OT-ish: Need a ride to dallas
So if this doesnt belong on the board mods feel free to delete it. Pretty much I am a student at michigan and have a ticket to the bama game. However I was out of the country this summer and the people I got tickets with decided to fly down and by the time i got back to the states plane tickets were a little too expensive. The moral of the story is I am looking for a ride down to dallas from ann arbor. I have people/places to stay in both nashville (if you plan on stopping there on the way down thursday night as i know some people are) and in dalllas. I also may have a ride lined up from outside mgoblog but its not for sure and since the game is in a week im exploring my options.
tl;dr If you are driving down from aa to dallas and have a spot in your car say hi.

Credit to maizenbluedevil for linking this in another thread, but I'd highly recommend Mike Partlow for this ride to Dallas:

I've now spent the last hour reading through the other e-mails on that site. Thanks.

If a car was travelling at 80 miles per hour, how long do you think you could grip the roof rack for? I'm looking to only stop every third rest stop or so.

I was assured it would be nice by the man that took my down payment over the phone.

This will be my girlfriend's first Michigan game, so I got the hut with the glass bottom. Nothing's too good for my girl.

I feel sorry for you if you marry that girl. In that I mean no offense, but you seem to be setting your own bar very high...

241 dollars on amtrak, but at least you get to see the Heartland of America from the tracks.

my friends and I are doing.

Factor in all the time screwing around in airports and it doesn't take that much longer. Plus you have plenty of room, can get up and roam the train, and food worth eating. I'm down with that.

I hate amtrak, when I compared prices and times it was not even close to worth considering. It's cheaper, but not much, and takes significantly longer.

But no airport hassles, which can be huge, especially with all the weather going on these days. Also more relaxed atmosphere and better views.

Your screen name is a dangerous weapon. I don't see any problem traveling in a car for 20 hours with you. Wait...

I once took a 28 hour bus ride from GR to Dallas... the last two hours of it were spent sitting next to a very friendly former prisoner of 14 years. He had just been released. Bonus: he didn't even shank me! I highly recommend this method of travel.
P.S. This actually happened.

I actually spent 10 hours on a bus in morocco this summer with a guy who was a convicted felon in the US and just went to morocco to avoid going to jail, so i've already got that under my belt

May want to give that username a look before asking for a ride from a stranger.

Give me your ticket and I'll be glad to give you a ride to Dallas

Hitch hike across the country and people would actually give you a ride. Now a days, if someone were to stop it could be your last ride!
If I were you, I would just rent a car with unlimited miles for a weekend and drive down yourself. May be you could give someone else a ride and split the gas cost. Buses and trains are way too slow.

jon watersjust actually hitchhiked across the country for the hell of it, so i guess it possible

if youre legitimately thinking about amtrak for 241, i got a flight on spirit air (yes, i know spirit blows) for like 325...

A 5 hour amtrak trip to Chicago can take anywhere from 4.5 hours to 12 hours in my experience.
Not sure I'd rely on Amtrak to get me to Dallas for an event with a firm starting time.

I'm traveling by Flew Powder. I can't disapparate this year, the prices are astronomical, and last year I lost bellatrix's ticket while apparating, boy was she pissed.
