OT: Friday Open Thread - Whatcha working on today? Posbang anyone?

Submitted by profitgoblue on

So it looks like this might be a regular off-season thread since each of the last three Fridays I've wanted to jump out of my window here at work to put myself out of misery.

Whatcha working on today?  Any good or interesting plans for the weekend?

Me, I've got the monumental task of figuring out what to get profitgowife for Mother's Day and trying to negotiate a confidentiality agreement with an a--hole lawyer on the other side.  This weekend is filled with kids stuff, including a toddler birthday party at a playground tomorrow.  Actually, a pretty nice little Saturday.  We might make a trip to Home Depot.  Maybe Bed Bath & Beyond.  I don't know.  I don't know if we'll have enough time.

Anyone in the MGoWorld have any advice on creating an application page that displays a set of list items, allows the user to select multiple items with a checkbox, and then generate some pre-formatted HTML based on the column values of the selected items?

A developer who worked here before my time set up a system like this, and I'm trying to add to it. I'm starting to think that it might be faster to just build this out myself instead of trying to reverse engineer what he did.

Also, excited for a weekend in which I have NO PLANS! I am going to sit. Maybe lay. Maybe go see The Avengers again. Whatever the case, I will not be traveling/working/forced to spend time with people I don't really like. Excited.

Taking my wife and daughter to the Franklin Park Conservatory in that stinking pile CBus on Saturday.  It's actually a really cool place if you are close and have never visited.  Trying to fit in visits with our moms and step-moms on Sunday.  Good times.

That would be great for me and the daughter, not so much for the wife.  For a former cheerleader, she has little interest in attending sporting events (other than basketball).  I'm hoping trips with the kids will change that.  We do want to get to a few Clipper's games with friends this summer though.

Going up to Au Gres/Tawas area to drink excessively and golf hopefully. Probably going to put in a dock as well, but should be a good time with all of my buddies from my mens league hockey team.

I'm reconciling an a/p account for a client because they don't know how to properly change invoices. but only for another couple hours because there is a luncheon at work and then i have the afternoon off. plans include not returning to ann arbor for a friend's party and instead spending the weekend with my mom and brother for mother's day.

I am about an hour away from a meeting where I am going to plead my case as to how horribly understaffed my group is (which I can prove) as well as discuss some various sundry process changes. That's a pretty typical Friday sadly. So, naturally, while I mentally prepare to be shot down by higher-ups, I am reading and commenting on MGoBlog as I try to write down notes and print awesome charts at the same time.

Took a half day today.  Need to sell $1,307 more to hit my May quota.  Once that happens I get a bonus for more than that.  Gotta love that math.

Dropping the wife off at the spa and then I will head to the gun range and squeeze off about a dozen clips out of my Sig P-220 .45 acp.  I got a new laser sight mounted on the rail so I am super excited.  Pick up wife and head out to dinner without the toddler b/c my mom is babsysitting.

In my queue today. Add a drop down account maintenance and quick links modal to a Drupal installation. Convert some pdfs to htmls. take my macbook to the Apple to figure out what is stuck in my disk drive. And then sleep till Monday.

I don't have anything against what happened in his personal life.  That's between him and his ex wife.  I have lost a lot of respect for his abilities as a player since he has lost access to his mystery Canadian physician he used to go to for "treatment" and he suddenly can't play.  To me, he's the Mark McGwire of golf.

He started seeing Anthony Galea sometine after the 2008 U.S. Open. How would that explain his dominance pre-2008? In particular, his Tiger-slam from 2000-2001 when he was still a pretty skinny? BTW, blood spinning is not illegal and since the PGA tour instituted drug testing in 2008, there hasn't been a hint of doping in the direction of Tiger. In 2009, after drug testing was instituted and coming of major knee surgery, Tiger won 6 times on the PGA tour.

So, calling him a cheater is pretty low.

I shouldn't have implied that he was never a good player before and I'm sure that he, like McGwire, has a ton of natural ability and work ethic.  The timing of his decline from all these injuries and lack of access to said doctor just seem very fishy to me.  IIRC, McGwire never broke any laws or MLB rules with his treatments either.  I guess I was uninformed about the specifics.  I retract my accusation.

Thanks, I'm adding it to my ever growing list of MGoAcheivements.

  • I have 1500 points
  • I've quad posted before.
  • I've briefly been to bolivia and back

If things go poorly between me and my girlfriend, I'll have a list of things to brag about to pick up women in bars, which I KNOW they will be impressed with.

Working on my dissertation and meeting with panicky undergrads about their impending stats final. But I've got a beer tasting party lined up tonight and an old friend from UM is going to be in Austin for a wedding this weekend, so the weekend's looking up.

Is it wrong that I identify so well to a disgruntled government employee?

Edit:  Sorry, that was supposed to be a reply to Laser Wolf.  My brain must think it's Saturday already.

Dinner tonight with g/f.

Andrew Bird concert tomorrow night with second g/f.

Sunday meet with ex-g/f to arrange a birthday party, then hang out with third g/f.

If I have time, make plans/pick up gift for fourth g/f visiting next weekend.

And yes, they all know about each other. I may be a player, but I'm an honest player. I do think, however, I need to pare down. Too much organization required to keep them straight.
