OT-Irish fans hilarious idea if (when) ND loses to Utah

Submitted by maizenblue92 on

A Notre Dame student paper writer had a pretty good idea if (when) Notre Dame loses to Utah on Nov.13. I will let the article do the rest of the explaining.

Bonus: read some of the comments at the bottom. Some fans are NOT liking his idea.

Idea is stupid, the comments are awesome though. For example:
Anonymous Wed Oct 27 2010 12:14 I would advise you to be careful to avoid the football players while doing that, as they tend to be quite large. But then I realized that all you have to do is run the veer and nobody will lay a hand on you.

for some reason i can't cut/paste so here it is almost accurate

"I would advise you to be careful to avoid the football players when you do that, as they tend to be quite large.  But then i realized that all you need to do is run the veer and no one will lay a hand on you."

I mean we have to be closing in on the worst 4 year stretch in UM history right (8-4. 3-9, 5-7, ???)?  I think even Bump Elliot only managed 19 losses in his worst 4 year stretch (we currently have 22 in the last 4 years with 4 losses coming under Carr in '07).

Independent of the whole glass houses/stones issue though, that is hilarious.  Our students should plan something similarly ironic and awesome.

We are currently tied for the most losses in any 4 year period in Michigan history (22).  The last time we accomplished such a feat was with Harry Kipke in 1934-1937 with his teams going 1-7, 4-4, 1-7, 4-4, respectively.  It would appear that we will eclipse this mark against either Illinois, Ohio State, Wisconsin or (most likely) all of the above.

The big difference is Michigan has actually had thrilling victories over that time and a clear progression in talent.

Notre Dame's biggest victory these past 4-6 years was either a loss (the Bush Push game), or, I don't know, the Hawaii bowl game? Michigan probably has had 8 games that were more satisfying than those two, all of which were actual wins no less.

Thanks for posting.

Loved the comment about taking care about not running into any of the players while storming the field followed by the "If you run the veer though, they will never be able to catch you".

EDIT: This was intended to be a response to the second (research) comment of jlvanals.  Screwed up the placement ...

It's been ugly, yeah, but I think a more meaningful statistic would be something like "percent of games lost over a four-year period."  (Today's seasons have more games than in years past.)

You have to know the below response to the article came from a 15-year-old high school kid that hasn't played any sport himself.  I love it.

You guys are a disgrace to Notre Dame and its fans!!! It is clear the school made a huge mistake in admitting such punks to such an awesome school. You kind of sissies are the worst kind of fair-weather fans! The unathletic wusses that never played a sport and have no idea what it takes to compete. But run your mouth trying to tear down the players that have committed so much of themselves to Notre Dame football. You are weak and have no character!!! Keep your negative comments to yourself and be grateful to have such a wonderful opportunity to attend Notre Dame.

However, he has also frequently been followed by shady questions of team discipline and conduct.  Also, there is a lurking suspicion that something structural might be wrong at ND other than just the ND coaches, and if this proves true, perhaps not.

I like how the comments are debating the merits of the idea.  Clearly, this was a sincere suggestion instead of a ND fan cracking under the weight of their self-loathing.

The comments go to show that some people take things/themselves way to seriously.

If this gives the seniors an opportunity to have a good time at the last football game they will attend as students, then they should 100% do it.

It is a sad day when people take things so seriously that they can not laugh off life's smaller misfortunes.
