just in case anybody else can't slee, bring up any topic you want.
OT: Insomniac Open Thread
And here I was expecting some cookiees...
They're overpriced anyway.
But their cookie dough brownies? Worth it. *nom*
Nothing better than a glass of milk, one of the peanut butter chocolate and one of the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies at late hours of the night. Way cheaper than Mrs Field's too.
If you're going to make an insomniac thread, I think it should come much later. Like 3AM.
Insomniac thread at 11 PM? Posh. We used to start these threads at 1:30 at the earliest.
I wonder which players will be used in tonight's, There are... thread.
It's eleven o'clock...
and your late nights. Bedtime is 7 PM after Everybody Loves Raymond!
omg. I would postulate that you are my father, except you know how to use a computer.
That would make her anywhere from 9-19 years old. I really, really hope it was the late 70s.
go to sleep without atleast 2 or 3 hours of some latenight History Channel specials of "Nostradamus"
I assume we aren't talking the version with Orson Welles?
Come on man.
It's a good word.....
What I'm wondering is why is Insomnia Cookies is the only food truck around ann arbor. I mean, there's the hot dog carts during spring/fall, but what does it take to get a fish taco around here?
Can you imagine a taco wagon at like 2 am? Sounds like a great business plan, I'm in
Oh. Ohhhh.... Uh. Nevermind.
Some Barry White or Marvin Gaye, perhaps?
Let's get it on, fish tacos
My dog has a cone around his neck so that he can't lick/bite his stitches for a week. He sleeps on the floor next to my bed but he can't get comfortable enough to sleep for long because of the cone. So he wakes up every hour or so, whines, and walks around. Makes it very hard to sleep for long.
Staple the cone to the floor.
PETA would find out, I heard they are omniscient. I don't need Pam Anderson nagging me. Ten years ago maybe. But not now, not now.
Try those out. They are an alternative to the cone. They are made with natural ingredients so they wont harm your dog if he does happen to lick them. They are made by Nurtured Pets. I used them when my dog had a hot spot and they worked great.
doesn't need it's own thread and I missed it if was posted but this is out there.
The roommate of a football player makes the news now? Thats just stupid
At 1:24, does anyone but me hear the "Windows Alert" sound?
Also, any idea who the player is?
"That you'll only see on Local 4."
Maybe because it doesn't fucking matter Devin?
I blame it on the internet, but I just don't seem to give a shit anymore unless I see at least a little nudity. Underwear? Boring. I've become desensitized. Damn Internets!! Or good internets, depending on the way you look at it.
Inglorious Basterds is a fantastic movie. That is, if you like Quentin Tarantino.
It's 11...I'm just starting to wake up. Insomnia is limited to 3am and later in my book.
Meh, Insomnia cookies are overpriced for their size. If I want warm cookies at night, I'm throwing a plate full of chewy Chips'a'hoy cookies in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Keebler's Soft Batch > Chips Ahoy
Is the plan for this thread to create insomnia because it will be so enthralling people will be refreshing so often?
If that is the case, enjoy a moth joke that has nothing to do with anything:
edit: total embed fail:
because I'm a few times zones ahead of you guys getting ready for work...get ready to have your minds blown...on Wednesday! Boom.
Sittin pretty on the Rhine
So...you're from the future.
So where is everybody logging in from? I'm at work in Ann Arbor right now.
Sleep research at the University. Getting experience for grad school. Want to get my PhD in sports psychology
Most of our research is on sleep and depression, but if you want I could try to find some studies that have been done on that topic. Is it pain that is impeding your sleep or something else?
In clinical terms, that makes a lot of sense. Reduced physical acitivity during the day is shown to relate to changes in sleep, especially sleep onset.
While I am not a doctor, there are a few suggestions I can give you. Once you are physically healthy enough to have physical exercise, that could help. However, you DEFINITELY do not want to rush it. Until then, you may want to consider tiring yourself mentally. Maybe some sudoku or crosswords before bed. Mental exersion has also been shown to have a similar effect to physical activity.
Checking in from the room.
Oh hi Denny!
So there is a cookie truck that drives around Ann Arbor in the middle of the night?
What a glorious idea!
Yup. And you can call them and they will bring them to you. Like previously said, overpriced, but they're always hot and gooey. Yum.
It's my birthday tomorrow! What did you guys get me?
Insomnia at 11:00 pm? Man, times have changed. If people are up in 4 hours, then maybe...
well guys, I'm going to bed.
Favorite pizza in the greater Detroit area? I'm going with Motor City Brewing Works in Detroit, with Buddy's running a cloooooooose second
This shit is the bomb...Detroit Style Pizza Turning Heads Around the World "History was made last week at the International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas when pizza maker Shawn Randazzo, co-owner of Cloverleaf Pizza Carryout & Delivery, was the first to ever advance to the finals in both the Traditional and Non-Traditional categories. The competition took place at the 27th Annual Pizza Expo, where more than 900 exhibitors and 7,000 attendees roamed the show floors. The best pizza makers in the world brought their ingredients and best recipes in hopes to become the world’s next Pizza Maker of the Year."
forgot about Cloverleaf. They're pretty damn good. That's a pretty impressive accomplishment too!
WMU chips n smokes, let's go.
you drunk bastard
Oh yeah? Well I've got something you'll never have.
Chips n smokes? They deliver cookies AND cigarettes? That sounds like a genius idea!
Zombies are taking over the world, and you run inside Home Depot......what would you grad to be your weapon of choice?
a 2x4 with a huge nail coming out of it. I'd also probably steal a forklift
Hrmph. The important question is do you have to grab something readily available or do you have time to fashion something more lethal?
Yes does it have to be one product only. With time and several products, you could create some devastating weapons.
Well then I would have to go with a standard of the Zombie Apocalypse Militia-- the machete. Though I would also get a longer stick so I could kill from a distance. I don't want to get undead blood on my nice clothes
...if you could somehow extend it though
Just saying it because you stole my idea.
Hydraulic nail gun. With really big fucking nails.
Home Depot carries those, right?
I think they have gum by the cash register
Zombies can't eat brains if they're busy chewing gum and blowing bubbles.
It's too bad the garden section isn't out around these parts yet. I mean, who doesn't like a nice rhododendron?
There are many options, zombies don't like to get hit with shovels, and you can stab them bayonet style with the pointed edge once they are down. I'm going with a good quality shovel.
Just started the movie on netflix

There is a Jay Z special on Vh1 if anyone is interested. Don't know what time its on until though.
Speaking of Jay-Z my buddy just sent me a link that I thought was great, especially for any zelda fans out there. Search for Ocarina of Rhyme-- it's songs from the game set to rap songs. It's very well done, and I thought maybe some other fellow older videogame geeks would appreciate.
Trailer Park Boys Countdown to Liquor day was awful, just awful. The first movie was good, but the show itself was amazing, especially anything that involved Corey and Trevor. BTW my mgoname was between Jim Lahey and Bob Loblaw from arrested development.
Corey and Trevor
Ok guys, I have a question. If you could see a quantatative or qualatative analysis of anything re: Michigan football, or college football in general (that would be feasible in a limited amount of time) what would it be? I have some extra time on my nights, and when I'm not working on my paper for publication or studying for the GRE, I could use some ideas to keep me busy.
What we really need is a Lloyd Brady interview followed by an MgoGathering in which Lloyd is the guest of honor. You guys supply the beers, I'll supply my backyard, Lloyd will supply the magic.
Haha does anyone watch the bookdocks? There was a great episode making fun of tyler perry. I, too, hate him. In summation, the Boondocks is a great show...watch it!
too bad Tyler Perry got butthurt and forced Cartoon Network to remove it from syndication.
And forces many American's to think that's the best black comics can do. If I was black, I would hate Tyler Perry. Instead I'm not, so I'm just really annoyed
Apparently not many insomniacs around these parts. C'mon people!
Very nice. I should get a computer game to keep me occupied on these long nights. Help my sanity. Any suggestions for free/cheap games I could buy/download?
I recently started playing rollercoaster tycoon again, and it quickly occurred to me how awesome of a game that used to be, and frankly, still is.
That's a great idea, thanks! I'm not sure anyone would be interested about what I have to say, but I will definitely try to think of something I can blog about.
try something natural
Melatonin is natural and has been shown to work very well. Just a warning--take it in low doses. I've slept 18 hrs after taking a few of them when I couldn't sleep.
If you're asking about melatonin, you can get it at pretty much any pharmacy/superstore (meijer, walmart). I have found that taking a half of one 5mg pill works well. Start low and work your way up.
Umm pretty much everything but FreeP.
Good to see a real night owl. All these kids thinking late is 2am. I'm just going to sleep now, but by choice unlike yourself. Good luck to you sir. Might I suggest a little 'bob marley's friend' to help you sleep? Does the trick for me, if you catch my stink...
I'll go and get a flashlight and look in the woods by my house. If God loves me and/or exists then there will be Marley mana there.
I work in a hypertension clinic. The doctor in my clinic routinely recommends Magnesium for sleep. Plain, over-the-counter Magnesium. (He prefers Magnesium Postassium Aspartate but Magnesium Oxide works well, too.) I took it for a long time when I had sleep trouble--500 mg of it about an hour before you want to sleep. Give it a shot!
I'll try that out.
Quick, I'm about to register, and I'm not sure which Conforth class to take!? 209 or 219, any suggestions??
