OT: GIFbang time

Submitted by 1464 on

Been a while since I've seen a good ole-fashioned GIF thread.  As first to act, I will raise:

And the winner of this year's "thread most likely to cause my computer to freeze up" goes to.......1484!

My personal fave was the dog dragging it's ass across the floor while the dude was lifting.  That's funny as hell.

what's the general consensus, is "gif" pronounced with a hard "G" sound, or with a "j" sound like the peanut butter? Yes, things like this concern my feeble brain.

I had a dream last night that I woke up and it was August 31st. I was pumped for the UM-Central game.

Then I actually woke up and I was thoroughly upset..

Frame rate and the pan is really smooth till he leaps and then it gets pretty jerky for a second. And I know from my physics 140 days that even if there's no air resistance that vx1=vx2 and it looks like he's accelerating after jumping

I say great catch, but the gif or video was modified to make it look even better..unless someone can find the actual video of that catch to prove me wrong

I'm not saying the gif isn't doctored; it definitely has a kind of different tempo or "feel" after he leaves his feet. However, I could see someone making the following reasonable argument: At first when he leaves his feet, we focus more on the upper body. However, as the legs go over, they have the greater radial velocity as the torso stays closer to the center. Hence the legs look like they're moving faster. It appears to me that until we recognize the velocity's radial nature, we don't appreciate how fast he's going.

That's just my take on it, though. In the end it's about is conclusive as that rapture guy video with the girl supposedly getting touched inappropriately. We could sit here and Zapruder the shit out of it for hours and never agree.

But as first to act, you cannot raise. You can only bet.

Edit: ...unless there were blinds. You're playing Hold 'Em, aren't you? Never mind.
