OT: It's a Boy!!! (Notre Dame loses again)

So, today we found out that we're having a boy, which I'm totally stoked about. I would have been thrilled with a girl too, but it's our first child, so naturally I wanted a boy first. The great part is, that during the game Saturday night, my wife (A Notre Dame grad) made a bet with m.e After Notre Dame scored the go ahead touchdown with some thirty odd seconds left, I said Michigan still had time to at least tie this game. So high in her revelry was she, she told me that if by "some miracle" Michigan won, I could decorate the baby room any way I so chose, boy or girl. I had been jokingly threatening to decorate the room in Michigan colors and such even if it were a girl for months. The topper, was that I had made a comment that I was going to make a Bo Schembechler baby mobile above her crib. That every time it spinned, it says "The Team, The Team, The Team". Having no clue if something like that were even possible, she agreed. Turns out it is possible! I have a few engineering friends that I graduated with from Michigan that say it's easily doable. All we have to do, is find little stuffed toy heads of Bo, which aren't easy to find, but I'm sure we can do something.

Her face when Michigan scored was one of biblical hatred, Which was made it even better,  when my friend informed her that the Bo Schembechler baby mobile was indeed possible. Her only consolation is that I told her I wouldn't hang a picture of The General, with the caption "To Hell With Notre Dame" at the bottom.Glorious night, Go Blue!

we're both in Indy from our user names.  We have twin girls that are almost 12.  It's been hard at every stage - just in different ways.  I suspect you're in pure survival mode right now - feed, sleep, work, etc.  Gets easier from a constant supervision standpoint, but more challenging from a discipline standpoint.  I'm taking one of the twins to the Minnesota game - will be her first!  Will the other one next year!

Congrats. I thought I wanted a boy, but 16 years ago my wife had a girl. I took her to the b-ball games to watch the fab 5. She convinced me to get club seats and is always there for football and hockey games. She will make someone a great wife. She can't cook anything more than Mac and cheese but can tell you a lot about football and hockey.
You don't have to have a boy to transmit your love of u of m sports, you just have to have someone who wants to spend time with you and thinks you know everythig about everything. Parenthood is wonderful!

I have a 5 year-old daughter and a 4 year-old son.  Kids really do change things, but I love them both dearly. Incidentally, my family rivalry comes this Saturday, as my wife is an Eastern  Michigan alum (I did my graduate work at Eastern, but my undergraduate years at Michigan are the proudest of my academic career). I keep telling her, "2-1 is a decent start,  right?"

Hopefully, I have two fine additions to that campus in Ann Arbor in their beds right now.

My wife and I just had our first kid (girl) a month ago. As we discussed names weeks and months before I was trying to come up with Michigan related names just to get a reaction out of her. One of us came up with Maizey Blue. My wife actually thought it was cute. But unfortunately Maizey wasn't on her top 3 list but we did keep Blue as the middle name!

At first I thought the OP's bet was going to be about naming the baby Denard. That would be awesome...

But good luck with the mobile. Maybe you can post a picture of the finished product?

something to look forward to is taking your kids to the Big House as often as possible.  i did that with my son growing up.  he's 30 and lives in atlanta now but we both get a pass one weekend a year to have a father-son bonding weekend at a UM home game of his choice.  brought his 5 year-old along this year for his first game.  three genrations - awesome.

9 and 6 to their 1st game this weekend. They've had to deal with a lot of tsio b.s. (mostly at school). Wife and I are hoping this weekend makes them Wolverines for life. Look out for a baseball commit in 2020 and a qb/ath and track star in 2024!

Regardless, I hope you and your wife get on the same page. This is not the kind of bet I would insist on collecting.
