OT: Friday Open Thread about whatever
That time of the week. Did we even have one last week? I was too busy going America all over everybody.
Anyway there's plenty of actual football talk elsewhere, from the Pac12 wussing out to the PSU fallout, I've really liked the recent either/or questions on the board, so here's some potential discussion topics for this summer Friday:
1. Mustang or Camaro? (Or Challenger for you Mopar folks. Open ended - classics, new, etc)
2. Strawberry or Grape on your PB&J?
3. Follow up to 2: Chunky or smooth PB?
4. SNL Halcyon 1 or 2? (Original cast, Belushi, Akroyd, Chevy, etc vs. Sandler, Rock, Farley, etc)
5. Most overrated movie of the last 20 years?
Happy Friday everyone. And don't forget we're only Days from the start of the season
You're already at 5, so I can't upvote. But still ... laughed out loud.
Yellow mustard with PB is a cousin of yellow mustard on a soft pretzel. The pretzel is definitely salty (like PB ... check the label), and bread has a certain sweetness to it.
Yellow mustard is not good on anything IMO. Dijon, honey, or brown mustard are the only way to go. But I still wouldn't put them on a PB&J.
Don't leave out the smooth PB demographic.
Although I prefer dijon or horseradish mustard, yellow mustard with onion and tony packos sauce on a hotdog is undeniable.
MMM, Tony Packos. I need to visit my in-laws in Toledo.
But of course skip the visiting the in-laws part.
It's my brother-in-law and he works in UT's athletic department and his wife works for the Jamie Farr Classic so they are pretty cool. They have kids my daughter's age too. We'd probably visit more often if they weren't always so busy.
That's cool. I live just west of Sylvania, so of course I am a fan of Packo's. Good stuff right there, especially the cabbage rolls.
I've never been to Tony Packo's, but here in Tucson at a BBQ place they had Tony Packo's sweet and hot pickles on the menu ... unbelievably good.
I never thought I'd say it ... but I think I have a reason to go to Toledo ... :-)
I don't think I can ever criticize someone for weird but delicious food combinations, during my high school years I frequently went with the crunchy PB and dill pickle sandwich. Crazy I know, but don't knock it til you try it.
Do you find that people prefer a traditional pub style atmosphere, family style restaurant, or club scene for their libations?
1. I still like those late 80's Camero IROCs
2. Honey
3. Smooth
4. Farley era with Myers and Carvey
5. Hangover
1.) Mustang
2.) Strawberry
3.) Crunchy (not sure how this is even debatable)
4.) Original cast
5.) Napoleon Dynamite, is this really even a comedy?
I saw it after it had been out for a while and everyone was saying the lines. It was just uncomfortably awkward and not that funny IMO.
When the "Vote For Pedro" shirts started appearing, I thought it was starting to become more than it should have been as a film. I didn't mind it, but for a while, some really latched onto it, and I didn't see how it was quite THAT as films go.
I did, however, vote for Pedro in a poll for the best Los Angeles Dodgers players in the past thirty years.
Your mom goes to college
2. Neither, raspberry preserves are awesome.
3. Chunky on sandwiches, smooth in milkshakes.
4. 1.
5. (please don't neg the shit out of me for this) The Dark Knight, although a pretty good movie, it's totally overrated. Batman takes care of the scarecrow plus some other randoms with ease in one scene, while he spent the entire first movie trying to accomplish the feat. And, two-face is originally scarred by acid thrown in his face by a mob boss, not falling into gasoline.
1.Camaro. I'll take a GM car over a Ford one any day.
2. Mixed berry.
3. No contest, creamy all the way.
4. I'll take the Will Ferrel era over the two options provided.
5. Avatar.
Kristen Saban, daughter of Nick Saban, is being sued by one of her sorority sisters for beating the hell out of her. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2172810/University-football-coa…
but it's trashy and about alabama. that's good enough for me.
Sorority sisters playing power hour followed by drunken facebooking. There's absolutely no way anything bad could result from this.. /s
is exactly what i was hoping for. i knew there was a sign to be made in there, and i think you've nailed it.
Also, if you think anyone is going to stand up to Saban in Tuscaloosa you're bat shit crazy.
you could have made it
If you're in Dublin, take a train to Howth for a couple hours. Nice little fishing town outside of Dublin. Walk around for a little bit, get some grub and head back to Dublin. Was a nice little day trip when I was in Ireland last summer.
1. Gas Mileage.
2. Gimme some of that purple stuff.
3. Chunky (preferably Extra)
4. SNL 2, I guess that would be late 80's-early 90's.
5. Donnie Darko. Maybe I just didn't get it, but every d-bag in my high school loved that movie about an emo Jake Gyllenhaal who deals with emotional issues and circular logic filled plot holes.
Titanic.
Like many people, I saw it anyway on the first night, and I will never forget being behind a group of teenagers who asked if this was based on a true story. I told them that, although the boat did sink, its ethereal remains were reported in 1989 by a dockmaster at Pier 34 in Manhattan, a man who bore an uncanny resemblance to Cheech Marin. They seemed more interested in the fact that a dude working on the docks could look like Cheech Marin.
Here is the real cause of the ship's demise:
...and I did also throw in that Isaac lives but sadly Gopher and Dr. Bricker both are lost with the ship.
I want to so badly say "I find that hard to believe," (talking about the teenagers with their question), but I can totally see it happening. Unfortunately that is my generation you're talking about, as I was a freshman when that movie came out. Thankfully I was fully versed in the Titanic's legacy before seeing the movie.
I had a peanut butter and honey sandwich today for lunch, just to stick it to the man.
I have swimmers ear, hurts like hell. I hate the pain meds I'm on (Vicodin) I feel like I'm having an out of body experiene.
1. I guess because I was at an impressionable young age at the time, I always loved the first generation Camaro ('66-'69) with the stripe that wrapped around the nose of the car. I also had an HO-scale (?) electric car set and the Camaro that came with it was MY CAR!
2. Boysenberry....yum.
3. Smooth rules.
4. Original cast. Can't forget the Bass-o-matic.
5. Avatar
1. Pontiac Firebird, one of the F Body models with the 5.7 Liter V8 and the Ram Air package. Even if the Ram Air is just for show. Targa top.
2. Strawberry
3. Smooth
4. No preference, don't watch.
5. Anchorman, can't stand it for some reason.
So the wife is outof town, the dogs are visiting their brothers, and I have the place to myself. I need to spend one day finishing the smaller kitchen in my basement. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the other day. Veg on the couch or do something fun and productive...
Obvious.
Yak on yak action?
Who's actually been in Mongolian and learned their sexual practices. What use does porn have for one who has lived it??
