OT- Game of Thrones S04E04 @ 9:00: Oathkeeper
I personally think "Karl" Drago sounds much more intimidating.
Aww yeah. Fuck da police.
Yep, knew I was asking for that. Well played.
Reading the second book, Clash of Kings, right now. How similar is the series to the books? I've thoroughly enjoyed reading the first two.
Up to now, the series sometimes diverges from the books, but not overall -- the story just takes a somewhat different path to the same end.
Part of last night's episode was quite different from the books, but so far everybody can still end up where they do in the books.
Fun too to see where the divergence happens and how they will get back to our massage the books. For me it's a double bonus , for purists I guess it's annoying.
Mad Men really blew GoT out of the park tonight!
I can't wait to see how Don handles reporting to Lou.
It's hard enough to find enough time to read the Supreme Court’s decision in Schuette v. Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action (BAMN) at 572 U.S. ____ (2014),* among other work-related non-fiction, so I don’t get to read much fiction. I haven’t read the books on which Game of Thrones is based, so I only know the story as it's being told by HBO; but I’ve enjoyed the series very much.
Without knowing how much the TV series diverges from the books, I thought that there were several interesting plot developments tonight that made for a great episode.
I liked that Oathkeeper, with lots of quick edits, managed to bring on a large group of the regulars and featured players. Only people who seemed to be missing tonight were Arya Stark and The Hound; Tywinn Lannister (mentioned, but not seen), Oberyn Martell, Lord Varys and Maester Pycelle among the current Kings Landing Crew; Stannis Baratheon and Family, Melisandre and Ser Davos Seaworth; the Boltons and the Greyjoys (though I suppose Locke serves as a representative of the Boltons); Mance Rayder, Ygritte and the Wildlings (again, mentioned, but not seen); and Rickon Stark and Osha.
* OT: Somewhat surprised that -- unless I've missed the posts on MGoBlog, I haven't read anything about the impact of the decision upholding Michigan's ban on affirmative action in Schuette v. Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action (BAMN), if any, on Michigan's football and basketball recruiting.in African-American communities.
Winter is coming...
Lesson Learned: Avoid mentioning legal decisions on this board. Winter Has Arrived. I've felt the chilly response from the board.
I thought my question was innocent. I guess, like Jon Snow, I "know nothing" about how hostile this board can be. No insults were intended. Apologies to those who were offended.
Ygritte is way hotter in the show than I imagined her in the books.
Brienne is less ugly in the show.
Arya is all around awesome.
Sansa is Sansa=who cares
Dany=hotter in books I think, but maybe the child look just isn't my thing.
