until a starting QB goes down - would you rather have Jake, Brad or Jay starting if Stafford goes down for the season?  I am sure Cutler is better than most backup QB's and probably a few starters too.

thought he was supposed to be "super talented" and "capable of making all of the throws."  The NFL is weird.  I never know who is actually good and who is just popular.  Some player are "good" one year and "terrible" the next.

Like, take Tony Romo.  Was Tony Romo ever good?  I really don't know the answer to that.

By the numbers, he's easily the third best QB in Cowboys history. But whether you'd actually rank him ahead of Danny White, Don Meredith or Craig Morton is up to how you judge success without a title.

Morton was the only non-Roger or Troy QB to take the team to a SB, which they lost and he was terrible in. Meredith had to endure the expansion era and couldn't get past the Packers, while White was similar to Romo in the can't win the big one department. Also, it'd be fascinating to see what would be made today of a team using its regular backup qb, let alone their starter, as its punter.

Cutler does have a lot of talent (or, at least it seems that way). The perception of him here, in Chicago, was that he didn't give a crap about the team or the fans. He just isn't very personable. Which, whatever, but as the face of the fanchise, this was never going to end well. His wife is an attention [hound] and pipes up at the worst possible times. As a non-Bears fan, even I'm glad here's outta here. He was just annoying. I wonder what he'll be like in the booth (I may already know).

too many NFL people would question Cutler's talent/physical skills.  The problem from the get go with Cutler was between his ears.

As a fan of the team for 25 plus years, Cutler is the scapegoat for a horribly run team that cannot find a consistent GM. If Bears had hired Gase instead of Fox, Cutler would be doing well, and the Bears may win. Cutler had a small window where the defense was still good but aging, where the offense was given weapons, and in each of those years there was no coaching consistency. Bob Babich ruined the defense, then Mel Tucker the ---er buried it further to the center of the earth, and then Cutler was supposed to win games in shootouts. He threw INTs in many games because he was trying to make things happen on shitty teams. His numbers are not far off from plenty of solid to above average QBs, including two-time SB champ Eli Manning.

Until the staff and management can be good enough, no QB (look at Andrew Luck) is going to rescue my Bears. NonQB can survive the Bears fans and media assaults for that long. Bases like Chicago and Philadelphia and NYJets just don't have patience because of population and team histories.

Alright, I'll be THAT guy and ask -

Is Cutler going to replace him in the nude?

This could affect ratings significantly - either way, mind you - so I think we have to ask given that certain photos of Cutler are unfortunately widely available now.

Matt Forte did an AMA on reddit a few years ago. One of the top questions asked him if playing with Cutller was nice for padding his tackle stats.

Which of these are better TD to INT ratios? Which of these are Cutler's, and which of these are a bunch of Super Bowl QBs? Which is Harbaugh's?

Cutler' INT % per pass thrown is, for his career, 3.3%. Elway: 3.1. Warner: 3.1. Jim Kelly: 3.7. Dan Marino: 3.0. Favre: 3.3. Harbaugh: 3.0 McMahon: 3.9%

060: 064
129: 117
153: 100
164: 198
208: 146
208: 128
237: 175
300: 226
420: 252
508: 336

Perception tells one story of one player, while team talent tells another. Cutler remains the best QB Chicago has had in my lifetime.

Also not good at football. Maybe he will do well just hated getting his butt kicked by the Packers so many times he had that I don't care face

If he brings in all his friends to work every day, where will he park his unicycle?

(A good football talent, but it seems that the only people that hated the guy more than other teams were 100% of the members and coaches of each Bears team he played on.)

Jay is an asshole and does not seem to have the personality needed for television. He seems just so uncharismatic.

Have you been keeping up with football announcers lately? We're not exactly in a golden era of sports announcing. All he has to do is be better than Beth Mowins, Matt Millen, and Brock Huard which isn't exactly hard to do.

He's a dick and was always a dick to the beat reporters and media in Denver ...how absolutely ironic he's now part of the "media."  No leadership ability on the field and though he had a rocket arm, the dude made bad decisions.  Coming out of Vandy with a WP under .500, the spin was ..."well, at Vandy you're in the SEC so while his record sucked, he was losing to Alabama, LSU & Florida, so you know."

In reality, in the NFL, when the going got tough, he quit on his teams.

total dick - plenty of off-field stories from his Denver days too from various drinking establishments, but that's just gossip stuff like passing out at bars and groping waitresses.

What a downgrade.  I liked Lynch in the booth.  But he was destined to move on and fleece the Bears front office for the next several drafts.

Considering all the money he has made, his gorgeous wife, and now this cushy gig...I'm beginning to think there's an argument to be made for being a total ass all the time.

Lynch fleeces the Bears in a draft day trade that nets the Bears Trubisky.   Bears sign Glennon to off-season largish contract to replace Cutler.   Cutler replaces Lynch in booth.   Circle of life, man.  But serious downgrade in the booth, though.   Would've preferred Pat McAfee.
