OT: How many hours per week do you spend on MGoBlog?

Submitted by Cranky Dave on
My 17 year old daughter asked me that question awhile ago and I've kept track (not to the minute) over the past week. While it's not game week there is a lot of recruiting news so thus week I've been here 13-15 hours. Obviously some of you are on here more, especially those who write diaries (looking at you Alum96). At what point does MGoBlog become an addiction requiring professional help!?

Provably about 5-7 hours per week total. If there is a lot of x and o stuff, I'll usually spend some additional time if it's a scheme / play / audible / blitz, motion, stun / blocking scheme I'm unfamiliar with.

be it on the computer or phone.  I don't check much at work, being a teacher.  But, during football season, it's gotta be refreshed/opened 20 times a night, 100 if I post something.

so I don't think I'm over the top.

I will confess that anytime I am in a store that sells computers, I set screens on MGoBlog and walk away.  The bigger the better.

Well, it can't be more than the amount of time it takes to read every new post and every subsequent thread, every diary and comments and every from page post and comments (and listen to every Podcast) m.golicio.us doesn't count. Wild cards would be watching every video especially recruit highlights. So I wonder what that would add up to? I'm sure UFRs would add a significant amount during season. Interesting...

If I actually kept track, I woud probably be rather ashamed, which is why I don't keep track. That being said, if I had to estimate it, I would have to say that it comes to 30 or so hours per week of continuous viewing, with a bit more during the non-OT season because of the need for mod help and the amount of things going on. Admittedly, it goes down a lot during the spring and summer.

During recruiting blitzes like this week I go from MGoBlog to Twitter to the Edge of the Internet. Take 5 minutes off and then repeat. One thing that pushes me away quickly is if I drill down.a recruits Twitter likes. While I am looking for recruiting connections with other players, I find these kids are following some dirty stuff. Bottom line is too much time 6 to 8 hours a week.

It took a year and a half of lurking before I even made an account, and I was at approx. 2 hours a day then. Now that I have one? It's devolving quickly into a condition I need House to diagnose.

Way too many.

Took a week off last week and it felt great. Caught up on some shows, went and did things with friends, saved my phone battery.

More to come in the future. I don't need to comment on everything anymore. I basically say nothing and just read at the other sites I'm members of (Rivals, Scout, 247).

More than you know.

Ask MGoJohnStamos, LongLiveBo, LSA. They were gonna set up an open thread of a date I had in June and they wanted me to periscope the thing. True story.

I'm a pretty good looking guy. It's not a matter of getting dates. It's not repeating mistakes and saying stupid shit on them.

5-10 hours.... I don't watch TV except for college football.

I usually check it first thing in the morning to wake up and at night to wind down and occasionally during the day if there is something worthwhile.

Depends. During football season it was probably only 5 or so a week. Coaching football doesn't leave much time to check mgoblog. Mostly check after a win or lose and about 10 times a weekday.

But now that my season is over it's probably about 6-8 hours a week in total reading blogs. Check between 10-20 times a day typically just to see if there are any new commis

Speak for themselves. Granted, a lot of them have come from me saying things that get +1'd 50 times, but not all of them. If this site was a drug I'd probably be in rehab by now.

I go through waves. When I'm high on it, I check this site hourly. When things are going poorly or during really down periods, it's probably once a day or so. During IT'S HAPPENING, I was glued for weeks.

6-8 hours/week. Prob less during offseason, but I'm still in full commit watch mode, so it's daily for me right now. Also depends on how busy work is for me. It's definitely the best site I've found for rational thought and updated news

quick checks a few times a day but when I do post it takes up time so I'll round to about an hour of actually being on. Maybe 2 on a busy week for UM or boring week for myself. I've had occasional binges, though.
