I would welcome him back as well. He isn't a player that will overwhelm you with talent, but certainly a player that makes the team better.

Before I read more than the title of this post, all I could think was, "Return? Rex Hudler never played for the Tigers...and what role would he have when he came back?" April fool's joke on myself, I guess... Seriously, I think Jiri would have helped out a lot this season. Of course if he had been in Detroit he probably would have missed a minimum of 10 games due to injury. Seemed like it was a requirement this year.

When he decided to leave last year, the paper which must not be named suggested he might be back after one year. I can't fault a guy for taking the money. This is one of the drawbacks of the salary cap. If your team has an awesome owner who is willing to pay for the talent in order to win, it is frustrating that they are prevented from doing so. I hope he is back next year. The wings could use him.

I know the Wings are presently deep on the blue line, but I'd like to see them add more youth there. Lidstrom, Rafalski and Stuart aren't getting any younger. I'm not an expert, but maybe they're counting on some of their AHL players to come through.
