Jack Campbell, former UM hockey hopeful, was just selected 11th overall by the Dallas Stars. Oh what could have been...
And yes, I'm watching the NHL draft with my Friday night. Don't judge me.
then again I live in East Lansing, what else would I do? Also, how depressing is it that this is OT? At least we could make a Merill thread that wouldn't be.
I even processed that as I made it. My inner voice had a little argument trying to decide if it was OT or not since we talked about him so much last year. Damnit
I'm not doing a whole lot better with my night. I'm watching the Tigers give away enough at bats to make the Three Wise Men jealous.
So the wings just passed on Merrill in favor of a guy who plays for Notre Dame. I need a drink.
So does Sheahan.
Holland has an OK record in the draft. He gets the benefit of the doubt. Unlike his peer who drafted yesterday, who gets none of that when it comes to the draft.
I am not saying Sheehan won't be a good player, I just hate the idea of rooting for a guy to do well while he is at Notre Dame.
Anybody else hold their breath when Montreal said USNTDP? Really glad they passed on Merill.
except I will be so pissed if the Blackhawks take him right here...
I'm torn on that. I don't like Michigan players in Chicago, but with their cap problems they might be more likely to let their college players be.
there are two ways to look at it, they also may need to call up their young players because they won't be able to afford veterans, they will need guys on entry level contracts.
Agreed, although I think they would look to Olsen/Leddy/Lalonde first. Looks like a moot point either way.
Looks like Phoenix has another pick coming. I'd love to see Merill there.
... whats the deal with merrill? i missed his story, if he dosent get drafted in the first is he going to play for UM? i can't remember.
EDIT: never mind, i figured it out.
I guess it's the year of the sliding Wolverine. Hopefully Merrill finds better luck tomorrow.
upset, but then I remember he's still really, really good. According to various articles about him, it would be his maturity and the suspension that would drop him. He's still just as good as he is. And the later he goes the longer we're probably going to keep him.
But still, I would have liked to have that first rounder just for appearances sake...
EDIT: In retrospect, it's not surprising he didn't get chosen in the first round. The kid likes Miley Cyrus.
