walking around town and getting into an argument.  its kind of like a mobile jeweler.  who is going to be safer, the business which has set security or the fool sporting his stash around town?

The last thing this country needs is more legal intoxicants to deaden our youths' minds and further denegrate this nations already failing workforce.  Do you want your kids riding on a bus after the driver has smoked a pipe of "legal" marijuana.  Do you want your doctor diagnosing your illness after abusing that hashish oil?   Let alone the increase in potency.  I don't want to be driving on the same roads as these potheads.  And we're going to have newborns with birth defects from their mother's abuse.

Much as I like the idea of anthropomorphizing legal intoxicants, they really aren't capable of "denigrating" our workforce.

To your point, though, while alcohol is legal despite being incredibly dangerous in its effect on judgement, the vast majority of bus drivers and doctors don't actually practice their craft under the influence. And there are plenty of legal recreational or prescriptive products out there that cause birth defects or low birth weight. You actually reason like you are wasted.

You do understand that "bus driver" can get his weed and smoke it regardless if it's legal or not right? You are driving on the roads with potheads every day regardless if it's legal or not. Honestly, it's probably easier for kids to get pot than alcohol because it's not regulated. It's way to easy to get it now days and who knows where the fuck the billions of dollars spent on it are going.

I know that when I was in high school (think around Y2K) it was far easier for us to get weed than alcohol. We spent countless hours finding liquer stores that wouldn't look TOO closeley at our fake I.D.'s and asking peoples older siblings to buy us booze, but when we wanted weed, we made a phone call and had it in 10 minutes. I know the same goes for kids today because when my students talk about wanting weed to be legal, I bring up that it would likely make it about as hard for them to get as alcohol and they usually change their mind about wanting it legalized (obviously short sighted but they are teenagers).

Bom,

It's legal where I live and I sure as heck don't partake.  Spending billions of dollars to prohibit a vegetable is extremely idiotic, especially when it has many beneficial effects, such as anti-cancer.  That's my opinion.

There is no scientific consensus on this, in fact some of the same research on cannabinoid effect on individual cells has also demonstrated the opposite - that they can aggravate tumor cells and/or damage healthy cells. And we're talking about high concentrations that one could never achieve outside a laboratory.

There is some evidence that weed does better than placebo at ameliorating the negative side effects of chemo. But that's it (though that's enough in my book to support medicinal use).

Ok, but how do you make the "anti-cancer" claim without scientific research? There are all sorts of claims, yet cancer rates persist or actually worsen and the only things proven to cure or prolong life are the old triumvirate of surgery, chemo and radiation.

I hear this all the time, my gf is an acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese medicine, and I have spent a lot of time in China, but the only thing Chinese medicine has to show with respect to cancer outcomes is slightly elevated rates of kidney cancer due to some of the toxic herbs they put in people's bodies.

And what makes you think this isn't happening already? Someone who wants weed is going to find a way to get it. And what's to stop some bus driver or doctor from downing a flask of whiskey before heading off to work? I suppose you're going to tell me that's not the point, right?

But hey, if you think it's a good idea to spend billions of taxpayer dollars a year to outlaw a plant that is far less harmful than alcohol, then I guess that's your business.

Old and ignorant is no way to go through life but you can still do something about the latter. You should educate yourself about cannabis. Could be helpful wisdom in your twilight years.
