As the projected #2 overall pick, Winston has to leave school.  He will sign a contract for a guaranteed amount of money that is somewhere between the grand prize of a decent lotto week or a "bad" powerball week.  That is more than the average person graduating with a bachelor's is going to make in his or her entire life.

His contract will be "short" whatever it is going to cost to defend himself against the inevitable lawsuit from his alleged "victim," who will probably lose but still cost Winston a lot of money in attorney's fees.  Even so, he is still going to have enough money to set himself up for the rest of his life.  Then again, that would require making some good decisions.  I hope he has grown enough to at least hold onto some of his money by the time he "retires."

There have been 2 separate investigations that still came to the same conclusion. I highly doubt all 3, one of which had a former SC judge preside over, are corrupt. There's not enough evidence to sway either way. Schools only need a "preponderance of evidence," and if they can't find even that... what are the odds the justice system will meet "burden of proof?"

Meh.

The only reason Winston will be a bust in the NFL is b/c of off the field issues. If you think he'll be a bust due to QB skills, you don't watch football or are blinded by his off the field problems. Winston > Mariota in the pocket and that's all that matters. If you didn't notice that from the Rose Bowl, you don't watch enough football.

Unless Winston fucks up off the field again, he'll go before Mariota. Book it.

I don't think he will be a bust. But he does have maturing to do. If he goes to the jets then his chances of being a bust grow significantly. He needs to be in the right situation. Tampa will probably take him.

This. If any NFL player evaluator watched the Rose Bowl, both Qbs showed all that is needed. Mariota, cool, poised, methodical and a real field general. Winston, out of control on the sidelines, looked disinterested in coaching. It is not always performance on the field. Attitude counts and Mariota has it. Tampa!

As much as I'd like the Bucs to draft Mariota, I don't really think he's Lovie Smith's style in what he's looking for in a QB. He wants a solid game manager with a cannon arm who can rely on a strong ground game as the primary attack. Besides, apparently the Bucs came away from the Rose Bowl really impressed with what they saw in Winston.

Let's put it this way: I'd trust Lovie Smith more to trade for Cutler and bring him down to Tampa than I would for him to draft Mariota.
