OT: Interview with Big Ten Logo Designer
I don't think this article has been posted yet, but it's a fairly interesting interview with the guy who designed the "new" Big Ten/11 logo many ago, and how he has some ideas for a new logo if the conference comes calling. Enjoy.

I've actually used this logo several times in a lecture to illustrate the concept of Figure-Ground Ambiguity. The real argument becomes 'what do you see first, the words Big Ten or the number 11?" Would have loved a more in-depth interview, and how he was selected over others to do the mark, etc.
Another classic example of figure/ground effect is the FedEx logo... Amazing how many people have never taken notice of such an obvious and intentional design.
That'll do it for today, class. For homework today II'd like you all to draw Brutus Buckeye suffering a violent death ten times. See you tomorrow.
Without any doubt the interview is informative and for any fresh logo design junkie its a good one.
