OT: Graffiti - Making Your MICHIGAN Mark

Submitted by MaizeMN on

It's a slow Saturday, hopefully there will be a Hello Post tomorrow afternoon for Luiji Vilain. In the interim, I saw on Harbaugh's Twitter that he spent his lunch break at Pretzel Bell, carving a block M into a table. It reminded me of the time that I carved my initials/grad class into a tree near the duck pond on North Campus.  I'm sure some of my fellow MGoVandals also left an indelible impression somewhere on campus. Anyone care to confess?

30 years ago, I wrote my nickname in white out on a closet door, 4th floor of South Quad. When we went on a campus tour with my son 4 years ago, it was still there.

My mom and I put stickers under the bleachers at Ohio Stadium when we were there last year for my cousin's graduation. They said "Go blue, may Ohio State never have a winning record against Michigan".

Dr JAWS is carved on a eucalyptus tree in the Eucalyptus Grove at UC Berkeley. The smell in that place mesmerizing. Every day I walked right through it to get to lab

I left my blood on the carpet of East Squad's madrigal lounge in 2004 during a particularly violent game of spoons. Does that count??

I doubt it is still there, but one time - possibly in a drunken haze - I put a hastily made memorial plaque with my own name on it on the door of a restroom in Dennison. I am not sure why, possibly I thought that I was reserving my plaque location for the day I could donate enough to earn one.

My career left a mark on campus certainly - the steel poles at Packard and Madison, next to the former location of Blimpy Burger, were poles that I designed. I consider that my personal gate to central campus as a result. Sadly, one of them has been since removed.

There is a block M on the first floor @ La Palapa, San Pedro, Belize.  Me and Mrs. Gopoohgo spent a drunken afternoon in that little slice of paradise.

When I was a student one of the computer labs was near the Dental school, by a bridge that goes toward the CCRB. This computer lab had skylights which could be seen from the path above. I hated this lab. One night a buddy and I got extremely drunk at one of the bars on Liberty then walked back toward Markley where we lived. We both decided to piss all over those skylights. Fortunately we were arrested. It wasn't indelible however.

I can't say where or when, but I once put a small teddy bear and some magnets right on a high school's football field. Right atop their logo, sending a strong message. Pretty badass, amirite?

One of my teachers assigned us to make a poster at the end of the school year. I made every M a block M, and I drew Jim Harbaugh on a dollar bill (it was a campaign finance poster).
