OT - Friday Afternoon/Weekend Plans/General Whatever Posithread

Submitted by JeepinBen on

As we're back in the Kosher OT range of posting and based on the "State of the Blog" what the blog needs is a good pos-bang. Since we can't have that yet, how about a general random whatever/drinking/friday/weekend/etc. thread?

What's going on this weekend? What are you drinking tonight? Which meteor are you rooting for in the B1G game? Got any good gifs/photoshops?

I'll be enjoying some 5 Rabbit later tonight, and for a Gif? A classic:

Probably not.  I've gotten it right as an answer in bar trivia a couple times and no one else knew the movie.

Agree about skating down the river.  Ottawa is supposed to be the spot for that.  Thankfully there are quite a few outdoor rinks here in Chicago, and ponds everywhere when I head back to Michigan over the holidays.

I'll be decorating a Christmas tree, wrapping gifts, and filling out cards to...

- Red Wings/New Jersey, tonight at 7:30

- Red Wings/Florida, Saturday at 7

- Toronto/Ottawa, Saturday on HNIC at 7, followed by Calgary/Edmonton

- College football championship games that will cause existential pain through flashbacks to this season, causing me to make tea and hope for snow.

Going to try and stay warm, as I'm on the northern edge of the storm that rolled through the midwest.  Going to drink very little cuz I'm still shaking from last weekend.  Watch and root for a meteor to show up over Indianapolis.

OH, and catch up on Homeland.

afraid you are going to be dissappointed.  I will give the show credit for trying.  It is trying so hard.  You can almost see it asking for points for trying.  Problem - show became too much about Carrie and Brody to the detriment of the story.  Solution - fraid there isn't one.  The show now exists in this vacuum where all of the action taking place on screen involves and is for the benefit/detriment of people discussed but rarely if ever seen.  Very little character depth, even with primary cast.  Long term prognosis - poor.  Doubt many people watch season 4, and almost certainly does not see a Season 5.

because it started off so strong, figured it would continue.  After a couple seasons, having two females easy on the eyes isn't going to keep it going too long either.  But I'll still give it a try so that if they do turn it around, I'm not playing catch up for too long.  Hopefully they will get that feedback and try to do something about it.  Cable series have a lot more latitude, so I'll remain optimistic for the time being.

It's raining in Nashville.  That means my commute home will be an hour longer than normal.  I have the option to leave now, but my boss needs to "talk" to me once he returns from a meeting.  Angel's Envy and stuffing for dinner.  Maybe Assassin's Creed IV if I can get to Redbox before it's gone.

In Youtube, click "Share" then "Embed", copy the code "<iframe..... etc" then while you're typing the comment click "Switch to plain text editor" Put your cursor at the end of all the code, paste, click to go back to rich text editor. You should see an "IFRAME" box, if so, save your post!

(For posting in OPs, you must use "old embed code" it's a click box on youtube before you copy the code)

I'm very interested in a few games going on tonight.

Michigan State will be nothing more than a punching bag tonight against #1 Minnesota, but #2 St Cloud State gets a tougher matchup on the road against UMD.

Our next opponent Ferris State is on the road against LSSU, which is the game I will be watching.

The old lady just got a promotion at work today so we are in celebration mode. May head to downtown Las Vegas, but it's First Friday and the crowds will be ridiculous. There is a bar there named Golden Spike that has life size Jenga, Huge Connect Four, real life size board games, etc. Or we just may bar hop in a sketchy part of town (Flamingo/Decatur), that's actually my pick. I love the triangle of bars there and the people are awesome (I'm a Detroit City type, she's from Orange County, Ca type). Either way, we are having fun tonight.

Aside from my daughter's dance recital tomorrow, this weekend is a pretty quiet one full of making stews, drinking beer and the usual obsessive dose of sports for me. This will be intermixed with a healthy does of family - for the first time in a while - now that the heat of the regular season is off. That rolls into a promise I made to my wife - a mini-vacation next weekend, overnight stay at the Inns At St. John because we will probably be too tipst to drive home from her work Christmas party anyway (it is also there in Plymouth).

Drinking? Pretty simple tonight. It will be me and some Blue Moon for the MAC Championship Game, which I have no stake in but will watch anyway because football *wife just saw that and rolled her eyes*. Tomorrow, I will watch the Big Ten Championship game with a rum and Coke, because mellow sounds good for some reason.

Relaxing.  Since I spent a nice sum on booze at various establishments last night on me and my bowling teammates I am taking today easy.  Am also considering that their Christmas presents

I will be having flashbacks to last weekend in Ann Arbor.  Zingerman's.  Roadhouse.  Bells Two-Hearted.  Sweetwater's.  8-Ball.  Rabbit sausage polenta at the Earle.

Roadhouse buttermilk fried chicken, for the table.  At brunch.

I can't get Ann Arbor out of my mind.  My heart.

On a separate note, 8-Ball no longer really smells as much like puke in the stairwell as it used to.  And the '98 Rose Bowl poster is nowhere to be found.

Its pretty nice to not have to build my Saturday around college football again. I love CFB but it just murders your Saturdays in the fall. It'll be nice to sleep in, wake up stressed free, and do whatever I want tomorrow.
