OT: Friday Afternoon Posbang Thread

Submitted by justingoblue on

Without much time left for OT threads, and with profitgoblue taking a temporary hiatus from posting these threads, I thought the time was right for another. What's everyone up to at work? At home already? Big plans tonight? Let's have some fun, it's Friday at four (for those of us in the Eastern Time Zone).

During that time I'm going to try and plan my Dallas trip.

I'm driving from the St. Louis area to Dallas, I wanna check out Olklahoma City for a little bit and check out some parks and stuff along the way which is why I'm leaving Thursday.

Are we as a fan base rooting for msu on Friday night? I wouldn't normally but I'm sick of the B10 being bashed.

In Denver visiting my best friend for the weekend. Heading down to Coors Field to take in some baseball, even if it is a terrible team, but there is plenty of beer to be had.

Trying to get out of here (why do people send me work late on a Friday?!), then probably out to eat and to dance tango at a milonga. Life is good.

In between, I'll have a shot for Pipkins. May he rest well, dream of large women, and heal fast.

"Peggy" and I are settling into a new place in Laramie, WY, then headed out on the town for the night and the Steinley Cup (all Wyoming Beer Festival) tomorrow. All after vaporizing about 1/8 ounce of course. Anyone ever live in Laramie? First time living here and looking for any suggestions on places to go, places to avoid, etc etc.

A few hours of work this morning in Shanghai. Chinese lessons for two hours. My normal weekend massage (cheap and fantastic here).  Baseball with the kids.  Lots of bourbon.  Planning my all night tailgate before the Sunday morning Bama game.

What genre do you want?  I have some good stuff in a bunch of different ones (except country).

Generally a good site to find new music is GoodMusicAllDay, which has a lot of good new music several genres (alternative rap, electronic, indie and alternative rock, folk, pop, dubstep, etc).

Also, glad to hear you like Macklemore!  He's come to Ann Arbor twice in the last two years, but both times, I've had an exam the next day, and couldn't go.  He's coming out with a new album in October though, but the Detroit concert is the same day as the Ohio game, so I can't go.  So I'll probably go to his one in East Lansing the next week.

Some good party music (non-top 40ish):

Electronic:

Rap

Rock

Shoot, I wanted to add some more rock songs, but I have to run.  Hope that helps for the time being.

This was needed though, I really needed to revamp my personal party playlist.  I'm going to have some add some more new stuff to it though.

No idea if these suggestions would interest you or not, worth a shot though!  I'm a big music guy as well, always on the look out for new (and good) stuff/artists.

Miike Snow.  Again, maybe up your alley, maybe not.  Swedish, indie dance/pop genre.  Good vibe to them (in my opinion).  They've been around a few years.  Saw them at Lollapalooza two weekends ago, fyi.

As for Hip-Hop - Theophilus London.  I like his stuff,  I like it a lot (Lloyd Christmas voice).  Saw him live in Chicago back in January.  He's up and coming-ish and I think will be big(ger) in the upcoming years.  He's not just a hip-hop/straight rap artist though, which is why I like him so much.  He definitely has 80's influence in him as well as a little "rock" at times.

Indie/Alternative/Folk-Rock - Of Monsters and Men.  You may know of them by now.  Good stuff if you're into this music.  They put on a great aftershow after Lollapalooza (at House of Blues).

Getting the scotch club together tonight for a Laphroaig tasting. 10 yr, Quarter Cask, Tripple Wood, and 18 yr will be the headliners. Should be awesome!

Took my Dad for his tour of the Big House today.  Fantastic.  And he was surprised.  BTW nice piece of history sitting under your field there.
