OT: Jenny Finch retires: my interest in softball disappears

Submitted by wolverine1987 on

No offense to women's softball players or watchers out there, but there was only one thing that ever made me pause the remote to watch a women's softball game in my lifetime, and that was Jenny Finch. Of course she was a tremendous pitcher, but I was interested for... other reasons, as most that saw her might agree.. Now word comes that she is retiring. Too bad, as I'll likely never see a softball inning again, but all the best to her and her husband, who's an MLB player.

until just this moment that there was actually a pro softball league that one could "retire" from. I kind of assumed it was like when any other Olympian retires, like she was just not planning to compete anymore. I didn't realize there was a regular paycheck involved.

She never really did it for me. Not that she's unattractive, but I always thought her looks were blown out of proportion because she was a successful softball player who wasn't huge or scary looking.

Michigan's own softball team has had dozens of girls over the years who were better looking than she is in my opinion. Alessandra Giampolo comes to mind.

She was an icon and one of the best players in her sport, but I don't think you should stop paying attention. Another more refined "Jennie Finch" will take the mantle from the old Jennie Finch and the cycle will begin anew.

I mean why else are their stars in women sports but for men to oogle over them??

But I know we're getting a little sensitive what "pops up" at work...and while it doesn't show anything...I'm sure there are some who don't want their boss looking over their shoulder seeing that. So, the sad link rather than the embed.

I mean, really, the pregnant one is what might turn most people off...lol...

Team USA is playing the Futures team right now. Michigan's Jordan Taylor is on the mound for the Futures team. Finch just got an infield single for Team USA. USA up 1-0 on Futures.
