Mango smoothie from Burger King.
Don't judge me!!
Mango smoothie from Burger King.
Don't judge me!!
Checking out the Back forty in grand rapids tonight.
Small and usually crowded.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Might crack open a Dogfish Head 60 minute ipa tonight
pinnacle, rose's, tonic
Dr.Pepper (still at work).
Short's Dan's Pink Skirt IPA. Impressive summer patio IPA.
Been wanting to try that!
so jealous - i have a great little local grocery store that no one goes to but they have a FANTASTIC beer section, and I am waiting for them to get some in. I bought Beard of Zeus there the other day and thats another fantastic beer.
Did you happen to try Hopstash -- Yet another i am trying to get my hands on?
Beard of Zeus is really good!
That's a great one. I like the Controversius Maximus, too (aka Double Hangin' Frank).
Ol' Trusty in my book.
A nice Brewery Vivant Zaison.......mmmmmm. This micro from Grand Rapids has an awesome brew selection. If you are ever there, try it out.
After a rather long, somewhat aggravating week, I am delving into a present someone gave me - a six-pack of Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. Good stuff. Just sitting around doing the modding thing and watching the Tigers game.
At the club for pig roast and we be sippin' on crown and ginger tonight.
Maximus IPA. Wonderful stuff except over 8% ABV. So just 3 tonight with brats.
Studying right now so the drink of choice is water, once I am done I will most likely have a Brewery Ommegang Hennepin - I think its my favorite beer that is offered year round.
Im posbanging everyone too - its a good night.
Dead Guy. Wish I could find the Double Dead Guy in bottle
After imbed fail.
Madison River Brewing Company
Salmon Fly Honey Rye
Seagrams VO Gold 8 year blend and seven up.....
Stone Enjoy By 7/4/13.... Same ole same ole.
ugh - you always are drinking the best beers. I am jealous...
What are the top ten best beers that you have had?
taunting us with tales of growlers at The Lost Abbey.
Maybe I should do that next week.
Its not as good out of the bottle as it is on tap . . . hopefully she's drinking it out of the bottle.
My favorites are mostly from Alpine. They make the best IPAs overall imo. Nelson is my standby fav. But this particular batch of Enjoy By is right up there. So, here is a list of my favorites:
Pliney the Younger
Keen Idea, Bad Boy, Nelson, Pure Hoppiness, Duet (All Alpine)
Ugly (Black IPA-Alpine)
Pliney the Elder
Enjoy By 7/4/13 is best yet
And there is a new place out here called Society. I like their IPA 'pupil'
Basic every day stuff like Sculpin (Ballast Point) and 30th St IPA (Green Flash) are just great to have around
So, I just like IPAs. the more citrusy and hoppy, the better. Nelson has the New Zealand hops, and thats my preference. I did try an amazing Peanut Butter Stout from Mother Earth in Vista (north San Diego County). But i usually stick with IPAs.
As a side note, I am taking my kids to San Francisco next week, and will be visiting Russian River...the river and the brewery (pliney is their claimmto fame). I WILL be enjoying a pint or two.
We are spoiled out here.
I hate you so much right now
Just had my second one.
I've had several of the batches of the Enjoy By releases and so far and they have not disappointed. Really helping promote awareness for fresh beer. Makes all the difference in the world, particuarly for IPAs.
Honestly, I'm more interested in the Alpine beers you often post about. Nelson is a favorite, but also love Duet, Exponential Hoppiness...basically any of their IPAs.
I'm sure Brian would hate it, but would love to set up some MGoTrades with others so people from one region could experience great beers from elsewhere.
Oh, and for me tonight, I had a Zombie Dust (acquired via trade) followed by a Two Hearted (on tap where I had dinner). Also sitting on some Maine Beer Co. brews (Lunch, Weez, Mean Old Tom). Tonight I found a couple of bottles of Bruery's anniversary ale Bois. Looking forward to trying one and laying the other one down for a year or two.
I've cellared my Bois. A beer exchange would be tremendous. Have you had White Oak by the Bruery? I think its amazing.
Makes amazing beer! A good friend goes up there and brings stuff back. I've had White Oak--good stuff!
I think they are on par with RR, although they don't have quite the following/cache. They do a fair amount of unique beers without striking out the way that Dogfish or New Belgium does with their LoF series.
I really like the BR Cafe 15 - I think that is just as good as any Enjoy By I've ever had.
Exponential is good too... But I have had some not so great batches of Expo (too alcoholish).
Nelson and Duet are great because theyre a bit different from each other for a good change of pace. But they make some special ones/seasonally--like Ugly (Black IPA), Bad Boy (dIPA) and I just tried Keen Idea. That might possibly be my fav, but Ive only had it once. It was magnificent.
You are right about the Enjoy By. I feel like Stone is sort if overrated and commercial, so I was really surprised to try that, and each release has been better than any. I just hope they keep making that beer.
Beer trading sounds fun. I would be game.
That stuff is delicious. One of my favorite Stone brews. Couldn't find it in a bottle here in San Diego. Just on tap.
I have bought it at Bevmo (!!! I know!!!) and Stone has a store in South Park and Liberty Station. Pretty sure you can get it there.
On the patio with Oberons. Switching to silver bullets or Tito's soon. Happy weekend gentlemen.
Fitting that I follow up a comment about great beers with my rather boring selections. So be it.
At an event with open bar - brandy old fashioneds all night!
I think I'm going to make one for myself tonight. I love me some brandy old-fashioneds.
They are a little sweet for my tastes but still good to have whenever I'm in WI
Rufie's and tonic water.
Jack Daniels for some unknown reason.
Agave nectar ale. Mehhhhhhhh
A rocks glass full of Macallan Cask Strength after a LONG strategic offiste meeting (The Lakes Course at Grand Naional on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail) with my boss and others from work. Bogey golf at it's finest.
I'm golfing in a pro-am on Monday! I wish it was on golf trail somewhere! They are some nice courses. Owned by the Alabama teachers retirement fund?
Hit em' long and straight! The RTJ golf trail in Alabama is a beautiful thing and I welcome you to meet me on the course if you can ever make it down this way.
of the exact same thing a half hour ago. Currently sitting on the deck with a rocks glass watching the sun go down.
Nice! For the strength, it's a pretty robust scotch and the sherry cask helps with the finish while keeping the bite away. Looking to move on to a more peaty scotch tonight...perhaps an Ardbeg 10 or a Laphroaig 12. The night is still young.
in Richmond last week. Tastes a little like Newcastle to my somewhat undiscerning palate. Long time since I gave much thought to these things, but it was so delicious with my meatloaf at the River City Diner there (recommended) that when I saw one on the shelf in the place where we breakfasted, I plumped for it.
Scotch. Start testing your liver and improving your life.
...with Myer's and Coke. Stop telling my liver what to do.
It's there for a purpose. It will get depressed if you don't ever let it stretch its legs. It wants to run.
Don, I'm jealous! My liver can only talk. What secret nectar do you imbibe that allows your organs to be ambulatory?
I'm not sure why you're so butt-hurt (sp?) but, dude, seriously, have some scotch. Your liver will thank you for it and maybe, just maybe, you will not be so much of a douche.*
*This message was brought to you all in part by: Macallan Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch & mrtait82's shriveled, despicable liver.
Fair enough, however, the ghosts of douche lingers in your posts. I feel as though you may be better than this, but it is up to you to prove me wrong.
Did you know that 1 alcoholic drink in a day adds 30 minutes to your life? Didn't think so. So I am going to keep the doctor away in a about a half an hour.
It was sitting on the front porch next to a 12 pk of Blue! So, my drink of choice tonight...Crown on the rocks!
Rocky's Revenge, it's a brown ale that my brother picked up in Lake Mills Wisconsin.
To Kuhnhenn for the Solstice Party
On the rocks at the moment
As much as I love the craft brews, always enjoy returning to my roots now and then.
I was hearing radio commercials for Hamm's out west 50 years ago.
My dad always sang that jingle to me when I was but a wee lad.
My liver is getting a workout.
Bomber of Ro Shampo, Figure 8 Brewing imperial red ale. Then probably Lagunitas Lil Sumpin Sumpin.
Pinot Noir becouse my girly self has never been able to handle beer.
Dogfish Head Noble Rot. Beer brewed with Grape Must, tastes like wine. Good entry beer for girly selfs.
I'm drinking a glass of TwentyFour Cabernet Sauvignon.
Keeping price as a consideration.
but that you're paying a premium for the name. Althought second-hand information, it came from some serious oenophiles so I put some credence behind it.
It's not too dry, but not too sweet. I was a little skeptical because of the price, but I figured if I was gonna buy something expensive it would be TwentyFour. It is a step up from my usual Gnarly Head. TwentyFour Sauvignon Blanc is only $20 before shipping and taxes if you can't see yourself paying $150 for a bottle of wine.
Lambic with the missus while the baby is asleep. Happy Solstice!
Macallan Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. It's been a rough week.
Having a Sam Adams summer something or other, later it'll be Larceny Bourbon.
Harpoon white IPA.
Newcastle Bombshell. Not bad.
I wasn't a fan of it is rather stick to the regular Newcastle
from CJs Brewing in Commerce Twp, MI. Growler fills are only $4.50 on Tuesdays, whether you are a mug club member or not. The beer and food are terrific, and whoever does the hiring has a good eye. Drink up me hardies, yo ho!
This should be a permanent link on the home page with reviews.
How is it?
It is everything I hoped it would be. I have two more bottles left too.
Awesome avatar by the way. Beer labels in motion?
Had one last night too. And wow! It's a kick in the mouth for sure. It put me to bed.
Beers of Summer sampler. Not to many, charter fishing off the Big Rock, NC coast in the morning. Like waiting for Christmas.
BBA Siberian Night.
This fancy dude. Ate you eating grey poupon with your beverage?
They're selling that shit at Costco here in Chicago for $150...tempted to get it every time I'm there.
...for about 135 USD. That Costco price is damn good though.
Murphy's Stout. The best Cork has to give.
Got a growler of Schmoz' bonecrusher. Cuz if light can penetrate it, I don't want it.
Schmoz has great stuff, and they're good guys too.
Schmoz is awful.
Just tried Jolly Pumpkin's Basil Limeade--that is tasty stuff. Non-alcoholic though.
Sixpoint Resin from the can. I'm not usually a double IPA fan but this is really hitting the spot tonight. I wasn't sure what I should do for a first post so I thought a drinking thread would be a good way to ease in.
Im drinking from a drinking fountain in the E.R. at UofM hospital. Why in the fuck does the hospital have an MSU football game on all the tv's in the waiting room for 3 god damn hrs? My only reasoning is that its on the BTN.
Large fountain coke with popcorn and a ring pop. First time for guys only movie night with my 3 year old. Had an absolute blast watching Monsters University. The movie was really funny and we got some good dude time.
Well no cause tomorrow is Sunday
Lagunitas Lil Sumpin IPA
On the rocks.
Odd sides simcoe session, then dragons milk, followed up with a glass of cardhu
New Belgium Abbey Ale probably followed by Ska Brewing's Modus Hoperandi.
Shock Top at Grand Blanc Family Fun Fest beer tent!
Nice! Linden Mill days has nothing but crap
Nothing. I'm parched
Ok water now
You guys post, I'm not sure if Bud light is all that glamorous anymore. Hell with it. Breakout the Meth....
Straight out of Amhers, Wisconsin: Central Water's Muddpuppy Porter!
The liver is evil and we must punish it.
But on the real I'm just enjoying some crystal punch right now
A founders all day IPA at the moment.
I'm drinking Great Lakes/Deschutes Class of '88 Imperial Smoked Porter and Chimay Grand Reserve tonight.
Sipping on a nice Shiner assortment pack and some Tennessee Moonshine.
I couldn't muster 4 of those 6. I'm always good for their hef and enjoyed the black lager too, but I just don't care for their bock, ruby, prickly pear or blonde. Maybe that's not the right ones, but regardless, hef and BL were my favorites.
A muddled lemon with crown royal on the rocks.
Cuts it just enough. Not that it needs it through.
Mother Earth - Hop Diggity Double India Pale Ale. It's heavenly.
Pint of Pliny.
Frankenmuth Brewery Hefeweizen.
I'm such a sucker for hefeweizens.
Gotta big day of travel tomorrow, off to vacationland.
Quick survey - the amount of work it takes to go on vacation is double the relief a vacation provides. Agree?
If you're like me, no vacation no relief.
Forties of OE
Havent had one of those since i was a teenager. That shit will definitely tear you up though.
Well the Brown Jug has summer specials on Sex on the beach. It doesn't sound manly but I will take whatever. I'm at pancharos to sober up now
Just watched Bullitt at the theater and drank a pitcher of Ninkasi's Sterling Pilsner.
Old fashioned cocktail. Backed by Spud Boys IPA.
Sculpin ipa . West coast son.
Hill Farmstead: Susan, Edward, Society and Solitude #2 and #3, Everett, and What is Enlightenment?
Yeah, I was on a VT beercation.
A neighbor was in VT on vacation and brought back a four-pack for me. Packs a punch.
Hamm's, Hamm's, Blue, some IPA from Oregon, Hamm's, Kona brown from Perrin, buffalo trace, buffalo trace and water, water with ice then bed.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
