OT: Greg Oden Arrested
Well that's something.
Perfect.
would punch in slow-motion, Bugs Bunny style. You've got at least 2-3 seconds to doge his fist, and even if he connects, it's not moving very quickly. Dude looks out of it.
Luckily for Oden, his grandson Lebron James, should have no problem bailing him out.
Ah...he's wearing the "classy" OSU shirt, too. Nice touch.
SPOILER ALERT: Whatever punishment he receives will not be enough.
at his beach house in Portland?

I have to play geography-nazi: Portland's not on the coast.

Mein Führer says that Portland, Arkansas is not... however it is near a creek and a few ponds.

A rival fanbase can't laugh at this? A former star player from a rival University, arrested while wearing a ridiculous shirt repping his team featuring a player who was ejected and throwing a fit as he left the playing field?
You're REALLY going to be sarcastic about a rival fanbase getting a chuckle out of that?
Florida has an ex-player on trial for MURDER. Does that mean, their fans can't get some rivalry ribbing in when the star player and Heisman Trophy winner on their rival's team gets in trouble for stealing crab legs?
Of course they can. That's a very small part of a rivalry.
Just like if this thread was "OT: Greg Oden passes away"...you'd get a SHIT TON of MICHIGAN fans expressing their condolences and heartfelt feelings for Oden, his family, and even his former University that happens to be Michigan's biggest rival. That too, is also a small part of a rivalry.

Taylor and C'sonte's legal problems resulted from fighting other guys. While certainly not excusable, I have a far easier time defending them than a guy who punched a woman. Not to mention any other of the cornucopia of other Ohio State arrests that blot the police report in the morning's.

You might want to dig a little deeper in your memory for things Taylor is alleged to have done if you have a particular problem with victimizing women.

If Oden did what the story makes it seem like he did - i.e., punch a woman in the face, that's awful and I hope he suffers mightily for it.
But I feel compelled to remind Oden and oh-so-many OSU faithful that "Ohio" is spelled O-H-I-O not O-Y-I-O. (And not O-I-H-O, for that matter. Why is it that our rivals have such trouble spelling things, including the Fig Things?)
Not only is it a very short word, but it usually takes at least two of them, sometimes four, to spell the word. Sheesh.
Acurate spelling is challenging.
always love your posts man, classic.
Roger Godell is outraged at this vicious attack on women and believes the NBA should throw the book at Oden. No mercy. Let their IRON FIST be felt in all it's rage and retributional glory.
Three game suspension.
AND NOT A GAME LESS!
If you do the math, you're talking about Oden being suspended for 10 games and the first quarter.
Sad.

This is career ending.

Every time we start talkin bout boxin, some white guy got to pull Rocky Marciano out they ass!!

THAT'S THEY ONE!!!
Like they did Hyde. Hitting women is sick.
Considering how they are about everything else, the fact he only played one season there is enough that they won't identify with him very much. He is from Indiana, so I bet they blame Bobby Knight more than anyone else...

This is the University that honored a man on probation for their football team's biggest scandal in history...during a game in which the current team could not complete their season with a B1G Championship or a bowl game because of this man/team.
Of course they're going to defend Oden.
Although, after actually watching the Hyde thing...it was 100% wrong, but it wasn't Ray Rice. You should never put your hands on a woman, but the Hyde thing wasn't a fight or a knockout or anything like that. She swung at him a few times, he slapped back at her...whether his intent was to block her swings or hit her is certainly up for debate. But he basically ended up hitting slapping away her flying arms and immediately walked off the stage.
... please, +100 to this poster who is obviously wise beyond his joined date.

It's not that he's injury prone, it's just that bones become brittle with age. How much stress do you think 132 year-old bones can handle?
August 7th, 2014 at 10:04 AM ^
It can easily be taken as if he hates Ohio himself.

No more NBA benches for Greg Oden.
August 7th, 2014 at 10:13 AM ^
Aboout the lack of playing time.
So what to do about it? Beat your wife / girlfiriend / any woman?
What a role model.
if this situation follows any recent patterns, would the alleged girl expect an engagement ring anytime soon?

The few stories about Oden I've heard all led me to believe he was a good guy.
August 7th, 2014 at 11:17 AM ^
He always came across as an intelligent & insightful kid (especially considering how young he is). Think I remember reading that he had/has/always will have a pretty serious drinking problem, which is most likely the at the root of this mess.
