Active prevention before you start drinking is as if not more valuable than what you do when you are done drinking. At least from my experience that seems to be the case. Have a full stomach when you go out.

OK, finally get to use some of the skills I learned in school. Night before, put a multivitamin and a couple ibuprofen in your pocket (for people like me who never actually make it back home!) down these with tons of water before you go to sleep. Sleep for as long as you can possibly handle, and then a little bit more. After you get up take another round of vitamin and ibuprofen with (again ) tons of water. Immediately proceed to a greasy breakfast joint, I prefer a local greasy-spoon, but a chain like Waffle House will suffice. It is important to consume enough greasy food to a) have a "purging"* effect of the impurities from the night before within 30 min after you leave and b)so that after the meal you can no longer stay awake and are forced to take a 2-3 hr nap. You will awake feeling pretty well despite the night before and will now to ready to take a shower and do it all over again! This method is quite simple and carried me through college. * note: purging needs to be of the squatting variety, not the kneeling, if this occurs process must be repeated.

While I personally don't partake in such things I have heard that a lil morning smoke can cure many a hangover. Greasy food helps me tho or something to get adrenaline going like running, playing a sport, or throwing up

3 liters of water and 10-12 mins in a Suana. Then rinse off with cool water. Then go back in the sauna for another 10 mins and shower with cold water. take asprin too. That is the best remedy I have discovered.

Double strength coffee, scrambled eggs with a slice of American cheese on top with some Tobasco or Franks, and an English muffin with a shit-ton of butter. Then water.

Step 1: stay in bed or move to a horizontal position on the couch Step 2: hit a bowl or two Step 3: down gatorade, water, or pickle juice (tons of sodium and electrolytes to hold in water) Step 4: watch uninterupted DVR'd programming (commercials make me angry when I'm hungover) while downing a pint of ice cream to replace lost sugars, and order mexican food because I'm too lazy to move Step 5: repeat as necessary I attempt to never schedule important events after days I know will induce a hangover (like this weekend).

I agree with many of the sentiments above, namely that dehydration, deficiency of B-vitamins, etc. are the cause of the hangover, along with alcohol affecting REM sleep- but I'm also of the belief that a hangover is also caused by alcohol withdrawal. Hence, perhaps in addition to everything above, a bloody mary might not be a bad idea. For other ideas, check out the intranets: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangover_cure#Possible_remedies

send you a thrashing of Ohio State, an old school beat down of Sparty, and an eviceration of Notre Dame in Brian Kelly's debut in the rivalry. I don't know if it would take your hangover away, but it would be a decent tonic for our general Michigan football malaise.

at least 3 ibuprofen before you crash. If nausea and headache persist in the morning anyway. A chocolate frosty from Wendy's will soothe the sour stomach. If that's not available a chocolate shake from MC Ds will help. For the headache, lots of advil and sacking out on the coach with a Michigan football videos.

I think I saw a hangover cures episode on Food Network or something. Hair of the dog works temporarily because technically a hangover is your body going through withdrawal from some of the chemicals in alcohol, along with your body trying to process / flush them out. So drinking again essentially delays withdrawal. My perspective is that if you have time, I think going the hair of the dog route can spread things out and decrease the intensity of the hangover a bit.

Also, caffeine + Tylenol = bad All of the above chemicals are metabolized in the liver. When used in combination, they can lead to acute liver damage. As has been mentioned, drink water both before going to bed and after getting up, since the hangover is partially dehydration. Make sure to eat something that is easily metabolized first, then go on to a larger meal once you can get food down.

At a conferece and one of the girls got so sick she had to go to the ER. Doc prescribed her some meds, something to counter the effects of the hangover. Not sure what it is, but found it interesting.

If you can handle it, go for a run. Seriously, something about the second half of a relatively long run (5-ish miles) just cleans it right up, and you're just tired from staying up too late.

Agreed. This seems to help me out a lot. But there were some days when I just could not even think about running I was so messed up. I also recommend the following: 3 advil. bacon, egg & cheese on a roll. Small coffee. coconut water (The large liter sizes do the trick for me).

ALWAYS take 2 or 3 Excedrin PM with some water before passing out. I HAVE NEVER had a hangover when I remembered to do this. IN the morning get out the bong and suck up a couple nice pokes......ready for work in minutes!

eat greasy foods prior to drinking, and drinking darker liquids whether it be beer or liquor such as whiskey/bourbon make for a worse hangover. As for the morning after, gatorade, eggs, and ibuprofen does the trick

Go to an AA meeting. That will cure any hangover. But be careful. It will also screw up your drinking. You can try what they suggest or they'll refund your misery.

Here is a recipe for oral rehydration solution, which is primarily used for kids with diarrhea. It is also one hell of a hangover cure [EDIT: This is basically the same as Pedialyte, but cheaper]

as previously stated in the thread I like the copious amounts of water plus the alka seltzer prior to sleep, then after waking in the morning burnt toast, pedialyte and a banana.

Water until you stop puking, then water and a gatorade and some asprin. Then once you feel up to eating, eat and down some caffine, just the amount you normally have with a meal. Keep up with the water until you are peeing clear and have to go every fifteen minutes. That is as good as you are going to feel until the next day.
