Work work work

And when I'm done with work, I'll go home. And the fiancé will be at work. So I'll use that time to get some work done.

one last day off of work, hopefully by getting some chores done and drinking way too much beer/grilling some brats at the pool later.

Then later on I'll be doing some 12oz curls while playing the guitar and getting the tackle box and poles ready for a nice weekend of fishing.

Watching Euro Championship on

Watching Euro Championship on ESPN. Quarter Polish, so I'll be rooting for them to have a good showing, especially since they're one of the host nations. And watching the US WCQ match tonight. One of my buddies from college is coming into town tonight as we've got a wedding to go to tomorrow.

I'm sitting at work, not getting anything done, trying to take my mind off the fact that one of the coaches on our staff unexpectedly died yesterday.

I'm getting a lot of "2012 Season Countdown" posts written, so that's positive, I guess...

I have meetings going up the chain all day.  First my boss, then his boss, then his boss.  Have to get ready for a presentation on Wednesday, the goal of which is supposedly to shame Europe into delivering what they were supposed to deliver six months ago.  "Here is our intern who has produced the following effort toward this project in six weeks which you have not done in six months despite the fact that you supposedly already had it done."  This would be cooler if it weren't a 7 AM meeting.

Getting ready for a whirlwind

Getting ready for a whirlwind weekend.  My pregnant wife is throwing a baby shower for her more pregnant sister (well, further along, I guess there aren't degrees of pregnancy) at our house.  The extra stress isn't helping balance her hormones!  I'll thankfully be mostly tasked with entertaining our daughter all weekend, which I always enjoy.  Trying to think of something other than going to the park, hiking, or hitting the bike trail.  Has anyone ever taken an almost 3 year old to an art gallery and survived?

Never done the art gallery

Never done the art gallery with the little dude.  Do they have a kids section at the gallery?  Do you guys have any kind of kids museum or nature center around you?  Those are always fun.  Playgrounds are always a hit too.  But hiking sounds like a great excursion for a 3-year-old.  There is so much wonder along the trails for kids that age.  Even just a twig can provide hours of entertainment!

I'm in the middle of the Hocking Hills in SE Ohio and we've been to all the parks a few times.  Her favorite has always been the waterfalls.  I was going to hit the Kennedy Museum at Ohio University and I'm pretty sure they don't have a kids area but there's a nice city park on the grounds of The Ridges where the museum is located.  If you enjoy reading about the history of psychiatric hospitals, and who doesn't, The Ridges was actually a really well run institution that had a sad demise.  Plus it's supposed to be haunted, so it has that going for it too.  Anyway, she's been to several hands on science centers in the area.  I don't know if we're just spending part of the day together or all day, so that will probably determine the plans.  Good suggestions though.  I'm excited that she's growing so fast but I have to admit I'd enjoy her staying this age for a while longer!

I'm mostly have training

I'm mostly have training planned this weekend, I have some adventure races coming up. Riding my bike home from work, then I will be spending tonight navigating in the woods with a map and compass after dark for a few hours. Do some hiking tomorrow with a loaded pack, then maybe mountain biking some either later that day or Sunday morning depending on how I feel. Going to my friend's kid's baptism party on Sunday afternoon where I will likely undo all the work I did by drinking and eating too much. :)

I really want to see

I really want to see Prometheus. I'm not expecting Alien level quality, but it looks like the best Ridley Scott film in a long time (and one of the best sci-fi films of recent memory).

Speaking of great (relatively) recent sci-fi, anyone else really like Moon? Reminds me of Alien a bit, in that it portrays outer space life as very working class and not really all that futuristic (aside from, you know, space stations and space ships and whatnot).

I loved it. I usually hate 3D but I'd recommend it for this one. We had a huge discussion at work last week about what we were hoping to get out of Prometheus, so I'm not sure what defines quality in your eyes. I wanted more story and less pop-out-of-the-dark-that-makes-you-jump-even-when-you-know-it's-coming stuff and I got that. I thought it was incredibly well done, though, and I'd say it's right up there with the first 2.

I'm hoping for a thought-provoking story, some good acting, and more growing tension/suspense than jump-scares. I guess, even though I know it takes place in the same universe, I thought it didn't look like a new Alien, but that it had the potential to be in the Blade Runner vein, which would be awesome.

EDIT: Thanks for the post-movie follow-up!

Working from home...

I'm also "working" from home today.  After finishing up a few more conference calls and emails, I'm heading out to see Prometheus.  Bonus- still get the matinee price, since I'm on the west coast.

Revising a questionnaire that I've been working on, then putting that bad boy online to collect data for some psychometric testing. Maybe revise a manuscript for resubmission.

Also, sending out more job applications. Following the girlfriend to NYC after I graduate this summer, and it's my understanding that NYC is an expensive place, so I feel like I should probably have an income. Any one out there need a social scientist with a strong background in experimental research design and quantitative methods?

Avoiding work by looking up

Avoiding work by looking up the passenger list of the ship that my grandfather and his family came over on from Germany in 1924. There seem to be several distant cousins on the ship, so I have been using my best google stalking skills to find out more about them.  Unfortunately, I didn't turn up anything, but it's still fascinating.

Genealogy is a fun rabbit

Genealogy is a fun rabbit hole.  I used to be incredulous that people found it interesting; "How can anyone make a hobby out of simply writing down when people were born & died, and who they married?"  Then I got into it; there is no cure for the addiction.

It has deepened and enriched the connections I feel to my family and my spouse's family, and changed the way I think about many things.  Very cool.

Same Sort Of Stuff...

This morning has been dominated by a mysterious string of trouble orders that somehow keep getting directed to my department, where we sit here, look up the work, and then have the sad duty of informing customers that they need to call our lovely 800 number one more time. I also had to dig for the old specs on an installation we haven't approved in ages so I could help a customer maintenance their meter box. You can tell when they've been training new people in Customer Care - the number of strange requests or misdirected calls spikes.

This afternoon should be pretty quiet, which is good because two days of training this week set me behind on the volumes of data mining that I get paid well to do, so assuming that there are no emergencies arising from customer calls, I should be all caught up for the week before I leave today. I also need to compile a list of questions and concerns about some alterations to the order taking process here and present them downtown first thing on Monday.

The weekend will be spent outside, nursing beers and grilling things. Feel free to stop by. Don't ask me about work though.

Point Taken

To be fair to the "beer and grilling" portion, there is a generous supply of the following in the basement refrigerator:

 - Paulaner

- Old Speckled Hen

- Angry Orchard Hard Cider

I also have an assortment of Argentinian wines graciously donated by my father because there was no room in the cellar. I might open a bottle or two as well.

I am going to experiment with my burger recipes this weekend, and my wife is probably mentally preparing for the possibility that one batch may contain diced jalepeno just for kicks...literally. I also have some ribs marinating in the kitchen refrigerator which I might have to cook tonight before I listen to another evening of "the place smells like Lea & Perrins".

On my way into work

Driving down 23 I saw a truck with a trailer pulled to the side of the road. About 100 feet behind them, there was a large pontoon boat sitting right on the highway. Apparently someone didn't tie it down well. I would have paid good money to see that go down.

For those of you in New York or the Tri-State Area, the annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party is tomorrow and Sunday in Madison Sq Park from 9 to 10.  In a city where there is amazing food from all different cultures and region, I've always felt there could be better/more BBQ spots.  Been looking forward to this event for a while.

Its funny every time . . .

Why does the main guy get so annoyed when Leeroy asks for some more "devout shoulders"?

Work

Which means putting out little figuative fires. First we ran out of a test fluid, then a test machine can't do what we need it to, so I have to try to talk to Germany about how to make things work... but Germans have gone home for the day.

I get to call another Big 3 supplier today to figure out why they're going to go back to older tech rather than just tweak a calibration.. hooray car companies! None of them want to be the first to use new stuff.

Oh, I've also got a 6 mile run tomorrow morning. Really debating if agreeing to do a half marathon this fall was a good idea....

It was a good idea. Stick with it! My wife just ran the Cleveland Half a few weeks ago. The training sucked, but I know she felt rewarded for it. One of these days, I'll whip my lazy butt into shape and run one, too.

Embrace the suck!

Props to your wife, Ernie!

I was in Cleveland for my buddy's CWRU Law graduation the day of the Marathon.  I'm not sure what the morning was like, but by the time I got up there from Cbus it was murderously hot.  So, congrats to your wife on getting through - heat wipes me out.

For my part, I ran the 26.2 in Detroit last October but fractured a metatarsal in the process, so I'm still working my way back and currently trying to convince myself I should sign up for the BTN Big10K in Chicago at the end of July.

Working on those TPS Reports

I've been having a little problem with them lately. Apparently, we're putting the new cover letter on all TPS reports before they go out. I'm going to try to remember to do that from now on.

My sister's graduation party is today, a future wolverine.  Following in my footsteps and I couldn't be prouder.  Going to be some good food and I'm providing the beverages, it should be a good time for all(even if im one of the few allowed to get buzzed).

Just waisted 3 minutes of my life reading some thread about some government nuclear accident cover-up military operation conspiracy.  Now it's on to patients and consults.  On call this weekend, but hoping to go out to dinner tonight and to the zoo later this weekend with the kid.  Also hoping to break in a new babysitter.

Reviewing a mountain of sales

Reviewing a mountain of sales tax returns, which is very exciting.  Tomorrow I'll be playing a round of golf while my fiance is at her wedding shower.  Playing a drinking version of Cards Against Humanity tonight hopefully.  If you haven't played that game and aren't easily offended, I would highly recommend it.

When in doubt do 48109

It'll go to the University, and if the rest is clear, they'll figured out where it goes. The school basically has it's own postal department.

last day of school

for the students was yesterday, sitting here nursing a hangover on the last teacher work day.

decided yesterday was a good day for a brown paper bagged 40oz of old english...those are always an awful decision the next day.

then i just got a call from my brother that i have to go help him spread 7 yards of mulch for his elderly neighbor as soon as i leave here.

awesome.

Random question for the Board

So I'm not in the market for a new car for a couple of years, and there are a bunch of cars that are on my future list, but I know we have some other gear heads here,s o I thought I'd pose the question: Nicer or faster?

There are 2 cars that really intrigue me: the next Gen Audi A3 and the next gen VW GTI. (I'm also going to look at the Focus ST, Chevy SS, Buick Regal GS, Dodge Dart SRT4 and any other fun things with 4/5 doors in the $30K range available with a manual. I'll test drive a lot of things and I'm not buying anything for a while, just been going over this question in my head)

The A3 is going to be lighter than it is now with a 1.8TFSI engine and 180HP. It'll have comparable performance to what I'm driving today, but with better mileage and a much nicer interior and stuff seeing as it's an Audi.

The GTI is going to have 230-260 HP. Much better performance, but equal or a small step down from the nice side of things to what I'm currently driving.

There isn't much of a price difference (I'd probably get a high end GTI or low end A3) figure $2,000. Which would you buy? Nicer or Faster?

Audis

My brother has a mtx S4 Avant (4.2L V8, got it used for $35K) and I had an RS6 (4.2L biTurbo V8). These cars are fun as hell to drive but cost a ton to maintain. Even so, I'd get another if my wife wouldn't kill me for it.

I am intrigued by the new Focus, but haven't had any luck with Fords ('98 SHO cost almost as much as the RS6 when the damn cams spun).

Someday...

I just saw that Audi is bringing the RS5 here.... that'd be fun.

I forgot to mention I'm currently in a VW CC - a bigger, nicer, GTI that isn't as "fun" when handling.

My brother-in-law has a new Focus, great car. Ford did a great job. I wouldn't go to a base focus, but the 256HP ST interests me... I'll have to drive/compare it.

Any mention of RennSport and I am drooling. I wonder why the Focus ST isn't badged as the SVT. That car looks like a lot of fun as well.

Hard to do long term data on a '12

But I'm liking the new Focus. And I would never have bought any of the old models. This one has more zip, great mileage, and a look miles cooler than what they were kicking out before. But then I've had better luck than you....I put my Probe out of it's misery when I figured it was going to cost more to make everything work than was worth it vs. putting it in a new car, but that was after 223,000 miles and 17 years.

Now I've just got to get the cash and time together to get my Triumph up and running...

I recently got a new Focus,

I recently got a new Focus, though my wife drives it a lot more than I do.  I find it to be a little small for day-to-day driving (I'm 6'0, 230).  Overall, though, it's a fantastic car.  My only complaint is that the engine seems to be a little underpowered for my tastes.

It's difficult when the wife is driving it too.

But if you're willing to fix the seat every time she's taking it, you can not only slide it all the way back (assuming you're not having anyone ride in the back), but you can raise and lower the seats for more head room (not just the slant of the back...but the actual seat. Just found this out). As for the underpowered, it's not a true sports car, just sporty (though you can get the sports package), but I offset that a bit by getting a manual which avoids the questionable auto shift and a little more pick up.

But it's a small car. But I've always perferred maneuverability over a big metal shell. I mean, everything seems big after my first car.

(Not me, but reasonable facsimile of my car)

Slightly underpowered

That's why I'm going to look at the ST. 2.0L Turbo with 256HP... and thankfully only available with a manual

What model/year of Triumph?

Used to have a TR4 when it didn't matter so much if I arrived on time. Also an MGA with a push-button ignition. Couldn't use my lights and (3) wipers at the same time. Meanwhile, take my Wrangler, please.

Yes, British electrical systems weren't glorious. Eventually it becomes impractical to drive a car without locks anywhere though.  Not that it mattered when 4 or 5 of your friends could pick it up and put it on someone's lawn. Though that part of it WAS great if your brake line went out, and you had to stick your foot out to stop the car, all Flinstones style.

In high school

with an MG with no locks or keys, I never knew where to look for my car after school. Many others knew it was available throughout the school day. It served them right that it would also get stuck in reverse and they would have to drive around town backwards.

I like the G

But I work for an auto supplier and get a pretty good discount on new cars. Since it doesn't cost too much more, the warranty, included service, etc. makes new cars a good deal for me.

My concern with a G would be finding a 4 door Manual. I know they exist... they're not quite a unicorn but they're like a narwhal...

Someone I once considered my best friend has all but kicked me out of his life over the past few weeks. Had tickets to the Reds/Tigers game for Saturday and asked him to go with me (he lives in Cincy)--he never responded to the e-mail.  Broken-hearted, I put them on StubHub just now for the hell of it.  They just sold. =)

Forgetting the boy and buying a new bag.  And looking for a new best friend.

Tip from personal experience

Tip from personal experience - guys and girls can never be best friends.  The guy always wants more.  It sucks, and I'm probably an a--hole for saying it, but its true 9 times out of 10.

Either that or your guy has a new girlfriend that has been hinting/telling him that you two shouldn't be friends.

I didn't like him like that, haha.  I really didn't.  And I highly doubt he felt that way about me.  I just have no idea why he pulled away so much.

But onward and upward. I got some super good advice from a guy much older than I am a couple years ago: "Watch what you fight for."

See, that's what always happens.  I don't mean to add insult to injury, but the girl never things that the guy felt more but that's always the case (60% of the time, its always the case).  Do girls just not want to believe it or do they really not know?

That's what Profit is saying.  And since "you don't feel that way" he knows he's not going to get it, and it's hurts more to have it halfway than to not have it at all.

Ahh that video was

Ahh that video was heart-breaking.  There's a backstory.  It involves him breaking plans to go to The Game with me a week beforehand because he decided he's getting back with his (evil) ex-gf.  I even met her after the game.  Not sure how I kept my cool.  That night ended with me (super drunk) sobbing in the bed of an athlete (you're welcome) about how much I love ex-best friend and how I would have never hurt him.

In conclusion, yes, all women are crazy.

Well, the video...you're her, he's the dude.

And I'm not sure....who's welcome....me?  Because it'd have to be BEFORE the game with the good results the next day to have helped me.  If it was the athlete...well, I hope he got more than the sobbing for his "thanks". If all he got was the sobbing, then maybe he should be saying "you're welcome".

Though even a more than a month latter, I'll gladly give you credit for the Sugar Bowl win. Especially if you're the "brunette girl."

It's not "pushing you away"

It's not "pushing you away" so much as it is cutting ties.  If you find yourself in the "friend zone" with someone that you really like and care about it's extremely difficult to cut ties with them but it's the best way to maintain your sanity.  The idea is that you are supposed to miss him enough that you realize that you have feelings for him too.  Doesn't always work out that way though.

Its a sh-tty situation, Jen,

Its a sh-tty situation, Jen, but one most every guy has been in before.  From a guy's viewpoint, like MAgo says, we finally realize that, after a whole bunch of hints (maybe not recognizable enough because girls always say "he doesn't like me like that") and pain and suffering from wishing the situation was different, its time to move on.  It's hard for the guy too - imagine wanting something so badly (not just the s-x) and being "this" close to it for so long and then having to give up.  That's what it feels like - giving up - and no guy likes to do that.  Plus, you don't get to hang out with your friend anymore.  But that's less painful than wanting something you'll never have.  So either the girl gets her sh-t together and realizes that they should be with their best friend or they suffer the fate of many - lose them.

I think that's the point

I think that's the point you're missing here: in his mind, there was no choice. To him, the options were either hook back up with the ex, or continue on in miserable friend land. By the sounds of it, he sided with his penis.

Picked her?

You said he went back to her. After you pretty much giving him the "let's just be friends treatment".  He probably went back to her because he came to grips with the fact that he wasn't getting anywhere with you. "Picking her" makes it seem like you were an option. If you gave him the same impression you've given us, he probably didn't think you were an option.

So you have to decide what you want with him, and not play games with him, and let him know straight up. Because it sounds like you wanted to play it both ways...have all his attention, but not do anything serious-scary. So either have to no send mixed signals, or let both of you move on.

I love him more than anyone

I love him more than anyone I've ever loved in my entire life, and that terrifies me.  I tell him I love him alllll the time.  He's never said it back.  To quote some melodramatic song from Les Miserables, "If he asked, I'd be his."

Well, there's I love you

And then there's I love you. If you've given mixed messages to a bunch of strangers on a message board, one can only guess the multiple messages he's getting.

didn't like him like that, haha. I really didn't.

Some guys are built differently. They won't say I love easily. And most won't at all if they're afraid loving you is going to scare you off. You've said you don't like him in that way, and here you're saying something different. If you still care and value it, don't be afraid and tell him how you really feel. Can't really feel any worse than you do now, can you?  But if you're just going to yo-yo him back and forth between friend and more, let him go, because he's saying he can't take it anymore.

  The knife to the heart

The knife to the heart phrase.  How do you know if that's true?  I assume you haven't been intimate so you really don't even know if you could fall IN love with him.  You have to love a personality before you can love-love the person.  That "not IN love with him" excuse is the classic girl avoidance tactic.  The girl (or guy, I guess, but that's much more rare) is too scared to make the leap so, inevitably, the friendship ends.  Sorry if I'm coming off like a jerk - this one is just near and dear to my heart.  Of course, it all ended well.  But I could have avoided a lot of heartache if I had just made the other girl put up or shut up long before I eventually did.

So why not give it a try?  Be a 21st Century woman and make the first move.  See what happens!  It can't be any worse than it is now, can it?  If anything, at least you'll be able to say you tried.

There's probably something to that.  I would totally give it a try.  I've ended things with two men in the past year because I didn't find them as interesting as him. But if he isn't even answering e-mails about a baseball game I don't really know what my "in" would be. #MGoJenProblems

Do whatever it takes.  Don't

Do whatever it takes.  Don't let any more time pass - the moment grows more and more stale as the days pass.  He might not respond to an email or return a phone call, but he's reading and listening.  Showing up at his door might be a bit too much for you (I wouldn't have the guts to do it myself) so write a letter.  If there's any chance you could fall IN love, don't let that possibility pass simply because it will mean there's some work involved.  You know it will be worth it in the end if things work out!  I know all this sounds corny like some silly movie but, in this case, its real.  DO IT!

Do what you feel most

Do what you feel most comfortable with.  If its writing a letter, see if you can deliver it in person.  You don't have to say a word - just hand him the envelope, turn around, and walk away.

Just lay it all out.  Tell him he's the most important person in your life and its horrible seeing the friendship end so abruptly.  Tell him that maybe you've been blind or denying it, but the time and "distance" has made you realize that he's the one for you.  That nothing can be worse that what you feel right now and it made you appreciate him more and want to be with him.  To give "it" a try and see what happens.  Tell him that if he really wants to end the friendship and go separate ways you will respect his decision but that you want the friendship and more.

Basically, just tell him what you feel.  Nothing worse can happen.  If anything, you might amaze and impress yourself by putting yourself out on the limb.  If the limb breaks, you'll be sad and maybe a little embarrassed but you'll feel proud and powerful!  Trust me.  I'm a moderator.  And I know a lot of sh-t.

Stop crying and get to it!

Stop crying and get to it!  If this is what you want, get it in motion.  It'll be much easier once the ball starts rolling than sitting and thinking about it.

More advice - type the letter first so you can edit easily.  Once you have a good final draft, then handwrite it.  Even better, if you have a signature perfume, spray a bit on the paper.  If he really feels like all guys feel about their girl "friends" he's going to melt.  After that, enjoy!  The next time you see him in person will be like going on a first date.  Pretty cool feeling when you're with someone you've known forever!

**Disclaimer:  If this does not work, you did not get any of this advice from me.  Blame it on M-W instead.

P.S.  Never, ever post a Debbie Gibson video on the Board again.  Use this for inspiration instead . . .

If there's something there, he'll respond.

If not, she'll know.

Actually got one of those "tired with games, want something more" emails myself. And if you don't want to lose it, you respond.

Okay super girly question:

If it was "meant to be" wouldn't it not be this hard?  If he cared about me wouldn't he have said something by now? When you love something this much do you fight for it or do you let it go and leave it up to the universe to handle?

Had to moderate just to get to the reply button

Good thing this is the pos-bang thread.

Hollywood myths.  All the best stuff is the hardest and takes the most work.  And guys are just as chicken as girls, so if you haven't said it all out there, why would he have? If anything, that is part of the relationship women control.  Another myth- that you just know it right away. Sure, there are cases it happens. But just as often it's not the fireworks that slowly fade, but the things that slowly build into something great.

Another one - It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Crap. One hurts, and the other doesn't matter at all. But the former pales into what's really true....

Edit: Too....narrow....for....gifs....

Of all the words of mice or men, the saddest are "It might have been"

Not knowing...or wishing you did? That's what will REALLY haunt you. For a lifetime. Rejection, pain? You get over that.  What if...? That'll stick with you.

I like to take advantage of young women when they're drunk.

But only on posting boards. How much have we had? (Drunk dialing was bad enough. I'm glad I didn't live in a world where drunk tweeting was possible).

Could have edited it...but this is more fun (no matter how many times you see it, a narrowing thread is still exciting. Kinda like boobs.

But anyway, your twitter is protected, so I can't see. :-( But I can take your word for it. Though looking at your posts on your profile before 8 hours ago and since 3 hours ago kinda is like seeing one of those studies on the effects of drinking. Don't drive, go home alone when you're done, and be safe tonight.

But below you say you'd give it a try.

So methinks you doth protest too much. And Profit is right, at this point, is a bf-gf break up going to be any worse than this? If it's anything like most relationships, it'll give you lots of reasons to start not liking each other and making a break up easier. Things don't get real till you're laying naked next to someone.

But yeah, you may have told him that exact line, and he's not going to repeat it back. No guy I know is going to tell a woman he loves her unless he's IN love with her.   And as said before, knows he's not going to freak anyone out by doing it. Guys don't "love" their girl-friends....just their girlfriends.

Continuing my advice through video (because it's funny, but it's true)-

I was being my usual crass self

But I didn't mean just the sex.  I just meant a relationship that would include things like that. And not just all the shoulder crying and fun hang outs that never grew into a relationship that was more romantic.

Edit: I also have to agree with the competitive nature of it. There is something exciting about the chase.  But I feel for the ladies too. I've been rejected far more times than I've had to reject someone (part of being a guy; partly having champagne tastes on a beer budget), but as much as it sucks to be dumped or whatever, it's far worse (for me anyway) to tell someone "yeah, I like you...but not that much."  I'd rather be the hunter than the hunted.

Pepper jack, avocado, home made salsa, thick cut bacon, gorgonzola and chipotle tabasco on a pretzel bun for a costco burger. Then either an arbor espresso love or a shandy, I havent decided. Thats what I'm up to as soon as I can bust out of this rotten place.

On my lunch break right now.

On my lunch break right now. On the docket for the afternoon: have to finish updating a guide for our newest software version. Probably have to talk to a developer about some questions (ugh... for any of you software developers out there, do you realize that your often wonderful ideas don't often make sense in the real world?? It's ok to keep your head in the clouds, just make sure your feet are on the ground, too). Also going to shoot off the weekly update to our online documentation repository. Nice, brainless task. Take a couple hours to listen to my favorite music on Grooveshark while getting stuff done.

Then meeting some friends at a park tonight for a picnic. Should be fun.

For those of you keeping score at home...

I'm following up last friday's effort of writing an exciting and inspiring value proposition for a new technology product with the inevitable "can't we all just get along" plan so my team can get this thing built instead of having endless internal debates about who gets to own it and build it.  Ah, the joys of large corporate America.

In related news, the beer selection at Binny's was quite nice last friday, so I have plenty of good tasting brew in the beer fridge waiting to be consumed.  Shiner has an IPA called Wild Hare which I decided to try and it is pretty, pretty, pretty good.  Not quite so hoppy, so goes down easy on a warm summer day...like today...that gives me an idea.
