OT Idea - Profiles of MgoBloggers
Mates,
The OT season is kind of here, and will be in earnest when the MBB team is done with the NCAA's. We have some pretty creative, interesting and humorous folks on the board and it occured to me that it might be a good idea during the OT season to have a regular 'MGoBlogger Monday Profile' segment. I figure we could do a few of you at one time and that I'd start by picking folks using some combination of seniority and points and work my way through as many as reasonably could be done during the off months. I know there were a few profiles done years ago but none for quite a while. and many new characters are here.
So my questions are these:
1. Good idea or 'meh/pass/stupid'?
2. If good idea, then what general questions/areas would you want to get into? No creepy/stalker/perv stuff (I'm looking at a few of you right now...), but what areas to ask about? Maybe family, job, how became a Michigan fan, hobbies (besides M football, etc), favorite Michigan memory, maybe some wild card questions like 'if you could live any place', or 'have any job' or something along those lines.
Have a great weekend. Super bowl on Sunday.

This has been done before by Six Zero, but it's been dead for a couple years. Six Zero did a series.

I was about to say the same thing. See, for example, this profile of Ace. (This may also be the first public mention of Ace's ska band?)
Good idea, though. Might be worth re-starting, since there's been some turnover in the last few years.

i was thinking of the group of folks who post now, many of whom are new relative to the last time this was done. lots of newer folks to profile, and lots of the old profiles are people that are gone.

Yeah you're right Six-Zero did do a few MGoBlogger Profiles about a year/year and a half ago. Haven't seen him or the profiles since.

I hit "Save" too early. What I was going to say is that Six Zero did a series every off-season for two or three years. There are some up-and-comers who probably didn't have a chance to get profiled back then.

Magnus, other than you, do you remember who he profiled?

Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15-year-old French prostitute named Chloé with webbed feet.
My father would womanize; he would drink; he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament ...
My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon ... luge lessons ... In the spring, we'd make meat helmets ... When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds — pretty standard, really.
At the age of 12, I received my first scribe. At the age of 14, a Zoroastrian named Vilmer ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum — it's breathtaking ... I suggest you try it.

Every time I laugh the whole way....then when he gets to "shorn scrotum" I lose it.

Brian is convinced that I killed my wife even though it was proven long ago not to be true.

CJK5H never gets old. Funnier that Mike Leach signed a book with it.

No creepy/perv stuff, but you're looking at a few of us right now? Hypocrite.

I want to hear the inside stories, the dirt, the laughable instances of drunken debauchery in Super 8s in Topeka with hookers with names like donuts. Names need to be named, and photos provided.

I will say though while I was doing it (92-94) there was one school in B1G who everybody knew was dirty as hell.

For those of us who weren't here for Six Zero's profiles, yes, let's do this.

Ideally (from my perspective) we'd focus on hobbies/pastimes.

I helped out when SixZero and M-Wolverine brought it back in 2013 and it was a pretty cool experience.
IMO the biggest thing is finding a writer/interviewer who can bring the same type of enthusiasm and not-so-professional-professionalism SixZero did originally, and then either getting his okay on format/graphics or coming up with something new.
February 5th, 2016 at 1:20 PM ^
I liked SixZero's profiles and think it would be a fun idea to restart those.

I like the idea of this feature. Reading through some of the previous profiles is enlightening and a good killer of time. My boss is ouf of office next week, so let's do this. Are there any nominees? Someone who has been around could throw some names out there.
