OT - how to find a lost android phone
Way too many beers in the sun yesterday and suddenly my phone is MIA. I can call it and it rings so there is still power in it. Does anyone know how to track a phone to find where it is? It is an HTC EVO. I actually went 11 months without losing a phone so this has been a good run.

Do you have Lookout installed?

No I don't. Sounds like I need it if/when I buy a new phone today.

It's Sunday morning but it's Game Week, so I'll go 1pm.
Reason: Kiosk
EDIT: It's after 1pm, my time, Mods must be sleeping.

to just use "Find My iphone" would be snarky, so I flat out refuse to do it.

i is not so much snarky as it is wrong... he is looking for an android phone.

My wife and I can see each other in Google maps using Latitude. I don't know if you will be able to find it if you haven't already configured it though.
The clock is ticking...good luck.

That sounds terrible. Are you nuts?

My wife and I can see each other on Latitude too. It is a helpful tool if you have a good relationship with your spouse. Neither of us have anything to hide from one another and it is sometimes handy to see where she is if we're traveling or planning on meeting up after work - I can see if she's 5 minutes away or half an hour away.

I have your phone, give it a call and I'll answer it. But only if you call from a number I recognize.

call your service provider and ask them to help you.

If someone who finds it can view texts without unlocking the phone, perhaps text it and say "If found, please call XXXX - reward offered" ($50?)

Here you go man: you can download Lookout Plan B to your phone AFTER you've already lost it:

Thanks everybody for all the help. My wife just got a call from the guy that found it...I think in my budlight haze I left it on the back of her bumper and she drove off depositing it many miles away. Appreciate all the help and when I pick it up and exchange it for a new one since the screen is now cracked, I will be downloading the apps you guys recommended.

In a slightly related story from battle creek: this guy had his phone stolen from his car so he calls it and the thief answers. He offers to give the phone back to the guy for $200 and sets up a meeting. Then the victim calls the police where they set up an undercover cop to arrest the guy at the meeting. So he gets the phone back. I know I know cool story bro...

Plan B worked good. It was tracking the guy that had my phone within 2000 meters.
