OT: iPad Apps
Angry Birds & Plants vs Zombies are the most addicting time wasters ever invented (besides mgoblog).
Angry Birds and Flight Control were my favorites for a long time... Until I stumbled onto P-v-Z. Four days later I had beaten it twice and was working on a third play through.
Now I'm addicted to tower defense games. My current favorites are...
I'd also be lost without my Kindle apps, my unit conversion app (don't recall which one exactly), my SF Shot Timer... I know I'm fogetting several... Pandora...
It's the only time I'm good at golf
Doodle Buddy. It's free and it might be the most awesome thing ever.
This is a game that I discovered last week and am totally hooked. You play it like Scrabble, asynchronously, either with people whom you know or (more likely) with complete strangers. Players make moves as time permits, so a game could take hours or even days. This could get boring if you only played one game at a time, but you are allowed to play up to 20 simultaneous games, so you almost always have active games that are waiting for yor next move.
The interface is very professional and it has been pretty stable so far.
WWF (got to love that acronym) is available for iPad/iPhone and I think it has just been released for Android. AFAIK, there is not a web browser version. I am not sure if this is an intentional omission or if they just haven't gotten there yet (more likely the latter, IMO).
This has replaced Crosswords as main treadmill activity (at least, for now).
Words with friends maybe the only thing more addictive than MgoBlog.
Cut the Rope, Kickoff, Ted, CNN, VEVO, Slacker, Groupon, ESPN Scorecenter... These are a few of my favorites...
+1 for Skyline Chili
I'll also plus 1 the skyline chili. I have some in my cupboard right now - in California. I have it shipped out here. I put it on my pasta.
PBS, Time, Flipboard, Aweditorium, Kindle, Goodreader, Photoshop express, Google earth, Pages, Penultimate, NPR, IMBD, BBC News.
Netflix-if you are a subscriber this is must have
Epicurious-tons of recipes
MLB At Bat-if you are a baseball lover and happen to also watch mlb.tv
Osmos HD-my favorite game by far
Atomic Web-much better browser than Safari
Find iPhone-in case your ipad is lost or worse stolen you can lock it or remote wipe it
G-Whizz-integrates gmail, youtube, picasa web albums, facebook, google talk, and all the other awesome gmail applications
TuneIn Radio-Stream thousand of radio stations and even record programs you like or are going to miss. This is actually my favorite app so far.
Is awesome. You can listen to Finebum and when you tired of that you can tune in to a radio station in Munich.
pandora internet radio
Hey, you, what are these apps everyone keeps talking about?
Duh. Doesn't resize to the iPad screen but still a must get
Would people actually use an iPad version of the mgoblog app? I figured the real page looked fine on an iPad.
Great way to integrate content (RSS feeds, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) in one elegant, magazine-like interface.
Demo video here <sigh> repeated embed fail. Used to work before the debacle.
<object width="500" height="311"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/v2vpvEDS00o?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0&hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/v2vpvEDS00o?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="500" height="311"></embed></object>
For now, until the source button comes back, just embed the code in the Plain Text Editor.
Weather Bug - best weather app
Tap Resort - stupid but addicting game
Stick Wars - its an iPhone app but its awesome and works with the iPad
LIFE app is pretty BA. Shows you the news and everything in between with awesome pictures.
Colorsplash is an awesome way to waste all your time making your pictures black and white and choosing which areas of the picture you'd like to stay in color.
iScreen is an app to be used in conjunction with your laptop. It allows you to use your iPad as a second monitor for your computer. Considering I have a 13" macbook, I find it very useful to have a second screen for my school work. I paid $5 for this.
Twitter was made for the iPad. And vice versa. It is awesome.
