OT: help finding where this picture is from?

Submitted by go16blue on

I recently found this picture when going through some stuff my dad saved from when he went to michigan (class of 85), and I want to know what game it was from (it might not be from when he was at UM). I was hoping that maybe one of you remembers some of the players or even the game; Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for the bad quality. Some hints that I have been able to find out so far:

We were playing MSU (back when they had numbers on their helmets)

You may not be able to see it because of the quality, but the number of MSU's returner looks like its 28. It definitely starts with a 2

EDIT: smaller pic:

I had to go through my Dad's stuff when he died-hope this is not that kind of time for you.  I found all kinds of cool Michigam memento's and such.  I had a great pain in my heart remembering the games him and I sat through together.

Then I looked in an unmarked shoe box in the back of his closet and found the poloroids from his 17 years of single life between my Mother and his second wife where he was a Key Club Playboy member.

Nothing like having to stick old poloroids of naked pop's having his tool worked on by women half his age down my pants so his greiving widow would not have to endure such horror.  Somewhere the old man was laughing his ass off.

it was a fairly big load (poor cuss didn't have the internet). I had flown in from Boston and we had two days to clear all his stuff out. I remember us cursing him, laughing and crying, as we filled up my brother's trunk and went to a couple of dirty book places trying to unload them (silly us, we thought there might at least be a very good meal in what we'd get for them). We ended up dropping them very furtively in a dumpster somewhere in Royal Oak and hightailing it home.

Too bad that game was never broadcast on TV.  But Sparty was on probation and as punishment, they weren't allowed to have any of their games broadcast.  I guess that explains why our game with Minnesota was on ABC that year.  (The Gophers led by QB Tony Dungy)

The only clip I've ever seen of that MSU game was Rob Lytle's 75 yard TD run.
