OT: Jerel Worthy admits to taking plays off
"The film speaks for itself," said Worthy, who left Michigan State after his junior year. "People criticize and say I may take a play off here or there; there's nobody in the NFL game today or college or all the way down to pee-wee who plays every play full speed, full-go without getting tired. It's impossible.

I think Mike Martin would not agree
It's not a bad thing to take plays off when you play "48 minutes of unnecessary roughness."
This fat guy probably should have played harder, he might not have fallen in the draft.
Yeah, nobody hauls ass up field on trap plays better than Vandenbosh.
He is the first one to the quarterback....every running play.
A lot of DT's take a play off now and then. The Mike Martin's of the world are very hard to find.
Can you imagine taking a new job and saying in a trade publication, "Yeah, I pretty much phone it in every now and then at work. Nobody works sixty hour weeks and actually works all the time."?
It just seems like there are a lot of athletes who need to be coached to answer questions correctly. Worthy, Pryor, Vick, all these guys have to be hearing people tell them to shut up, right?
To me it sounded a lot like the preview for Office Space. Him sitting at the desk with the two Bobs. I just sit at my desk and zone out for about 2 hours. I'd say in a given week I probably only do around 30 minutes of real, actual work.
Jerel Worthy sounds like a straight shooter with upper management written all over him?
I had no idea a ninja with a hatred for Missouri spelled upper management.
I hear Worthy is having some problems with his TPS Reports lately.
You see, Bob, you mind if I call you Bob? It's not that I'm lazy, it's just that I don't care.
Yeah well Bill, let me ask you something. How much time would you say you spend dealing with these TPS Reports each week?
Mmmmm....yeah....
I first read this as "admits to take pay offs." Too much to hope for, I guess.
The Green Bay DL coach was impressed with Worthy's "wiggle and get off."
a lap-dancer.
Cool.....
I am assuming that Jerel Worthy simply needed the occasional moment to think of more reasons to hate Missouri. It's hard to put your entire mind or body into the game when you are formulating the demise of the "Show Me State".
Oh State.. You never cease to aMAIZE me.. Why in the hell would anyone say this
Don't say aMAIZE. Like, ever.
Does it make you BLUE?
Like, You gonna stop me... Valley Girl
Time to bring back the negbang.
A lot of DTs take a play off here and there. I just think it is a red flag for someone to openly admit it.
Mike Martin takes plays off... when the offense is on the field amirite???
rite
who doesn't take plays off? come on.
I mean, knock him for his honesty, I guess, but more than a few big time interior linemen spend a few plays every game "leaning" on a guard, or taking an easy stalemate rather than fighting a block.
Easy to judge, but these 300+ lb athletes are freaks of nature. Mike Martin is exceedingly rare.
We are not preoccupied with Sparty. I repeat, not preoccupied.
I heard Dantonio was seen at a doctor's office today, can anyone confirm? How will this impact the game next season? Is anyone on the board a cardiologist?
Gholston admits to taking players' heads off.
This isn't surprising. I would say 90% of D-Lineman take plays off.
If I had to guess, I’d probably say it’s closer to 100% than 90%. This isn’t a big deal. If one of ours were to say it, I suspect we’d all be praising him for his honesty.
There is a difference between doing it and saying it. Talking about his laziness demonstrates poor judgment, even if everybody else is doing it too.
I wish he took more off against us.
That's all.
Derek Wolfe doesn't take plays off, and that's why the Bronco's took him instead of you.
fat and lazy.
Too many RCMB-ish threads these days.
... the obsession with all things MSU is sad. Maybe it's a generational thing, but I have 0 interest in MSU 51 weeks a year.
Aren't we on MGoBlog at work? I take plenty of time off for this
Was just about to post the same thing.
If anyone deserved to take plays off it was Worthy -- most plays while most of his teammates were still waiting around for the center to hike the ball, Worthy would already be off the line and well into the backfield. Just think of how many extra seconds he played during a game that nobody else did -- I mean those add up!
to learn the hard way the difference between the NFL and college football pretty quickly.
I mean, for christ sake, at least be accurate when you get a tattoo. The people in columbus frown on that act.
Worthy ought to get along with Clay Mathews just fine. He takes plays plays off all the time.
