I remember when Brandon Inge grumbled about keeping his infield position.  He didn't want to help his team by moving, despite being badly overpaid.

Since Kinsler's lifetime average outside of Arlington is an Ingeian .242, I'm starting to see a scary parallel.

players hit better at home? Arlington is small so he won't have the power he displayed with the Rangers but you could probably see a lot more drop in for him...add that with the fact he can run the bases and is a threat to steal and I have no idea what you're talking about

That seemed like an odd request to some extent, the Rangers overpaid to keep the light hitting Andrus with full knowledge that they had his immediate replacement outgrowing MiLB pitching.

Obviously they decided to build behind Andrus instead of Kinsler but it seemed odd to ask an All-Star 2B to move to the OF mid season.

I think that's what happens when the hype train gets out of control. With the likes of Puig coming up and putting on a show in LA I'm sure they wanted to give their kid a chance. Ian's in his 30s, they obviously didn't have him in their long term plans anymore so they tried to push him to 1B and OF. Sometimes, it's just best to let your prospects be prospects. As much as I hate St Louis, they have some crazy great pitchers and kids like Taveras waiting for their chance but they never allow the hype to cloud their judgement and alienate their quality veterans.

Inge has only hit over .242 four times in his career and only once since 2006. He's a career .233 hitter with a .301 OBP and that isn't because of some late career slump. Kinsler on the other hand is a career .273 hitter with a .349 OBP. The comparison is asinine. Inge never was even close to the player that Kinsler has been.

He's getting up there in age, and like other posters I expect some decline, but to compare him to Inge is bad.

Jon Daniels does kind of seem like a dbag. He was pissed Nolan Ryan was getting credit for things he felt like he should be getting credit for, and Nolan got sick of his ego so he said "fuck it, I'm out."
