OT- Game of Thrones S04E02 @ 9;00 PM: The Lion and the Rose

Submitted by Eastside Maize on

An obvious allusion to the Lannister and Tyrell wedding. I'm curious to see what mischief Prince Obeyren will get into at the wedding/reception. As always no book spoilers. Enjoy.

Too much book talk in this thread, I'm out for this week.  Gonna be tough to discuss this episode with anyone that's read the books, it seems.  Nobody's fault, just nature of the beast.

The AV club from the Onion folks, www.avclub.com does two distinct recaps for GoT. One for those that have read the books and one for those who haven't. Book spoilers are heavily ban-hammered in the non-books thread. Here's the link for the non-book readers thread for last night's episode

If you're looking for discussing the show with absolutely no spoilerage from the books, that's a great place to do it.

...but there were a ton of clues. Fun is going to be see how the rest of the season plays out and how true they are to books. Lot of flexibility in here and so much going on that seems inane. Hard to do in a tv show, easier in a book.

Actually thought this episode was one of my least favorite. Most of the others, even when my reading caught up with the shows, have been more than amazing. This one, kind of meh.

As people have already mentioned, it was Olenna, with help from Littlefinger and Dontos (in the book atleast). If you watch closely during the scene where she pays her respects to Sansa about Robb, and touches Sansa's hair, one of the stones on Sansa's necklace goes missing. The cup Joffrey drinks out of was in front of Olenna while he is eating the cake. The stone she took from Sansa was a capsule filled with poison.

Because why?

Since I read the books I could give a shit, but you my dear are just an idiot or a huge ahole for not following protocol.

Theories are fun but posting the specific answer from the book when clearly no one wants it is kind of deucebaggery.

Guess it is a sports blog though, so carry on.

The reason people doubt the "official" explanation is because it comes through Character A telling Character B what happened, and Character A, like many others characters, is not always reliable.  In any of these so-called compelling theories they only provide circumstantial evidence without refuting the original case.

I admit I'm highly wary of such "alternate" theories ever since reading the utterly crackpot nonsense about Tyrion actually being a Targaryen rather than a Lannister, but still.

People already mentioned Olenna as being responisble... no real spoiler there. I just pointed out what was in the episode last night. How is that a spoiler? Anyone watching close enough would have caught it. Dontos also helps Sansa escape the wedding, so obviously he is involved. Pointing out littlefinger as part of the plan is the only "spoiler" I put out there. Get over yourselves.
