Spent the past week taking basketball team to Team Camp in 95 degree heat, so ready for a weekend of relaxing. Spent the afternoon at the beach with some Summer Shandy, now at home on the deck for a cool evening with some Fat Tire. What's in your glass?
OT - It's Saturday, It's Summer, so what are we drinking tonight?
havent decided yet. Do I want beer or a Gin and Tonic? I have New Holland Michigan Hatter, and Jolly Pumpkin iO Saison in my fridge right now, and also have some Hendricks in my house right now too... choices...choices...
Trumps gin and tonic every time. As for me I'm trying my first White Hatter. New Holland may be pushing bells and founders for top dog
White Hatter is pretty quality on a hot day. I was at Whole Foods and they had bombers of Aged Hatter, Farm Hatter, Black Hatter and Michigan Hatter for I think 4.99. My store ups the prices to like 7ish.
New Holland has my favorite beer in Dragons Milk - I like it more than KBS and its way more available.
ASAP! Thanks for the tip
Has New Holland been making some good stuff lately? I used to drink their beers all the time when I went to college in Holland, but it's been a while and I haven't kept up with them. It's pretty impressive to hear them being compared to Bell's and Founder's now.
Just listen to john stamos. Man knows his beer!
Made shrimp scampi pasta for dinner washing it down with a cold Sam Adams porch rocker. My summer beer.
North peak brewing Co. majestic wheat ale
Lager of the lakes on the patio of my new home in Kalamazoo. Just moved down from Grand Rapids
Congrats man - guess you're gonna have to change your username huh? jk jk
Repping the grap 4 life!
Bought two bottles of Bois from the Bruery. Drinking one tonight, cellaring the other.
I am so excited for the Bruery to come to Michigan! Now if only we could get Green Flash, and Troegs...
As a Michigan native it pains me to say its my favorite brewery. Every beer is unique and almost always flawlessly executed. You must try the Sour in the Rye and the White Oak when you get a chance.
Gentleman Jack Honey w/Lemonade and maybe a few Monkey Kings. Basically what I have on hand, nothing new this week.
Irish country men (think thats how its labeled) ... My new favorite beer
Lemonade, 'cause I'm with my 13 year old son tonight, and we're watching Japanese bug fights on YouTube. Praying Mantis vs. giant Asian hornet. Riveting.
My money's on the mantis. I know, I know, the hornet has venom, but I don't care. Mantis just look sweet. Plz update me on the winner.
My parents brought down a new beer from Petoskey called Horny Monk, and for the past several hours as the kids have played in the pool we set up outside, we've been enjoying that periodically. Thankfully, my parents brought a goodly amount of it with them from up north.
Supposedly, they manufacture a "Horny Monk" t-shirt, but my mother refused to let my father wear it to a birthday party for some reason.
Moms. They don't get it.
They'll tell you, Parents just don't understand...
Great beer, I live three miles from the brewery.
with grizzly winter green in my lip.
In an OJ glass. Moves you smartly into the evening.
There's a lot of Booyah going here.
New Glarus Spotted Cow - a classic 'round these parts. Had a big week of surgery in the lab, weather couldn't be better. If you can, make sure you sit outside for a bit & enjoy the sunshine.
Another beer I wish we could get in Michigan. New Glarus makes some fantastic beers! Spotted Cow and Fat Squirrel are my favorite
Yeah I can't complain about the microbrew situation over here, although I do miss all the Bell's/Founders/Shorts from home. Fat Squirrel was also one of my faves - I really like to get the New Glarus 12 pack samplers (4 different beers) for my family whenever I come home.
Variety pack is my choice as well. I don't remember the other two, but I enjoyed them as well. If you ever wanna buy that extra pack for people back in michigan, just think of your favorite actor from everybody's favorite tv show of the early 90's .
Hell, still our favorite actor, and the show is on every night/ morning at my house. Which is full btw, all girls 'cept me... My wife, daughter, and 4 nieces...pray for me
Margaritas at my in laws for their annual summer party. All Hawkeye fans, planning our trip to Kinnick this year.
I am drinking good ol water. I have an 11 mile run planned for tomorrow morning.
Keep it up dude. I gave up the longer distances for the rest of the summer after developing some kind of muscle strain/tear, so I'm sticking with 5-10k routes now. As long as I get outside for a bit, I'm happy. Your 10k should seem short next to an 11 mile training.
I am actually in Boston qualifying training. the btn big 10k is just a tempo run for me.
and I'm not off until eleven, same as yesterday. Water by the liter interspersed with some Gatorade or Mountain Dew. Tomorrow the booze will be flowing, family in town be damned.
been drinking summer shandy and playing softball since 11am. I have an amazing tan line on my forehed now from wearing a hat. lol
Eight Point IPA from Devils Backbone. Pretty good on hopefully the last excessively hot night for a few days.
two glasses of West Coast IPA.
Private Reserve - northwestern style lager (not logger!)
Boston lager with some delicious hog snapper. Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been really cooperating lately, so I haven't been able to do much fishing lately. Had to pick this up at a place nearby. Still delicious.
margaritas.. company over for my twin daughter's birthday party. The beer Margarita s are always a hit and easy.
How do you make them?
12 oz can Frozen Limeade
12 oz Silver tequila
12 oz Water
12 oz Mexican beer (I like Sol or Dos Equis) nothing dark
Put in a pitcher. Add a few lime slices. Add a bunch of ice. Pour in a solo cup with names on it because people will love them, get silly, and leave them all over; and then forget which cup is theirs.
It's actually pretty good
Just got done smoking two pork shoulders for the past 8 hrs. About to shred them up and make some BBQ sammiches.
Headed out for Pizza or Mexican for dinner with the babe....Beer (unsure of my selection) or Margaritas (strawberry blended or the manly, regular, to be determined). Summer is fun.
I'm at a luau sort of for my bday. Anyway, I'm on a steady diet of Summer Shandy and Jell-O shots. Fuckin' A!
After watching a P.A.L vs. Pop Warner scrimmage. Watched the Eastside Raiders play the Detroit Titans at King. Nice crowd out today.
Which I liked. And my first Flemish sour on a coworkers recommendation, which I was not a fan of.
Sours are an acquired taste. Which one did you try?
It reminded me of grape soda.
Cantillon makes world class Lambics and Guezes, which are types of sour beer. I would seek them out along with other Belgium breweries renowened for sours before giving up on the style. Jolly Pumpkin makes some good ones (La Roja) and Russian River (Supplication) makes incredible sours as well.
I recommend Rodenbach Grand Cru to people who want to experiment with sours (it is mild, relatively affordable, and easily acquired unlike Cantillon or Russian River) but my guess is that if Monk's was too sour it might just not be a good beer style for him. It took me a long time to appreciate sours and I still have to be in the right mood.
I have so much freaking work to do before I go on PTO for a week.
Dammit I want to drink with all you guys.
Cans of All Day IPA.
Dogfish Head 61 MInute IPA. Drinking the last of the 4-pack...wondering if I should start on the 12 pack of Oberon in my basement or margaritas.
I'm having Grand Teton Lost Continent again. My wife (who is visiting family in San Francisco) just sent me a picture of the beer she picked up for me out there. Two bottles of Pliny the Elder, one of Supplication and one of Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. I'm very excited to try these world class beers, and of course to see the wife again.
in beautiful Islamorada Florida
when i get off work at 7am, there'll be an allagash white waiting for me.
I am a witbier fan and still stalking this one.
first foray with Mangria. It was: okay. Drunk now though; thanks Sailer Jerry
I feel awful
