OT- Gruden To Be Next Canes Coach
I think Gruden will tear it up at Miami...I would have taken Gruden over Harbaugh...But i dont think RR is going anywhere.

RR: Calvin, heard you're going for an interview down south.
Calvin: Yep!
RR: One leg up on the old ball-coach. I get it! Do me a favor and hook up with the HA HA and Randy S. for lunch while you're down there.
Calvin: You betcha!

if it happened. But I get the feeling he'll get a HC job somewhere else.

How in the hell did Harbaugh's name even come up in this?
November 30th, 2010 at 10:04 PM ^
A striking resemblance if I must say!
I'll believe it when he's in uniform.

As far as comparing Gruden to Weis, Callahan, etc., I disagree.
Dude was a successful NFL HC.
I'm fairly sure his brother will recruit the hell out of the state of Florida.
This could definitely make Miami a contender in 1-2 years.

He reminds me a lot of Jimmy Johnson. A players coach and a tough guy, nice move Miami.

Everything I've heard suggests that Gruden is far from a players coach, actually. There were rumors that part of the reason he got fired in Tampa Bay was that the entire team hated him.

I never thought Gruden was a great fit for the college game. I guess its better to watch him at another program than watch him struggle with yours. I feel hes going to be closer to the Weis/Wannstedt type than Saban or Carroll.

I've always like Gruden. I can see him bringing miami back to being a good team very quickly.

@SaveUMFootball is a good follow for news on this..

...is probably one of the most overrated super bowl winning coaches of all time.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:42 PM ^
Dungy definitely did the heavy lifting for that championship.
December 1st, 2010 at 11:29 AM ^
That is the most ridiculous argument that I have ever heard. Rich Mckay and Monte Kiffin maybe, but not Dungy. Dungy couldn't put them over the top.

gruden may be too smart for his own good
he was one of the sleep on the sofa guys in the pros
he will try to jam too much down the throats of the college kids to get a decided tactical advantage
schemes are nice, but in the end it boils down to blocking and tackling
November 30th, 2010 at 10:42 PM ^
When was the last time a successful pro coach made it in the college game? Such a different job. (I put "successful" in there to exclude Carroll.)
November 30th, 2010 at 10:50 PM ^
This kinda begs the question.... How does this affect our Florida recruiting?
November 30th, 2010 at 11:19 PM ^
the "glitch" is exactly that, and will keep him from signing. gruden wants to stay in the pros, and is simply drumming up notoriety again. rodriguez is their man, youll see soon enough.

was a great coach in the NFL... I'm just wondering if he can translate well to the college ranks
November 30th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
Hopefully English can be translated to the Miami players.

will now recruit a ton of qbs!

Gruden's act gets really old after four five years to most players. In college, just when they get really sick of him, they graduate. And then, he doesn't seem so bad after all. Miami is a decent place for Gruden; his personality is made to order for South Beach.
Also, recruits respect Super Bowl rings. If this actually happens, I expect Miami to be a major player again. And I feel very sorry for UCF and FSU, because it will become a lot harder for either school to break into the "Big Three" now.

NFL coaches that have done well in college? Leave out the college coaches who went to the NFL and went back to college....
December 1st, 2010 at 10:20 AM ^
Yea.... this is false. I heard Mike and Mike on ESPN this morning at Gruden has not accepted the offer. He is a pro guy. College is a different game.
