OT: Hash Bash

Submitted by amir_6 on
Just curious, do any of you guys think the annual hash bash will interfere with me bringing the kids to the spring game?

I remember 2 years ago how crazy it was with HB and the Basketball team in the final four.

The amount of actual students who are there nowadays is pretty slim compared to everyone else who goes. Plenty of Juggalos in attendance

The only place I really recall running into a lot of those people was the diag and by Dominicks where they had a temporary stage setup for a band to play (not sure if that happens every year or that was a one time thing)

Really? Is "Reefer Madness" your favorite movie...? It's not like those who are partaking in Hash Bash will suddenly turn into zombies and eat your brains - let them have their own kind of fun while you enjoy the Spring Game

The few students that are so judgmental about the people who come into town. I see several of them have found their way here. You know the type. The ones that yell "get a job" at people they know nothing about based on what they choose to wear on one day out of the year. They're no different than prohibitionists.

Please. I support legalization. It is a good policy.  I even think smoking marijuana once in a while in moderation, isn't such a a bad thing for some people.  I have even been involved in the marijuana legalization movement, because it aligns with my political philosophy.

But that does not mean I can't judge and think all of the guys dressed in counter cultural apparel aren't idiots?  They are practically begging to be judged- they love being hipster. The people at Hash Bash are so far removed from what is considered normal or productive it isn't even funny. Many of them have been smoking multiple times a day for decades- that messes with your head.

Marijuana would already be legalized if the majority of the people in the movement weren't lazy-ass stoners.  Events like hash bash do the movement a disservice.

This event would be a turn off for me if I'm looking for a home away from home for my kid.      Probably work with Hash Bash organizers and pick another day to host the event.

I thought hash bash was supposed to be closer to April 20th?

I was always confused about what people did for hash bash. From what I cou ld tell every year the town filled up with a bunch of hipppies who basically just walked around town. Not hatin, just curious.

I happened to log in to the ol' MGoBlog tonight from Amsterdam (not a half mile from a joint-vending "coffeehouse" no less) so clicking on this thread took on some extra humor value. (No I didn't try one.)

What some people may not be aware of is that marijuana (specifically the THC) legitimately has potential for huge, huge medical benefits. It's thought to protect against neuronal damage/dysfunction, meaning it could be an effective treatment for slowing, or even preventing the progression of degenerative brain diseases like Alzheimer's and even CTE

...Just imagine the NFL/NCAA mandating players be allocated a few hours each week to smoke a couple blunts, hit some bongs, and just get flat-out blitzed.

Medical marijuana should be legalized nationally. I have no idea why it's not. But I'm uneasy about legalizing marijuana in general because of the ease with which kids under 18 will be able to get it. I don't care what the over 18 crowd does. But there's been enough research to show that kids' brains shouldn't be high. And from what I understand, the THC levels in some of the new products are stronger than what I remember from high school and college. I don't worry if kids smoke on occasion (don't tell my son that). But I knew a lot of kids in high school who couldn't really do anything socially unless they were high.......

you'll all understand when you have kids. Everything changes.
