Without much time left for OT threads, and with profitgoblue taking a temporary hiatus from posting these threads, I thought the time was right for another. What's everyone up to at work? At home already? Big plans tonight? Let's have some fun, it's Friday at four (for those of us in the Eastern Time Zone).
OT: Friday Afternoon Posbang Thread
I need a little posbang action as in about 30 min I've got to head to work (2-11 PST).
Get well soon PeeWee Optimus Prime and 14 days until the Tide rolls over.
kill it tonight. Ayone else?
I'm going to go to BWW in a few,get really drunk, and probably piss my pants.
About to get off work and head to Ashley's...drink beer, watch the Lions, watch the Tigers. Mostly just chilling. Higgins next weekend.
FWIW, I miss your old avatar. I have fond memories of Higgins Lake and always liked seeing that thing.
my annual one week vacation to Higgins last month. What a wonderful place
I used to live on the Gold Coast on Higgins Lake growing up. I went to Roscommon High School. I live in Orlando, FL now and sure do miss practically living on our boat on Higgins in the summer. Heading up to Marquette to see some family next week though. Looking forward to the lower humidity.
I tend to agree...plus the Kate avatar is a bit on the edge. I've rocked it long enough...Higgins pic returning soon.
When you change your avatar, I will miss this one.
At my office. Troegs Perpetual IPA. At 7.5% ABV, a strong start to my Friday evening.
Troegs is good beer. I was in Philly a couple weeks ago and had their Troegenator Doppelbock, which, being a big doppelbock fan, I loved. I also noticed the 'MI - 10c deposit" on the bottle... meaning it must be available around here somewhere. Think I'll go in search of it after work.
Just bought a case of this bad boy. I wish I had some sport (as opposed to sports) to watch this with.
High five! Tacos tonight for me as well
Forgot to mention the beer!!!!
Cheers to a speedy recovery and it being nothing too serious...
Imma grip and sip.
Sippin on lean.
A wedding rehearsal! Not for me, but our best friends. Generally just an awesome weekend.
WHO WANTS A MOUSTACHE RIDE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?
Bored at work and hungry. Looking forward the the Lions game tonight
I went to M-Den today during lunch and started stocking up on new gear for the new season. Among other things, I bought a cap-clip ball marker to use at a golf outting tomorrow. I'm geeked about all of this as well as the upcoming season. So I will celebrate with a variety of beers tonight.
New M stuff.
Season only 2 weeks away.
These things make me happy.
Chili tonight, massive dump tomorrow.
it is the natural order. dang you made me really want chili.
Getting settled in Ann Arbor and preparing for grad school. Also, I got me a job today, so there's that. Great day so far.
I was at an interesting meeting with my state senator and some representatives of DTE that live in my area regarding various energy policy issues in Michigan. It ended early, but my manager told me that I could just head on hom afterwards. Not wanting to be abad employee, that is exactly what I did. Before that, there was the usual Friday data cleansing - hopefully nobody needed any of those old work orders, right?
My wife works from 7 PM to 3:30 AM, so it will really be just myself and the kids after 6 PM or so, and after the kids go to bed, probably just me and MGoBlog.
This weekend, the seasonal MGoDecorations (adding the flag in the yard this year, now that I've landscaped for it) will be coming up from storage in lieu of the season. In my mind, they should stay up all year, but apparently there are other holidays for which one decorates.
My girlfriend and I just moved into our own place, and I happened to find a framed copy of her senior picture at her parents place. Being the jerk I am, I hung it up above the couch in the living room (that kind of stuff makes her uncomfortable), and she offered to let me hang my Block M flag above the couch if I would move her picture into storage. Long story short, I have an apartment with a full sized Block M flag in the living room and I didn't even have to argue for it. Good times indeed.
It is interesting that you mention this, because the indoor flag (to the left of the TV, if you sit on the family room sofa) replaces a collage of childhood photos that my mother put together. That collage coming down means a few months of not having to explain why there is a photo of me kicking my feet up on a desk next to an Apple IIGS, or indeed, a photo of me wearing a bathrobe and playing euchre.
gonna watch the lions and drink beers in utah great day
Gonna wet some line this weekend. Hopefully come home with some tuna.
Sounds strangely dirty
Hopefully we can pound it real hard if it's wide open to the the decks bloody.
Housewarming party for a friend tonight, USA Triathlon National Championships spectating tomorrow morning, ballroom dancing social tomorrow night, engagement party Sunday.
Gonna be a good weekend.
You do tris?
No, though I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered it. Just spectating in this case.
Same here. I am the world's worst runner and I don't even own a road bike. But, I am a very good swimmer. I helped my friend train for the swimming portion because he was terrible at swimming and awesome are the other two.
I'm doing the LA triathalon in September as a relay. My wife is a marathoner, her best work friend swam at LBSU, and I...I know how to ride a bike so I'm the biker. You should find a couple other people and do it too - you're very valuable since the swimmer leg is the hardest to find.
Damn, I needed a posbang. My wife is 38 weeks pregnant and looks absurd. Hopefully I'll have another son by the end of the weekend.
Counting down the hours to left over pizza, a beer, and catching up with the DVR.
It's only 1:16 p.m. here on the hottest day of the year. I just got back from lunch and plan to sit here in the A/C and not-work for another couple hours until it's late enough in the day to open up the box that just got delivered from my wine club. But Monday is probably gonna suck.
So tired. Want to sleep. Second the West Coast thing...it's 1:19 in Seattle and it's hot out :|
In Milwaukee to party my arse off.
and due to a company outing today (which I'm not going to), we all get out of work 1 hour earlier. This is pretty much how I feel about now:
Planning epic tailgating for first home game while sitting on the beach on vacation. Can't wait for AFA game!
Also, in case you were wondering - piña colada.
I was in D.C. for work a couple of weeks ago and a coworker offered to let me use her map and travel guide of the city. I figured I could just use the internet for that information but didn't want to be rude so I took the stuff and thanked her. Of course I left it in my hotel room and today after work I have to go buy a new book and map for her. Totally sucks.
On the bright side I do have a $5 off coupon for Qdoba which is near the bookstore. #blessed
Beers will be consumed once I make it home. It's been a long week and I need to escape reality for a few hours.
End of summer internship = time to rage.
My summer intern just left the office and today was her last day. So when I am confronted on Monday morning by all the work I'll have to do myself, it will be a different kind of rage.
Thanks. Don't you just love us interns?
Don't forget to slay some hoodrats too.
And some Lions!
Probably find something Michigan football related to watch and hold me over.
Working on the baby room this weekend.
Getting my hardwood floors refinished today and this weekend. Hopefully when it is over ill be able to go all risky business from one side of the house to the other.
[redacted because No Kate Upton-worthy events]
It is sad, but the first thought I had when I saw that was, "I hope she has those insured in case anything happens to them."
[Picture redacted because BEWBS]
I only followed orders.
However, I'll share these links...some of the best Kate Upton .gifs of all time. Enjoy.
Is it possible this entire thread is an elaborate Stanley Milgram experiment?
That explains so much!
4 Natty Ice 40's. My life is bro.
Here's hoping everyone gets their copy of HTTV!!! I'm ready to start my 2nd read of it. Well worth the $15.
Just found out I got a ticket to the ND game, hell yes! Heading to Dallas too of course, two night games in one month...
with some fried fish, french fries, and non adult beverages as I have to work tomorrow.
here for the posbang...
Also, Armada Fair tonight
I've got two cases of Yengling that just came in from Florida. Can't wait to crack a couple open.
Yuengling Black and Tan is phenomenal
What is the secret ingredient in Yuengling Black and Tan that never gives me a hangover? Can't get it here in the Upper Midwest, so I go nuts on it whenever I'm on the East Coast.
I don't know, but I'm right there with you. It is my beer of choice on vacation.
I am returning my daughter to school in Ohio. Sorely in need of +++.
Work is INCHING by. BUT! Someone quit and today is their last day, which means work potluck!! It's the little things in life...
Have to post...because it had to posted.
And read MGoBlog.
Building my tolerance for Dallas
...but I found Dallas to be quite tolerable, if not enjoyable.
Do you guys validate parking?
Left work at 4 because my boss left early. Crack open Founder's Centennial and watch last night's episode of Suits (feautring the gorgeous Meghan Markle)
I've had a long work week and am looking forward to "testing" my first home brew (~Pale Ale) 3 weeks after bottling.
I too will toast to Peewee's speedy recovery even if my friends haven't heard of him.
I have to be on my best behavior, or something like that. Go Ondre!
Work tonight. Headed to the middle of 'Scansin early tomorrow morning (from Eastern Iowa) for a family reunion type ordeal. Kind of a nostalgic feeling this weekend, as I haven't been up that way for several years. So, back when I was in high school and playing sports (Football, duh) this family reunion trip was always right around when camp started and football was definitely underway. Gotta love that feeling, right? Ladies and gents, redundant statement is redundant, and for some of you your blood's already been boiling but for me it's finally starting to hit home, but football season is approaching and G*d Da**it thats a great notion!
Bang it. Bang it good.
No clue how to embed video from my phone, but here is an awesome video of Brock Mealer that was posted on Mike Barwis' Facebook page a little earlier today
It should be a good weekend.
Friend coming down [to Boston] from Montreal, so we're gonna tear things apart tonight. Tomorrow is the start of the Premier League season, so I'll be at the bar watching some fellow Gooners (been a tough week). Then, tomorrow night I'll probably be hangin' with my friends again.
I don't know about you guys, but I really like the weekends.
About to leave work for the last time and go get shitty with the coworkers, then back to AA for one last year
then time for a Smuttynose Summer Weizen Ale. My Mission Impossible assignment for the week turned out to be just that. The only way I could get this thing done is to go all Dr. X on a bunch of people. Really, what is the point of documenting stuff anyway?!?
Going to the bar, getting wings and AmberBock, then spending the weekend at work since school starts Monday and my lesson plans aren't done
Correspondence chess ahoy! That and quality time with some cheap alcoholic beverages.
Softball girls are in town again. Shandy and hookah for me tonight, but first I need to go pick up a bottle of Malibu and a twelve pack of Jack Daniels lemonade from the store. I'm just imagining the looks I'll get checking out with that...:(
Tony Reali can't say "notre dames New uniforms" without laughing. Neither can I, tony. Neither can I.
Getting ready for my last weekend as closing mangager at a Jimmy John's. Got promoted to GM. So excited to get my nights and weekends back!
"MFreak"y Fast Delivery
During that time I'm going to try and plan my Dallas trip.
I'm driving from the St. Louis area to Dallas, I wanna check out Olklahoma City for a little bit and check out some parks and stuff along the way which is why I'm leaving Thursday.
Are we as a fan base rooting for msu on Friday night? I wouldn't normally but I'm sick of the B10 being bashed.
I think I will be rooting for them. First time for everything.
Back in AA for the first time in 6 months. Cant wait to enjoy south u tonight.
In Denver visiting my best friend for the weekend. Heading down to Coors Field to take in some baseball, even if it is a terrible team, but there is plenty of beer to be had.
Laundry and whisky!
Trying to get out of here (why do people send me work late on a Friday?!), then probably out to eat and to dance tango at a milonga. Life is good.
In between, I'll have a shot for Pipkins. May he rest well, dream of large women, and heal fast.
"Peggy" and I are settling into a new place in Laramie, WY, then headed out on the town for the night and the Steinley Cup (all Wyoming Beer Festival) tomorrow. All after vaporizing about 1/8 ounce of course. Anyone ever live in Laramie? First time living here and looking for any suggestions on places to go, places to avoid, etc etc.
A few hours of work this morning in Shanghai. Chinese lessons for two hours. My normal weekend massage (cheap and fantastic here). Baseball with the kids. Lots of bourbon. Planning my all night tailgate before the Sunday morning Bama game.
Can't get it out of my head. Another Bad Creation, eat your heart out
just got off work, so let me get posbanged hard! Also i just finished saving the $600 i needed to make the trip to the Mich/Bama game. Life is good..
Nothing wrong with gettin' a little whiskey tango on the weekend.
Sipping on this at my work computer right now. 'IPA' my ass.
For realz - this is what all the dads drink on my street. I'm the rich guy because I buy it in bottles.
That looks good, but I don't think I can get that in Valencia.
Going to get my girls from the most awesome camp ever.
Hey guys, just wanted to apologize for ealier, i was out of line in that other thread. I had just gotten done being yelled at by my boss over a text message for thinking for myself (never think for yourself) and i was already drinking. my bad, forgivsies?
When it comes to work and marriage, don't ever think for yourself, only bad things can happen. There is a boss, and it isn't you.
Check out the name of the perp:
Just went for a long bike ride up north, now about to relax with a cold beer. Good day so far.
I was actually hoping you'd comment on here. A while back you recommended a song (Can't Hold Us, Macklemore) and I really liked it. Got anything else that's a must for tonights playlist?
What genre do you want? I have some good stuff in a bunch of different ones (except country).
Generally a good site to find new music is GoodMusicAllDay, which has a lot of good new music several genres (alternative rap, electronic, indie and alternative rock, folk, pop, dubstep, etc).
Also, glad to hear you like Macklemore! He's come to Ann Arbor twice in the last two years, but both times, I've had an exam the next day, and couldn't go. He's coming out with a new album in October though, but the Detroit concert is the same day as the Ohio game, so I can't go. So I'll probably go to his one in East Lansing the next week.
Rap that has some kind of good beat behind it, or a rock song like In One Ear by Cage the Elephant. Basically something I can play at a small party and keep people happy without replaying a bunch of top forty type stuff.
I would go with "This Is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan. You can't be not happy at a party when that's playing.
I'm going to do a quick scroll through my iTunes, and find a few songs. I'll get back with it in a few minutes.
Some good party music (non-top 40ish):
- Krewella-One Minute
- Lose Yourself- Surkin (Rustie Remix)
- Icarus - Madeon
- Turn it Up - Timeflies
- Love in Motion - Sebastian (Skrillex Remix) (For skrillex it's not ridiculously heavy, but not as light as something like...
- Summit - Skrillex (Ft. Ellie Goulding) (pretty chill song, good though).
- Olu - Friday(Ft. Rebecca Black) Yes, it's a remix of Friday, but for parties (especially friday night parties) it's a pretty awesome song.
- Macklemore - And We Danced Great party song.
- Trey Palms - The Hangover
- Trey Palms - You're the Reason
- Kanye West - All of the Lights (Pretty Lights Remix) A great electronic remix
- Swayze - Corona and Lime
- Dean's List - La Vie
- Don't Like Me - 3OH!3 (Kid Cudi and Mike Posner Remix)
- Disclaimer: With that rock has nowadays, I'm not sure how much of my stuff will fit your tastes but, I'll see what I can do.
- Pheonix - Fences (EarthMoonEarth Remix)
- Cris Cab - Good Girls
- 99 Problems - Hugo
Shoot, I wanted to add some more rock songs, but I have to run. Hope that helps for the time being.
This was needed though, I really needed to revamp my personal party playlist. I'm going to have some add some more new stuff to it though.
No idea if these suggestions would interest you or not, worth a shot though! I'm a big music guy as well, always on the look out for new (and good) stuff/artists.
Miike Snow. Again, maybe up your alley, maybe not. Swedish, indie dance/pop genre. Good vibe to them (in my opinion). They've been around a few years. Saw them at Lollapalooza two weekends ago, fyi.
As for Hip-Hop - Theophilus London. I like his stuff, I like it a lot (Lloyd Christmas voice). Saw him live in Chicago back in January. He's up and coming-ish and I think will be big(ger) in the upcoming years. He's not just a hip-hop/straight rap artist though, which is why I like him so much. He definitely has 80's influence in him as well as a little "rock" at times.
Indie/Alternative/Folk-Rock - Of Monsters and Men. You may know of them by now. Good stuff if you're into this music. They put on a great aftershow after Lollapalooza (at House of Blues).
Looks like it was about 4 mins - those that took the under, congrats.
Getting the scotch club together tonight for a Laphroaig tasting. 10 yr, Quarter Cask, Tripple Wood, and 18 yr will be the headliners. Should be awesome!
What, no Red Label?
We did a Johnnie Walker tasting in July and Red Label did make a brief appearance! Let's say it was the worst of the bunch. :)
Eating Joe's Burgers, drinking beer and watching both Tigers and Lions, due to both playing Baltimore.
About to go to bed so I don't drag ass tomorrow!
Summer shandy on the boat..quite a delightful afternoon it was
Took my Dad for his tour of the Big House today. Fantastic. And he was surprised. BTW nice piece of history sitting under your field there.
