a Super Bowl.

Was coming based on the previous call. Same formation, same motion. We all called it at the 2 min warning. It wasn't a bad call if there had not been that break. Stanton made a bad play and the defense took their collective foot off their neck the last two series. Peterson is an idiot.

The clock had stopped due to the 2 min warning. First and foremost, after ball possession, you want to get that clock moving again, and keep it moving. Remember, the Jets were out of timeouts. Throwing the football in that situation, especially with a back-up QB (no matter who that QB is), is an entirely unnecessary risk in my mind. Had we run, picked up 1 yard, and punted, the Jets get the ball with about 1:10 to go, instead of the 1:40-1:45 they had to work with. That's a night-and-day difference. And it bit us squarely in the ass.

Late in the game this evening Philly wanted to run the clock and pick up a 1st down to knock out the Colts. They called two end arounds to Desean Jackson. One was a first down. The last time I checked, Calvin Johnson was still on the roster. Hmmmmmm............

The run by Best came at the wrong side of the 2 min warning. I think after his run, the clock was at 2:16, which gave the Jets a huge break. The play clock on a normal run would have run :24 more seconds past the 2:00 min mark.

The other bad thing about the break was the Jets staff had time to remind everyone on the backside to hold their spots and watch the waggle. They were prepared for it. But that doesn't happen if those plays are run back to back without a timeout called.

Yes, in hindsight, run the ball (if that is what you're going to get with Stanton) and put the game in a pretty decent defense (when cut loose); but I still liked the call. The Lions have no charity cases and they give a player a uniform and expect them to play like a pro.

Just a dong punch of a game which the Lions controlled throughout.
