Disappointing loss and yeah, BSU looks less impressive now that they beat a team that lost to a FCS team

VT usually starts off slow though, I am hopeful that this team can fight back and win the ACC

What a joke, Boise St moves up last week in their already inflated poll ranking after barely beating VT, I expect James Madison to be ranked right behind them and set themselves up for the BCS title game if they run the table.

I mean, they can only play their schedule, right?

to the commenter who I made fun of for suggesting that Beamer would be in trouble for losing to BSU. The VT fans have to be getting restless now.

I'm in VA (on the WVU/VT border) and my FIL is a huge Hokie fan. We're always going at it. Two weeks ago I was hearing about how VT would win the national championship and we'd start 0-2.

... When I heard "biggest upset since Appy State/Michigan" in regards to the VT loss today it was extra sweet for me. I doubt I'll be hearing from him for quite awhile.

I was at the game. Even though the weather was a minor factor, VT's OLine was getting blown up at the line of scrimmage. The looked exactly as mediocre as they looked against Boise State. Disgusting.

I don't see how this affects BSU - they played in effect a road game against a top-10 team to start the season and won.  I don't think they'll make the NC game, but they took care of business against the team on the field.  The fact VaTech lost the next week shouldn't really matter.

I agree that VT looked bad, but if they go on a 10-game win streak I would still consider them a top-10 team.  BSU is not going to play for the MNC unless a bunch of teams lose multiple games; but I still give them immense credit for traveling across the country and playing a virtual home game for VaTech this early in the season.

I actually feel less bad with this than I did with the Horror, because I know VT is a much better team than that game showed. The fact that they hung with BSU and could have beaten the Broncos if one of several plays had gone differently shows that.

With the Horror, you came to realize that the loss wasn't something out of kilter -- that the team really was that bad. That's what made it hurt so much more. VT can run the table in the ACC -- losses by Georgia Tech, Miami, FSU, et al. demonstrate that it's going to be another wacky year in that conference.

There's only one thing for sure: Virginia will still lose to VT at the end of the regular season.
