OT: Holcomb and McGuffie 2-man bobsled
Maybe this is old news, but ...
I was channel surfing last night and found a live broadcast of an international competition of 2-man bobsled. I watched for a while and when the U.S. team took their run, I noticed a familiar name: Sam McGuffie. He is the brakeman for team USA 2-man bobsled (Steven Holcomb is the pilot).
They had a poor run (due to equipment issues with the sled) and finished 12th in the competition.
In any event, I found it interesting that Sam was now competing at a top level in international bobsled and thought I'd share.

how a kid from Texas gets interested in bobsledding. Then again, IIRC Jamaica actually has its own national bobsled team for Olympic competition.

That probably wouldn't have worked out either, given that Christian McCaffrey was about 12 when McGuffie was at Michigan. I doubt he would have been that effective.

I remember being more excited about his recruitment than most way back when.
I was heartbroken when he decided to transfer.
