Not happy someone took a beating for this arrest to happen, but I'm glad Marriotti will probably not be on TV for a while, at least until someone else does the same thing and this is forgotten.

...of the WashPo DC Sports Bog giving it to Mariotti:

dcsportsbog Mariotti on Gil, after suspension: "You just lost everything you worked for in life, all because you thought you were too cool for school."

dcsportsbog Mariotti on Gil: "This is Exhibit A of how to destroy a career, how to blow a $111 million contract."

dcsportsbog Mariotti on Gil, pre-guilty plea: "Gilbert Arenas abused the system....Today, he's just another creep about to fade away."

The article says Mariotti got in to an argument with his girlfriend. Unfortunately Jay did not realize that in the real world, you do not win arguments by spouting idiotic assertations very loudly.

Huh?  You mean to tell me that Jay Mariotti would act like an ass in public, scream at somebody all the way home, then CONTINUE that argument into the house and enrage the other person?  And THEN hit the smaller person when she does not agree with him?  You must be joking, for that is not the Jay Mariotti that I have grown up with.

Good. Put that piece of shit away for a while. And if it's possible for Dan Lebatard and Skip Bayless to run over by the same train, we'd be off to a good start cleaning up ESPN.

...was supposed to start a new ESPN Radio show next week with Jalen Rose in LA.  I certainly don't care that Mariotti's career is toast, but I do hope that ESPN will find another co-host for Jalen and soon.

Mariotti moved to Los Angeles two months ago in an attempt to relaunch his radio career. ESPN sources in L.A. and Bristol tell me that Mariotti was due to launch a morning show from 6-8am PT with Jalen Rose in the near future on ESPN-owned KSPN-AM in Los Angeles.

If the show did well during the Lakers season, I was told that ESPN execs were considering moving the duo to another more prominent daypart on the station.

But from what I’ve been told today by ESPN sources inside the Disney-owned company, those plans may soon be moot.

don't you find this ironic? I know i do.

Sportswriter and noted a-hole Jay Mariotti has been arrested for domestic assault. The LAPD is saying he and his girlfriend left a club arguing, and Mariotti "pushed and shoved her, and also left marks on her arm." A little hypocritical, don't you think, coming from a dude who called for stricter MLB punishments for violent baseball players.
