OT: Insignificant Things Open Thread (NO POLITICS)
Does anybody else want to eat a f*cking deer right now? It's almost 4am and all I can think of right now is eating a g*d damn deer!! F*ck!!
I went hunting tonight, bagged a deer, and am currently chilling on the couch with my daughter while we watch "How It's Made".
Wait you're awake and watching, "How it's Made"? That was my go to background noise while taking naps in my dorm.
Since the other guy completely ruined your post, I just wanted to say congratulations. Sounds like a great night. Don't let people who will never understand get in the way of that.
I've been on the wrong side of a couple of "WTF" posts from you, but I do have to say I look forward to your insights more than almost any other poster here.
Also, I can't disagree with your choice in movies.
Thanks! I certainly understand what you mean; my positions are my own and I don't just follow the crowd. Doesn't always make me the most popular. Thank you for the kind words. Same goes for you, though. I really enjoy your insight, too.
Severely underrated movie. :)
I'm doing some readings for my History of Michigan class (unfortunately not History of Michigan Football) while partaking in MACtion.
That was one of my favorite undergrad electives. Very interesting material.
Ball St vs. Toledo is very significant.
Just played some wonderful mgoblog created NCAA13 dynasty. Looks like some exciting MACtion going on. Thanks for the tip
Just beat ND 70-6 in five minute quarters. Mike Hart ran like his pants were on fire.
On Demand and Netflix are providing much entertainment.
I loved the Youtube videos and saw them when they came to Ann Arbor, but hadn't seen the show at all. It's pretty great.
I saw them when they came to Detriot a few years. It was the most fun I have ever had a concert. Oh such wonderful banter! The first season of their TV show is one of the funniest things ever produced.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?? This is one of the most important days of the year, one that will not only have a great effect on the following months, but the rest of our lives!
I can't believe you would snub the Toledo vs Ball State game like that, shame on you.
did you see who is doing the commentary
did you see who is doing the commentary
Playing through the new Halo campaign and keeping an eye on the election returns on my laptop.
Followed by FUBAR.
So thankful for this blog today! Thank you mgoblog, for being a safe haven from politics because social media sites are the absolute worst today.
Dinner and some hockey before turning on SOA.
SOA = highlight of my night
drinking a beer, just watching the weather change..
That don't bother me at all.
Playin' Solitaire till dawn,
With a deck of 51.
Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo,
Now don't tell me, I've nothin' to do...
The Matthew Broderick, Reese Witherspoon movie.
Raiding my 8 year old's candy stash (he got over 9 pounds of candy on Sunday-trick or treat got weather delayed) while on Mgoblog. TV is on in the background....news or something.....
The GOOD news for me is I live in Ohio and finally the damn ads have ended (both sides). And I'm not kidding when I say that tonight, at 7:20pm (10 minutes to polls closing) there was a Presidential ad on the radio. Battleground states like ours get freaking slammed with ads morning, news and night. About something......
Raiding your 8 year old's stash. Funny. And what does Mrs. Mgrowold say about Halloween candy? 9 pounds? Wow!
At the pistons-nuggets game. Drinking $9 beers.
Now that's a price I'd like to pay for beer.
I went running.
Shorts Pandemonium Pale Ale
I should be doing my law readings, but I just can't do it. I'm fixated on the silver fox.
Sadly, I have to be keeping an eye on the stuff everyone is joking about not seeing: internet, TV, I'm probably supposed to keep track of telegraph and tin-cup telephones as well, per the wishes of my professors (tough to avoid as a public policy student). However, none of them said anything to discourage heavy drinking whilst watching non-Toledo play non-Ball State, so I'm having a better time than I would have thought.
The girlfriend was taunting me saying this fifteen hours of watching was payback for her bigger load as an engineer-to-be until she came home and found a twelve pack and bottle of wine in the fridge. That was worth a pretty good laugh, at least I thought so.
Drinking. Why not on Tuesday?
I have MACtion on the TV and I am playing Civilization V on the laptop as the Germans. Yes, in this particular simulation, I plan to win the Franco-Prussian War. I am sipping Woodchuck Granny Smith hard cider too, and by sipping, I mean about six bottles in.
It would kill mine. Just like good ol' Mikes hard lemonade.
Watching the second best basketball team in the state of Michigan take on the Denver Nuggets.
At work admitting patients...kids don't stop getting sick just cause the MAC is on.
Watching a contest between a turd sandwich and a giant douche.
On a related note, what was the MAC thinking scheduling a game on election night? Tuesday is a weird day to play a college football game to begin with; of all Tuesdays, they pick election day?
Be thankful. At least there's something on TV that doesn't have to do with Politics.
Working on an accounting crib sheet and watching the most important red vs. blue battle in Ohio. Ball State vs. Toledo.
Is that the gimmick? They can't have just neglected to consider the fact that today is election day when they scheduled the game.
I love watching the Toledo vs Ball State game every 4 years. I fell asleep on the couch watching it in 2000 and have done the same thing each time this game has come around since.
it'll let you slice off a slab.
Hunting is a far more humane way of attaining meat than shopping in your local grocery store.
Just got Halo 4, so I am breaking that in. Too bad I am through half a bottle of J&B. I am doing worse with each drink
Yes, I'm following the race with interest. (trust that isn't "politics.") But I'm personally in a position where I refuse to endorse any candidates, ever, and refuse to reveal how I vote, ever, and have to quash politics discussions regularly. So, I really appreciate the consistent "no politics" stance of mgoblog. It allows me to read and to relate to fellow Michigan fans without partisanship and politics gumming up the works.
People with your political affiliation never talk politics because they're always wrong!!!!1!!1!11!!!!
You got me. All I can do is smile.
Is it a game? Is it a sport? I insist it is an (enjoyable) activity....and we should do Soduko as opposed to play Soduko...
/sudoku, but still
I find it extremely comforting that, no matter the results of any and all contests tonight, half the country will be upset with OHIO tomorrow.
I don't need an election to hate Ohio. :)
a psych paper. FUN!!!
This thing is neck and neck. Love me some Tuesday night MAC football. Plus Desmond is announcing which is always nice.
Looks like going to come down to Florida and Ohio for the best recruits in the country.
A Paleo dinner....
Bringing home the bacon...then frying it up in the pan.
I personally believe that the paleo diet is unfounded, physiologically speaking.
I also personally believe that the paleo diet is straight-up delicious.
That my family enjoyed the sauce from my Paleo meal, over their pasta.
because there are actually positive signs that the NHL labor talks might actually be progressing so hopefully this crappy lockout will end and I can see some hockey!!
I just vomited and I continue to vomit
I had to deal with a bat in the house. *shrug*
Captain and coke. Jake Ryan. Lost my train of thought. Hail. Bo. HOKE.
That's all for tonight. Back to reruns of Sons of Anarchy.
All networks calling the election for Obama. No opinion presented here, just an FYI.
HOKE for prez. JAKE RYAN for VP.
I'm ignoring the elephant in the room.
I think that's the wrong idiom to use on this particular night.
Wait guys, it is the Toledo Elephants, right?
I apologize for making an ass of myself.
Don't worry few people will make it this far after the explosion of awesome that was the deer debate.
Who wake up at 2:30am because some drunk people goy lost in my neighborhood...so I read that whole hunting/skinny debacle.. Now I'm here. And you're not an elephant or an ass.
I wonder how the people in Ohio feel about their state being colored blue.
Won't be the last time this year.
It's just another indicator that Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

It's the Halo 4 release son!
I'd rather see my friends disrespect one another over politics on Twitter and Facebook than see a grown man cry over someone shooting animals on here.
Nobody who goes to the supermarket for freshly-killed meat has any right to criticize anyone for killing their own. Bambi was not harmed in the writing of this comment.
I'm watching the replay of The Michigan vs. NMU game that I dvr'd yesterday.
Im trying to find a cheap flight to Colorado. I recently heard it's a really nice time to visit.
I bought an iPod nano tonight. It's neat.
I got an exam returned to me today as well. Didn't do quite as well as I thought, but still extremely well. Amazing how getting a good nights sleep contributes to clear thinking. As I write this at 1251am....
I'm finally getting a smart phone on thursday! iPhone 5. never had a smart phone before, I'm excited to download apps & stuff.
I hate to break it to you Yost but we would be so overly populated with deer if people didn't hunt. You'd hit one every other morning on the way to work.
[ED-BiSB: What part of "OMG NO POLITICS" did you not understand? One month in the sin bin]
I see what you didn't do there.
Come now, we're on MGoBlog, which means that there's only one right answer
I got shithouse wasted on MACtion last night and I'm paying the price for it today. Do you know what the cure to a MACtion hangover is? More MACtion.
This board is an oasis.
Got to work early this morning, thought of making my usual social media rounds as I usually do before buckling down and being productive. Realized I could not stomach the griping/gloating mix I would be sure to see everywhere. EUREKA I was reminded that I could come to MGoBlog and not see ANY OF IT.
The first half of this thread (Ghost of Yost vs carnivores) was as funny as anything I've read here in a while. One angry vegan versus the entire board and it was hillarious. The whole thing errupted shortly after I turned off the insignificant thing on TV and went to bed - I'm sorry i missed it live.
Why are the funniest threads always about something other than sports?
You may already know this, but if you want to see some funny, wander over to shaggybevo. There's a whole lot of brilliant, and even more so-stupid-it's-brilliant over there. Couple key words/phrases: MSPaint, and prevailandride.
Oh i've been there. And THIS thread might have been the funniest thing I've ever read in my life....
I wonder if Ghost partakes in eating pancakes and syrup? Syrup is made from the unnecessary bleeding out of poor defenseless trees. Syrup=treeblood. All those poor trees.
Look up how many animals get killed during soy, corn, sugar, etc. harvests. Big machines + little critters = blood tofu. And you're just delusional if you think any supermarket meat is slaughtered more humanely than venison.
But hey, some of us take Bambi to heart harder than others.
Okay, okay. The deer conversation was killed and skinned hours ago. No reason to revive the ghost and beat that up too.
Anyone who won't eat a chicken has not yet met a chicken.
HA.... uh..... collateral damage? No? <sigh>
This thread looks totally different now that the mods have swept through.
My dad and I fixed two old reel to reel players and played with old 8's and Super 8's of everything from my dad at four to me as a baby while watching the election returns (some family were on the ballot in low places). Mostly it was splicing the broken bits back together with the ancient splicing tool I found on Ebay for him. Plan is to show the best of 'em at the family Not Christmas party.
