He sold his future for last season's title run. How could he have been so blind that he believed a Federal investigation would never see the light of day? If he acts immediately, they maybe lose to Miami last season and still probably make the Sugar Bowl--or at worst have an awesome matchup with Alabama in the Citrus Bowl. I agree, he's a dumbass.

This really is a good laugh. OSU will be feeling the effects of Tressel's Herbie Hancock for many years to come. It's starting on the recruiting trail, lets bring them to their knees with a win this year.

Along the Olentangy is trying to shift the focus on BSU:

Seems there in the denial stage.

Maybe its because I have read what the allegations are and know how legit they are that the Buckeye fans down here don't seem to question it much anymore when I talk to them... Many are now in the "so, what do we do?" debate phase.  It is the know nothing fans that read what other ignoramuses have said about how innocent the whole thing was that don't think he royally screwed up.

offense at OSU or any other institution is beyond me. Having lived here for seven years my only answer is they cannot see what the rest of the world sees because they are blinded by the wins. The NCAA will impose a penalty and hopefully the university Trustees step up and make the right decision that Gee and Smith cannot seem to make.

Tressel will be dismissed.  I'm sure behind closed doors the coaching search has begun and the delay in termination is only to increase the retention of the assistants for the upcoming season.  Honestly, I dont know many TUOOS fans that dont want him booted...and unfortunately I know many.  In a way, the administration probably feels pretty good about timing it all how they please considering they already had the back-up plan in place because of Vest's 5 game suspension and can simply make it a season plan as long as the assistants stay.

Are you serious? Did you even see Gordan Gee at the press confrence? Gordan Gee - "I just hope Tressel does not fire me." This guy is a god in Ohio, but is, and always will be a liar! What shocks me is what Gordan Gee has said in the past, and then says that. REALLY GORDAN....The pressure is coming, but if i were Ohio State, i would already be looking for a coach that has ties with OSU or a young coach that Tressel has mentored. Tressel sold his sould because he thought he had a Natonal Championship team, but played players that he knew were not eligable. He knew what he is doing, but here is the thing, Ohio State Fans will do anything to keep him even though he tarnished his legacy, and the university. If OSU comes out of this with a handslap, i will lose all faith in the NCAA, which is not much.

For some reason I'm still hoping that the Trustees step into Gee's office and tell him what he's about to do, which means either a calander year suspension, a suspension pending NCAA ruling or just a straight dismissal, none of which will have any affect after the NCAA comes down, because he'll have the show-cause and get fired.

Then the NCAA can get away with giving them probation and (hopefully) a two year bowl ban. How awesome would it be to make it to the BTCG and not be able to face OSU because of their cheating ways? I would love to see that in twenty years on Wikipedia when reading the history of that game.

As far as I know, that means Les Wexner would have to put his foot down to get Gee to do something about Tatgate.  I doubt that's going to happen; Wexner's donations are geared towards the academic side of campus and he isn't as intimately involved with osu footbaw as, for example, the infamous booster network, and they aren't going to put pressure on Gee to fire Tressel either.

This may be the case, but at some point Gee is not doing his job. Correct me if I'm wrong, but brand management is a big part of being a chief execuctive (Tony Haywood, anyone?). The OSU brand is taking daily hits in little publications like the NYT, SportsCenter and literally every website that has anything to say about college athletics.

Since he's either unwilling or unable to do his job, one of his superiors should step in and tell him how to do it.

In the State of Ohio I would describe the osu brand as 'robust'.  As long as the fans keep circling the wagons and sticking their heads in the sand Gee can laugh and pick out his favorite fucking bow tie to wear to the next statue unveiling or oh-so-spontaneous flash mob appearance.

It's impossible to look good on campus if you play by the rules, clothes-wise.  Everyone knows the standard uniform for osu students:  Jeans or jogging pants with or without "LOVE PINK" or "JUICY" in strategic spots; osu jackets, shirts, or hoodies, including shirts that say OH on the front and IO on the back (gaaaah), Generic HS Athletic T-shirts with incomprehensible inside jokes on the back, camo hunting hats with plaid lumberjack shirts, and my personal favorite, Sugar Bowl (tainted) Champions 2011 shirts.

I still feel like Tressel will suspended from anything resembling OSU football for a full calender year before silently forcing his resignation. If he is not let go this is the ultimate case of winning > HAHAHA NCAA

It is really quite troublesome that no OSU admin has thee intestinal fortitude to stand up and just do what is necessary . . . let him go man, just let him go.

The longer they wait to do the inevitable only makes them look worse as an institution, which I guess is good for us.

is that for the last decade or so tosu has worked hard to enhance its image as an academic institution and not just a football factory, and they have had some success at doing so.  But as far as their national reputation is concerned, this puts them right back where they started: a huge football factory where academics is secondary.  Nice job, Gordon.  Way to waste that effort.

I honestly feel bad for the graduating seniors there this year. Not only do they face the Michigan/Ohio/Indiana economy right now, but their school is being dragged through the mud (deservingly) and nobody in power is willing to stop the reputational hit. When the president of a university makes a comment that the football coach could fire him, you get a lot of people snickering about the institution itself.

I'm sure this info has been posted somewhere, but when is "the hearing" or meeting with infractions committee supposed to take place for the offenses in question??

Never mind how I know this, but when you're describing something metaphorically as a "circle jerk" it's a really bad idea to search "circle jerk" in Google Images because you'd like to add some visual humor to your metaphor.  It's a terrible idea.

I'll be chatting with my IT department now... .
