I'm not sure the size of the firm matters too much.  In a smaller firm you'll likely get more experience interacting with clients and the like, whereas in larger firms you'll get less of that, and instead get more document review tasks.  But regardless of the size of the firm, you're likely going to work long hours.

I'm a 2L, and I felt the exact same way you did a year ago.  I seriously considered leaving school, and I even asked for some opinions from people on this board at the time.  I did not do nearly as well as I expected my first semester of law school, but I rebounded big time in the second semester.  Law school is really hard, and from all accounts being an actual lawyer isn't any easier, so don't let me talk you into doing something that you don't feel passionate about.  That said, I would reccommend going through with this semester before deciding to leave, especially if you are smart enough to get into a school as highly ranked as Michigan.

had a few pete's wiked ale, and a bottle of some cheap Merlot.

Protip for any kzoo mgoblogers, Hardings on Westnidge in portage always seems to have a 3.99 random microbrew 6 pack on the south side of the store near the registers. normally its a pretty decent brew for the price.  right now its Pete's Wicked Ale which is just a nice smooth ale, and what is called a "session ipa" its basically what would happen if miller light had a illicit child with twohearted.

those who are in a situation (an interview, out with the boss, etc.) where the other guy is paying.  Ask for Macallen, then the waiter/bartender will say 12 or 18?  Say the 12 is fine-let the other guy order the 18.  He will feel good and you will enjoy a far superior drink.

I've been meaning to ask this: Ever since these threads started coming out I've seen you Michiganders mentioning many beers I've never heard of down here in Iowa.  I'm not a huge beer connoiseur by any means but I like and have tried my share of beer.  This past week I saw a Bell's beer in the store and picked it up; it was a pale ale.  I wasn't a huge fan to be honest but wouldn't mind trying some of their other beers if I can find them.

Anywho, what are some of the better beers from up there (not that I'll necessarily find them with ease down here) that you'd suggest.  Cheers from a Friday night workin' man...

Pale Ale was made for women, not that there is anything wrong with that, but Larry targeted women with it. If you want to drink an archetypical Bells, get a Solsun (I think the kids are calling it Oberon these days), an Amber (the original Bells) or do what I do, get yourself a Two-Hearted Ale.  Two-Hearted is fantastic.  I was in Cedar Falls a few years ago and I found Two-Hearted there right across the street from my hotel.

There's lots of Bells talk in these various friday night threads.  I would imagine in Iowa you'd be able to get the Two Hearted and/or Amber, Best Brown, and those types.  The website below should be able to help you find the distrbutor who will probably have a website/number you can call if you feel going all beer-geeky like I do and find some nearby.

I think Bell's will likely be the only brewery that reaches Iowa from Michigan, so you should grab a 6er Two-Hearted, Oberon, and Hopslam.  I think there is a cult following for Hopslam, although I prefer Double Trouble (Founder's IIPA). 

I think Founder's, based in Grand Rapids, is superior to Bell's, but I checked the beer locator on their site and they don't distribute in Iowa.  They do distribute to neighboring states though, so if you're near the eastern border, I'd search out those beers.  Site for Founder's locator:

I am drinking Tequila and Sangretia, not to be confused with Sangria. 

I had long since given up on Tequila when I noticed this young senorita beside me at one of the local watering holes with two glasses. Upon questioning, she replied, ¨one is Tequila and the other Sangretia.¨ The secret is to take about a half-shot of tequila and hold it in your mouth and then without swallowing, add roughly the same amount of Sangretia and enjoy the smoothness of the drink, instead of hitting the salt, then sucking the lime.

This provides a much better tequila experience than the customary American way.  BTW, for anyone who has never had the pleasure of visiting the small Mexican ciudad of Ajijic, I encourage you do so at your earliest convenience. I would advise you to do so in the non-winter months -fewer gringos- but it is really difficult to go wrong at any time of year.

It is located in the Mexican state of Jalisco, roughly 5,000 feet above sea level and provides the best climate in the world, yes including san diego and/or parts of Hawaii.

And if one gets bored with the offerings of a small town, a modest amount of pesos will provide a tour to many of the more familiar and well-known cities, most located within five hours via comfortable tour bus.
