OT: Hard Knocks

Submitted by mich_hockey_6 on
I didn't see anything about this last night or today. The first episode of Hard Knocks aired last night on HBO. Does anyone know why J.J. Watt would be wearing a Michigan hat?

Braves took their color scheme with them to Atlanta in 1966. The Brewers were always yellow and blue (and I believe moved from somewhere else). They did basically take their old hat and just change the colors with the same "M" logo, although the Braves pretty much took the old hat and just changed the letter with the same color scheme.

Haven't seen the show, but guessing it's one of the three yellow/blue M hats here:

He had it on multiple times throughout the show and towards the end of the show they had a close up of the back and it looked to have an MLB distinction. Might it be an alternative for a Brewers hat?

Not sure how much was edited by his publicist called the NFL, but his Vision Quest like workouts after practice were pretty bad ass to see.

My only question is why wouldn't any dlineman trying to make the team just follow him around and do what he is doing?

Other good highlights were Romeo getting pissed, Obrien watching Mallet throw a horrid pick, Wilfork hooping and JJ Watt needling Wilfork to hulksmash a rookie in a drill.

I lost it when Wilfork was playing basketball and called "Duncan" when he tried to go off glass and missed on the opposite side of the hoop. He caught fire soon after but my goodness that was funny

Vince Wilfork is a decent basketball player. And super sweaty! It would such to have to cover him. Reminds me of Ben Stiller covering the hairy, sweaty guy in Along Came Polly.

I enjoyed watching it.  I think you have to separate the "do it for the camera" moments from the real thing.  I've never been a devoted viewer of this program, but it was definitely entertaining.  I liked the way BOB handled himself as a head coach.  Makes me happy that he's not still at Penn St.

It was a revelation that Romeo Crennell was still coaching.  That dude has been around a loooooong time.  According to wiki he started his coaching career back in 1970 at Western Kentucky

Hopefully I remember to tune in next Tuesday.

I work in TV and I just have to say it's crazy how fast they churn these episodes out. Quality episodes at that.

A few things. I like O'Brien seems like a good coach. I forgot how much coaches swear though, for the most part you just don't get that from leadership in the workforce now days.

No way Wilfork makes it through the season at that age and size.

for such a fast turnaround. As far as swearing goes....I think a few coaches know cameras are on them. Bob seems like he's like that and Vrabel actually had me laughing but Romeo K seemed a bit disingenuous with his hundred shits a minute, IMO. Still, great episode. Oh, I'd also advise D. Hall keep his old ass quiet. He was drafted in 1988 and is still in the league b/c Washington was Washington and can't afford to cut him. He tried starting shit with a dude half his age and wound up looking stupid with a broken as ankle, ACL, hip and ego... haha.

Vince has only missed 18 games in a 12 year career that has included 21 playoff appearences.  Most of them were from 2 years ago when he tore his achilles.  He came back last year and played all 16 games plus won the Super Bowl.  I get why people are concerned about his age but he's gonna be fine.  He's still doing things like this:

Being a huge Texans fan obviously I loved the show. I thought JJ was wearing a Michigan hat too and was like whaaaaat? But no it's a Brewers hat. If you look in one of the team meetings later on in the show he has the same hat in different colors.

He was doing a little grandstanding for the cameras but he really does work like that. He's the best because he puts in the work and doesn't get complacent. He reminds me of Jerry Rice.
