OT-Holtz up to his usual....

Submitted by yoopergoblue on

Slobberin' Lou Holtz recently spoke at a banquet in Fort Wayne, IN and he was asked about the current state of ND football.

In his usual homerish way he predicted Brian Kelly will win a NC and possibly THIS YEAR! I can't wait to see him tear up when we kick his ass in South Bend this fall!

Lou Holtz has no credibility. I know he coached at ND, but try to be more objective. He said they would win a NC this year and they didn't even go to a bowl. ND will be lucky to win 6 games, even with their crappy schedule. They lose a lot on offense. Is Allen gone?

I don't understand Holtz. Every year he picks ND to win the NC, and they haven't won a bowl game in 16 years. You'd think he would at least downgrade to ND winning ANY bowl game and then move on to winning the championship from there.

ADDITION: I'm curious to hear what irish has to say on this subject...

and how often?"

Along with many others, on another board I responded unsuspectingly to the seemingly straightforward question.

Only to discover the next morning that I had been pwned as the original post had been changed in the middle of the night to

"At which B10 campuses have you made love to another man, and how often?"

I just had to ((in slow motion))***clap.....clap....clap...clap..clap..clap***

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

A HC at ND isn't successful unless they win a national championship, and even then it is still up for debate. Lou wants Kelly to be successful and thinks he will be this year. I would be happy with a winning record right now

Floyd, Allen, Hughes, Rudolph, Crist, Fleming, Te'o. With their schedule, although it pretty much should be a given every year for them, they should win 6-7 games this season minimum.

....is the h

But seriously, their defense was/is the problem and I think it will be better this year. The offense might take a step back but I see them beating Stanford (iffy), BC, Western Mich., Navy, Tulsa, Army, and Utah (iffy).

Holtz does have zero credibility. He really chapped my ass when he gave his imaginary pep talk to Penn State in 2007 telling them they would beat Michigan.

But I made my sign (because we knew we'd win based on his prediction alone), saying:

A
Bad
Choice
of words, Holtz.

We also snuck a marker into the stadium and my inebriated roommate wrote "JoePa eats butthole" on the back of the sign. We got raucous laughter from the rows behind us.

Any of you guys see that by chance?

I'm guessing the majority of the people at that Chamber of Commerce meeting came to see Lou speak, and are ND fans. So being a little rah-rah about them there is not as bad as doing it in front of a National TV audience. And having hope for a new coach is not unheard of.

I mean, I'd guess we'd get a lot of hits on this site if we did a search on "Rich Rod" and "winning National Championship".

Now, saying THIS YEAR is kind of a strain of faith. I mean, who knows...with their schedule they could go undefeated then lose by 100 in the Bowl. Hehe...nnnaaaaahhhhh.

He also predicted on that "ask doctor lou" that Michigan would win big under RR. Let's hope that is the case, but predicting they are gonna win a NC with kelly so soon is laughable.

Speaking of ludicrous claims, I remember an article written in the 2008 Wolverine football preview giving some reasons on why Michigan might win the Big Ten. Haha, oh man...But yeah, I'm sure this will be a similar situation in South Bend this year.

Holtz has become a parody of himself as he has gotten older, but he is still the last decent coach ND had. I wish he would quit before he embarasses himself, but ESPN still wants to pay him. It would be really difficult to give up those paychecks and being on national TV every week.

We ridicule Holtz for being such a ND homer, but I'd really like if we had a ridiculous Michigan homer in the MSM. Your typical idiotboy doesn't get the in-depth expert analysis from us internet-warriors, and sometimes Lou Holtz is the only opinion they hear. Wouldn't it be great to have someone like that fellate Michigan over and over on ESPN?

At least he's entertaining, too.
