OT - Inge wins one

Submitted by lbpeley on

Inge takes the first pitch he sees in the bottom of the ninth and deposits it over the left center field wall. Tigers win 3-2.

2 straight days, Ron Washington left his closer in the 'pen as he took tie games into the bottom of the 9th, and he lost both.

What a crapfest.

Ron Washington left his closer who should be a starter in the 'pen as he took tie games into the bottom of the 9th, and he lost both.

Deciding not to start Feliz is a terrible decision regardless of how he's used in the pen, but if Washington is going to insist on using Feliz in save situations rather than high leveraged situations, it's beyond indefensible.

Yeah. People here bitch up a storm about Leyland, but if nothing else, these two games are object lessons in how you manage your bullpen, and how you don't.

in the season, but the Tigers really needed those 2 wins. The bigger positive is they got 3 quality starts in this series. Bullpen is rather shaky at this point, without Perry and Zumaya, so the starters are going to need to have quality starts late into games.

Also, as a bonus, the White Sox blew a 3-run lead in the 9th, and are currently in extra innings with the A's.

EDIT: A's score, lead 5-4.  They still have runners on the corners with no one out.

Tigers have started the season off bad but so have the Twins and Sox. I cant see Cleveland and KC keeping it up over the course of 162 games. Good thing Detroit has series with NYY and TEX already in the books going 3-3 against them. Now the Tigers have to beat the shitty teams.

whenever he hits. No doubt it was big, but i am by all means a brandon hater.

I also agree on earlier posts about not using feliz

Now on to their first west coast road trip. 3 at SEA and 4 at OAK. I would live for them to take 5 of 7 putting them back over .500 going to the homestand but at this point I'll take 4 of 7. Win a few more series and they'll be .500 and just need to build from that this early in the season.

Ryan Perry expects to be back soon, that'll be a huge help for the bullpen. Now if only Porcello and Penny will find out how to not suck.

rip on washington all you want. you dont use your closer in a tie game on the road. you always save him for the lead.  that being said they need some help setting him up.
