"It's kinda crazy because it doesn't surprise me that he would push himself to do something like this," said the boys' father, Sam Gandee. "It's still amazing to me every minute of this but that's how his mind works. [Hunter] wants to do big things, he wants to do things that help people, he's always been a very compassionate kid."

I would definitely say that he's off to an awesome start when it comes to doing big things and helping people, from the way it looks here. This is a wonderful story and a great way to raise the awareness that Gandee wanted for cerebral palsy, I think.

Where did all these chopped onions and dust in my eye come from? Just as I started watching this clip! Curse you, chopped onions and dust in my eye!

I haven't seen the 2014-2015 Michigan Wrestling schedule yet, but I'd hope that some consideration would be given to making Hunter and Braden Gandee the honorary captains for one of the team's matches this coming season.

enough stories about love of family and committment like that one.  God bless those boys, that family, and their efforts to help similarly challenged children.  go blue!

Remember reading about this kid on the board some time ago, and the local Chicago NBC affiliate showed a snippet on this last night, also.  Great story.  It's truly amazing what love can motivate someone to do.  Although the Gandees are young yet, reminds me of Dick and Rick (father and son, respectively) Hoyt.

NBC Nightly News (on NBC right now throughout much of the country) will be covering this story within the next 15 minutes.  It was one of their lead-in "teasers" at the start of their news broadcast, showing the boys sporting Michigan caps..

(both the capitalized and lower-case this morning) was near the end of their coverage when I turned on the TV.  (Sorry.  Kept hitting the snooze button.)  Thanks for reminding me to look for the replay.
