OT: God damn it, Red Wings.

Up 4-2 with five minutes left, beat 5-4 in OT. Frustrating to watch.

How many 2 goal leads do they plan on blowing this season? I think they've blown 4 in the last 5 or something maddening like that. And is it just me, or is Brad Stuart always doing something that results in an opposition goal. Ugh. (On a more positive note, good to see Lidstrom get 2 goals.)

I'm pretty sure we angered someone very important somewhere along the line. Michigan basketball: Ugh. Michigan football: UGH. Red Wings (this year): Ugh... Pistons: UGH Tigers: UGH! Lions: LOL. I just want the pain to go away :(

They're NOT horrible at all. They're actually playing really good hockey. They totally outplayed the Capitals on the road last week (I was there), they outplayed the Coyotes today; and they have to be playing well to get two goal leads, but then the urgency just disappears and BOOM they blow it. I'm sure Bobcock is going nuts b/c if they just played a full game instead of taking 5-10 minute breaks, they would have won these games. That's why it's so frustrating. No one cares that the Lions lose b/c they are terrible, but the Wings are actually pretty good - even with Holms and Frazen still out.

So save rah-rah moral victory type of talk as the scoreboard is all that matters. Squandering points game in, game out when the team is already in 8th is a very dangerous game that COULD lead to real disappointment come April. They can't blame these last couple on the injuries as they had the lead in the third and then promptly gave it away each night. Lastly, pretty good teams know how to close teams out, something the Wings can't do at all right now.

No one is suggesting that moral victories = playoff spot (or that this was even a moral victory). However, there is a big difference between playing well and losing (Red Wings) and playing playing poorly and losing (Calgary Flames). The former requires significantly less adjustment to fix, which provides hope for improvement. If all you care about is whether they are in the playoffs are not, check back in March/April and we'll let you know - there's no reason for you to watch the games now.

that is the Wings' competition is it not? My frustration is that they are a still a very loaded team that just came off a run to game 7 of the Cup Finals 6 months prior and now are giving away points left and right, have a nearly maxed out cap position, can't finish teams off and consequently barely sit in 8th place in late January. How this cannot bother/concern you is a better question. In closing, it should be noted that I'm a little on edge after the two dong kicks that occurred last night at Crisler AND the Joe.

Of course, I'd like to see the Wings win more games and especially hold on to leads. But, as I said earlier, there is a difference between playing poorly and losing and playing well and losing. I'm not as worreid as you b/c I think they can correct the mistakes b/c they are playing competitively. If they were simply getting outplayed, then we'd have a real reason to be concerned. Also, the Wings are not the same loaded team as last year. You don't lose a 30+ goal scorer and suffer the massive amount of injuries (they had 8 or 9 guys out at one time during the season) w/o suffering any ill impacts. Last year, you could argue that the Wings were the deepest team in the league. This year, they barely have two solid lines. It's frustrating now, but the #1 team during the regular season rarely wins the Cup. Just got to peak at the right time and I think they still have that opportunity.

The Wings just need to get some punch back in their lineup, not to mention some veteran experience and savvy. The skill, heart and desire of inexperienced youth can only take you so far.

However, with the games I just watched, I have drank a few beverages in the past half hour. What is there left to say? They keep leaving points on the table. It might cost them a playoff spot or it might just cost them seeding in the West. They need to start getting two points consistently.

Especially hurts that we can't land on the correct side of the fence, the home team is supposed to get the roll. As we get players back, the anxiety I have (caused by the wings flirting with missing the playoffs) will fade into nothingness. As long as we get in, Stanley's Cup is ours for the taking. Here's to hoping we mesh in time.. sigh

FUCKING BULL SHIT. How hard is it to hold a fucking 4-2 lead with 8 minutes left in the 3rd period. If Detroit claims they are a puck possession team then FUCKING BE IT. This season has been very frustrating and I'm pissed as hell about last night's lost. For the first time in a while I'm scared that we might miss the playoffs.

I could not believe this game last night. This was a game the Wings really needed if they are going to make the playoffs and keep the streak alive. Very poor showing. Clear the puck.
