LONG OVERDUE
OT: Good Comedies
Great point. It's definitely a little less of an acquired taste. Both fantastic.
Very Bad Things
Anchorman and The Hangover.
"No touching of the hair or face! And that's it!"
"I tried to but a pencil in the light socket but it was too wide and didn't fit so I used a paperclip."-Terrelle Pryor, Future Rhodes Scholar
Am I the only person who didn't think Anchorman was funny? Friends will quote it and I'll laugh, but sitting down and watching it, it just wasn't funny.
I honestly couldn't stand [Anchorman] the first time I tried watching it. Somehow, after initial disappointment, it grew on me. It might be that the humor is a little different from typical comedies and therefore takes some adjusting.
My suggestion: Death at a Funeral (United Kingdom version)

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
It's better to hate to lose, than love to win.
It's so good it's stupid, or maybe the other way around.

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.

I pissed off five or six of my friends during high school by insisting we rent this movie and laughing hysterically throughout the entire thing. They did not enjoy it.
Slap Shot 2?

(And I can't find on YouTube the classic "best golf movie ever made? worst golf movie ever made?" commercial...)

is a great movie but it can only be watched on a movie channel... when its on normal cable TV with all of the swearing edited out its just not the same...

Hurry to meet death before your place is taken.
Half-Baked if you are gonna be fully baked.
Office space as well.
Me fail english thats unpossible!
Not a movie, but you should have a marathon viewing session of the Trailer Park Boys DVDs (all seasons are available on Netflix now as well). I'm sure JimLahey will agree wholeheartedly with me on this one.
One of the funniest shows I've ever seen, hands down. Definitely inspired many of today's hit comedy shows such as It's Always Sunny (the intro seems like a direct ripoff of TPB).
As far as movies go, I've always got a special place in my heart for BASEketball.
^ This.
Trailer Park Boys + Netflix Instant Watch = Instant ROFL
some others...
I'm going to give an honorable mention to "Date Night." Even with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey, I didn't have high hopes when I rented it, but the strip club scene had me rolling.
All right Lemmings. Bring the heat.
You railed off 4 that I was going to post. +1. Surprised The Jerk didn't get mentioned more considering Brian's post the other day. Hot Tub is underrated. "Is cox still there? Is dix still there?"
Throw in Superbad, Hangover, Big Lebowski and Something About Mary.
Most of these are 15+ years old haha
Can I get a vote for Fired Up for new movies?
They make great action, drama, et al. Movies now, great comedies are few and far between. Hangover might get there, Anchorman...but classics don't come along as often as in other genres. I remember when There's Something About Mary came out, and thinking something that funny hadn't come out in a long time.

Scarecrow. Seriously, it's so bad it's funny.
More that come to mind:
Not Another Teen Movie
Almost Heroes - if you like Chris Farley and don't mind Matthew Perry
SuperTroopers (already said but I still agree)
The others mentioned above are all pretty good choices as well though.
Not Another Teen Movie is awesome. It seems like it never gets its due.
anyone remember Dont be a Menace While drinking Ginn & Juice in the Park.. or something close to that..
How can you kill that which has no life
Don't be a Menace to South Central while drinking your juice in the Hood. Great title, okay movie. The best Wayans movie has to be I'm gonna get you Sucka!
Chaos is found in greatest abundance wherever order is being sought. It always defeats order because it is better organized.
who enjoyed "Your Higness"...for when you need some low-brow stoner comedy with good cgi, but when you want something with more substance than Scary Movie 3/4.

“The blue in our ribbons may fade, our trophies may become tarnished, the gleam of our medals lose luster, but the emotional experiences of joy and elation will never be forgotten.”
Young Frankenstein not being mentioned until now? neg yourselves, people.
also, Blazing Saddles has to be the top one. you have to find an unedited version tho.
Harold & Kumar is a good one not mentioned.
Strange Brew is a cult classic, probably not in a traditional top 10.
Stir Crazy & The Woman in Red are good Gene Wilder flicks, i'd lean toward Stir Crazy b/c duh Richard Pryor.
The Toy is also classic Pryor.
Harvard: The MICHIGAN of the East

Young Frankenstein was mentioned an hour ago.
All right Lemmings. Bring the heat.
eh, i skimmed the thread.
how about austin poweres & waynes world as a make up?

But I like your lists. Harold and Kumar underrated. Reminds me of an amalgam of my friends in college. Wayne's World 1 is a classic, if for no other reason Tia Carrere.

And Austin Powers 2, when he realized Dr. Evil and all the other characters were funnier than AP himself.

IMHO, Hot Rod and Zoolander are up there along with Dumb & Dumber, SuperTroopers, Wedding Crashers and some of those other classics.
Stripes is a MUST on this list. Bill Murray at the top of his game.
Any movie watching comedy -fest also requires monty python.
No radio. Nothing of value.
It is spelled HOKEAMANIA. Our coach is an ass-kicking American citizen, not one of the Beatles, for Christ's sake!

Totally agree about The Other Guys...completely came out of left field and turned out amazing. Undercover Brother has that same quality, btw
Wiggum: Do they have Krusty partially gelatinated non-dairy gum-based beverages?
Lou: Mm-hm. They call 'em, "shakes."
Eddie: Huh, shakes. You don't know what you're gettin'.
