OT: Honey Badger News
I was listening to Dan Patrick this morning talk about the news coming out on The Honey Badger in the upcoming SI.
Hopefully this kid gets his head on straight before its too late. He was so much fun to watch last year. He just makes plays.

I chuckled for a straight minute on this one.

But you do wonder how much hype he'd get if he didn't have a cool nickname.

His skills were somewhat raw, but clearly his athletic ability is unreal. He was also a phenominal punt returner. I'm not sure of his coverage skills, but he was constantly causing turnovers and making plays.
Bottom line is he better get his life straigh or he's going to waste it away!

He only just makes plays the whole time he's out there. And closeline Dre Kirkpatrick....
But mostly, the play making thing.

3rd to 5th round is terrible. So many people get drafted that high every year, especially considering how few people actually play football.
October 16th, 2012 at 3:11 PM ^
How many of those 3rd-5th rounders get the same kind of publicity? That's the point he's making. The guy was a Heisman finalist, ffs.
October 16th, 2012 at 3:17 PM ^
as a true sophomore....
As a senior, and maybe as a nickel or strong safety his draft stock would be much higher. He's strong on the blitz and against the run.

A lot of highly publicized and immensely sucessful college players don't get drafted in the first two rounds in the NFL for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it is the right decision (ex. Eric Crouch), and sometimes the player overcomes those critiques to have a great career (ex. Doug Floutie). The points many people made about him only being a sophomore are very valid as well.

3rd-5th round as a JUNIOR. Who knows how he would have ended his career but for his stupidity. But I think its clear that he is/was extremely talented.

and the guy wouldn't stop digging LOOK AT HIM DIG

Honey badger takes what he wants.
October 16th, 2012 at 12:23 PM ^
the worst thing possible might be for him to land in the NFL; with all the leeches and parasites he's got back home who regard him as nothing more than a meal ticket, his money would disappear as quickly as Vince Young's did. He'd end up with multiple kids with multiple women just like his father, and that'll drain his bank account right there.
Lucas is doing great things trying to get people like Mathieu back on track, but he's up against some heavy odds in this case.

"Honey Badger" needs to be a legacy nickname that gets passed down to future generations of players, like our legacy jerseys. It's too good to let go.

I really wish Tyrann well. Such a sad story, one that has been repeated so many times. My own family has been affected deeply by someone who couldn't get clean and make good choices: as a result, we adopted twins to help out.
I have a few comments, after reading a number of the posts.
- Have some compassion on those who make bad choices.
- When you have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of someone who is disadvantaged, please do something. I don't mean that you should enable them to continue bad behavior. But if you can show someone a better way to live, try to do something. I've been struck, with my son's football teams, how much of a difference good coaches can make in the lives of many boys.
- Relationships and addictions are complicated. Not everyone can just buck up, and do the right thing.
- Be thankful for the family you have, especially when you've been given advantages and taught how to deal with substances, and with finances, and with ability.

Maybe it'd be a good idea to share what the news is in your post...?

The news is that he's not going to be back on the field for LSU as he was hoping to do. His name and photos have been used to promote clubs and it sounds as if he's received benefits from this. Thus, his eligibility is done.
I would say this is definitely news to the Football world as many thought he was going to have a run at being an All-American and possibly a Heisman shot.........

I agree. Just seems like it would be useful to include that little tidbit into the post or perhaps even the title.

What I took away from the article is that weed might be the least of the Honey Badger's problems and that he's hanging around LSU waiting for a 2nd chance that he might not even be eligable for.

and he might have been the third best db on the team last year -

He'll take his skills to Oblivian for the all I threw away a great opportunity team with Tate Forcier.

As someone who grew up with a substance abuser for a father and as I was married to one for 15 years, there are just somethings I cannot make fun of. Good luck to this kid. God bless him and I hope he gets his shit together.
