OT: Friday night football humor/what are you drinking thread

Submitted by turtleboy on

It's Friday, and it's dark, cold, and grey outside, amongst other things. Figured the board could use a good laugh to brighten things up and kickstart the opening of our collective livers workweek. Michigan gets a nod, thankfully that's the only association we get with an article that hits oh-so-close to the mark.

I've got a 4 pack of Stella Artois and a 12 year old bottle of Dewars. Cheers!

Niiiiice! I have a few Stellas in the fridge and I just bought a fresh ciabatta loaf that I am either going to eat or talk dirty too later on....possibly both. Please don't judge.

You'd think they're just making it up, but then you actually go to Louisiana...That list's like a mix between swamp hoggers, bayou billionaires, big fat redneck vacation, and honey-boo-boo. *shudders*

Tostitos Bowl Landry definitely lost a bet, though, lol

I'm drinking Canada House whisky and honestly hoping that this girl calls and breaks up with me so I can get on with my damn life.  No need to feel bad for me though.  I'll be back on my feet in no time.  Tonight is for drowning in sorrows though.  Catharsis: a good thing.

Bitches is crazy and go blue!

It's an odd situation for sure.  Any attempt at explaining this would result in "tl;dr" responses.  Like I said, I'm good.  Suffice it to say that things will be better for me if she does the deed.  If she doesn't, I've got a night or so more of catharsis.  Come Sunday I'll step up if I have to.

Never cheated on her.  She hasn't cheated on me.  We weren't even together that long.  It was just really fucking good for a while.  A lot of the situation has to do with my history with women before her and how I'd like to remember this.  Not asking anyone to understand, just drink up kids!

Here's my dilemma: Wife is gone, 2 year old is gone, just me and the dog. No football until tomorrow, and I'm scared because I'm too old to know what the hell to do on a Friday night. 7-8 years ago, I'd have any number of friends to meet at any number of bars to go see some bands, play some open mic's, just plain get smashed, whatever. None of yhat is even remotely possible or appetizing at this point. What do I do?

-And don't say porn. I'm trying to quit.

obsession.  Mine is playing a fantasy card game designed for 13 year olds.  I can play it online any hour of the day.  When the family leaves, I get to go nuts and when I wake up the next day, I'm not hung over.

If that doesn't work, just go back to porn.  It's actually quite sustainable.

This is frackin' hilarious.  Especially the "It's actually quite sustainable." part.  I'm not making fun by any means, it's just funny.  Primarily because it's true.  I'm not quite there yet but I'm totally starting to understand the getting older thing and adapting.  I'm definitely in-between; I can at times go balls to the wall with the guys but more and more it's turing into more hanging mellow with the committed-but-not-yet-wife girlfriend.

Edit: The previous was all written after NOT seeing the porn part.  I missed the sentence.  I'm not going to pretend or deny anything, just clarifying I didn't see the porn part.  Ugh. especially after I wrote "balls to the wall", ew.  I like "It's actually quite sustainable" referring to a pre-teen card game better!

I am in the same predicament. What I have chosen to take up is collecting records.i fixed up my day's old turn table and have been collecting old Mississippi blues albums. So my alone time is usually me listening to RL Burnside with a glass of scotch and reading a book. It is quite relaxing.

I just finished dinner - grilled sirloin with a baked potato and mixed vegatables. I am now enjoying the glass of Alamos Malbec that I apparently did not have time to drink earlier. If nothing else, it has had more than enough time to breathe.

Drinking a homebrewed oatmeal stout now. I might have a Backwoods Bastard later. I wish I had picked up some Brown Sugga when I was at the liqour store...

started off with an ipa that looked interesting...yeah I don't think a super bitter bear with no hop flavor/aroma and maltyness makes a good ipa... so now just stealing the rest of the wifes bottle of wine.

And i went to Blind Lady Ale House and did their IPA blind taste challenge...tasted a flight of 6...total failure on my part...for sure. Ballast Point, Stone IPA, Society, Mission, Alesmith..and, err..something else. 3pm on the west coast, and toasted.

Just a soccer Mom who likes beer..in bed by 10 pm, and do my best to stay away from PB...except the occasional surfing at Turmoline.. Im in the Kensington area. Nothing against PB tho--It's just not my thing. I do like PB bar and grill on Football Saturdays! I like it down there when it's still early, too crazy for me at night! I'm totally boring.

Your last post was on a thread concerning Ryan Mallett at Arkansas. What was so enticing about this thread compared to all the other Friday/Saturday night drinking threads since then? Not calling you out or anything, just curious.
